I just went away for a little while, and people jumped all over that problem. Very Impressive! To answer BBW question, I'm using Mozilla Firefox. Also I scan my computer daily for spyware/adware/virus/etc. It runs on a timer like most people have, but I will run it manually and see if that solves the problem. Thanks for the input.

EDIT: I found that IE does not have the problem. I can makes moves on the games and delete messages without getting that download popup. Maybe its a problem with Firefox?
Preachor: Show game is the name of the applet on the server that is used to open the game page -- have you tried allowing the download to proceed even once? It may work. Otherwise, try clearing your cache, something may be corrupted in there.

I keep having these issues when I'm going into another game, or when I try to delete messages from my box. I get a popup to download a file. The message is as follows:
Show Game which is a: application/octet-stream from: http://brainking.com Would you like to save this file?
I get this problem often. I cancel the file download, because obviously its not a downloadable file. Then I click refresh and it brings me back to the main Game List page. Then I try to click on one of my games from the list and I get the same problem. Any ideas?!
Fencer: So the rating of your team players does not count for anything. You can have 8 players with 1900+ BKR, BUT if they have not won many games, they can still get an overall rating of 900 for example ?
How are the Team BKR's worked out ? It seems it does not have anything to do with individual players in the team and there rating. So i presume it is done on results for that team in either a Team Tournament (one of Fencers) or a challenge (against another Fellowship, or both ?
Tulip: there are several hypergammon tournaments in which more than 1 player have the same score in the end .. they are all declared winner
i would guess the same would happen if a 2 player final would end in a draw ? but i have never been in such a situation .. maybe someone can find an example ? ;)
Tulip: If the tournament creator sets the game type to "1 win match", a draw leads to a rematch. The advantage of the lower rated player only occurs if it is a "normal game".
basplund: i would have thought that a final ending in a draw would go to another match? it does on other sites....ive been in a backgammon final for the last 3 rounds now....we are on rd6
basplund: Even a prize tournament ? I admit that it should be a very rare case, but taking the BKR at the start at the game, or even at the start of the tournament (in which case it can be a compensation for having had the harder pairings), seems better. But perhaps not better that selecting the winner at random :-)
nabla: I suppose it must be the BKR at the finish of the game, which counts as always. In theory you're right, but I doubt that anyone would do that much effort to win a tournament.
basplund: Makes me wonder, are we talking about the lower BKR at the time the game is started, or at the time it is finished ? In case of the latter, one player could sacrifice BKR points in order to win a tournament when he has a drawish position in the final.
WellyWales: Thanks Welly! I didn't find those rules on my own. In some games, like Logic, a draw is fairly common. I first thought my opponent had higher BKR, but now I see it was in fact lower, so that explains the outcome
If a draw occurs due to the game rules or an agreement of the players, the player with lower BKR advances to the next round (in case of equal BKRs, the player who did not start the game - black player in most games)
Hi there, I have a general question: on the game pages below the board, it says how many games of this type the two opponents have played and how they ended. Like
7 : 8 (= 2) 12 : 4 (= 0) 12 : 6 (= 0)
What do those numbers in parentheses mean? I wonder that since I saw them for the first time
alanback: 290, and it's there. If you hover the smiley, some browsers show it's code. Or at least you can right click the image, and check it's properties - the name of the image is the code of the simley.

Fencer: Hahahaha! I hate to say it, I'm used to a lot of strange things. But, unsolicited ads are more than strange!! They interfere with my enjoyment of the net. Ever heard that before anywhere?
Thanks, Fencer, that seems to have worked.

Fencer: Thank you. I will try that. It's not happening anywhere else, so that must be it. Tuesday: Right on, Sister. I'll take all the commission I can get!!!
BIG BAD WOLF: Interesting on your message that spyware was double underlined, and kicks up an ad. I've already written to Kontera, who owns ContactLink, told them they are the scourge of the earth, and anyone who puts software on my machine without asking should be sentenced to life in prison. I DID ask how to get rid of the nuisance. Thanks for your suggestion. Think I'll run mine right now.
