Fencer: "everybody is free to use only features he likes."

Mostly true. Knights who only play a few games can't utilise the tournament system as they might like because of the one-per-game-type restiction. Eg, a Knight in a multi-year Backgammon tournament can enjoy no other.

Unless you've changed that somewhere along the line?

When a player pays a membership for another person I think you should give the brains automatically ...OK...I didn't read the whole stuff about the brain system , cause, as I said, I'm not interested in all that administration rubbish ....but now , more than one year later I cannot sign up for those tourneys ...I think that sucks a bit :)
We'll see what other improvements are coming up but I don't have a good feeling with this first one :(((

I have my doubts about this tournament system .
I bought lots of memberships for different players with my credit card but since I'm not interested in administration things, I didn't know about the brain system. This means I didn't mention whatever I needed to mention to obtain those brains . Right : at this moment I got 0 brains so I cannot sign up for this "improved" tournament system .
Besides this , I'm afraid this kind of tournaments will create a small group of elite players ..those who got "brains" :))Playing for more brains ....
Oh well ....not my problem ...I will go on playing "normal" games, but I think I'll stop paying new memberships for belgian players who got no credit-card or players who are afraid for internet payments. No more renewals of memberships with my credit card .

Having just posted a redundant reply on another board, I'm curious about the possibility of editing or removing one's own posts. I sometimes see posts flagged as modified, but I haven't found any way to do this. Is this another feature which is only available to paying members?

Pythagoras: I believe the answer to 1) is that you don't actually buy memberships, per se, you buy membership extensions. It's just that with some people they are extending their Pawnness into Rookhood. So it would be B).

I asked a similar question to 2) and 3) way back whenever and got the answer "Fencer would work something out", so I'll be interested to hear any further elucidation.

I have 3 questions. If you are too lazy to answer all 3 then the first is of the most importance for me!

1)What would happen if someone with Rook membership, buy a 6-months Rook membership at 14 February while it still has 5 more months of Rook membership:

A)He would have, starting from 14 February, 6-months of Rook membership....

B)He would have, starting from 14 February, 11-months of Rook membership.....

    A) or B) is valid?

    ---------------------------------------

2)What would happen if someone with Rook membership, buy a 6-months Knight membership at 14 February while it still has 5 more months of Rook membership:

A)He would have, starting from 14 February, 6-months of Knight membership....

B)He would have, starting from 14 February, 5-months of rook membership and then 6 motnhs of Knight membership....

    C)Something else.....

    Is A) or B) or C) valid?

    ---------------------------------------
    ------
3)What would happen if someone with Rook membership, buy a 6-months Maharajah membership at 14 February while it still has 5 more months of Rook membership:

A)He would have, starting from 14 February, 6-months of Maharajah membership....

B)He would have, starting from 14 February, 5-months of Rook membership and then 6 months of Maharajah membeship....

    C)Something else.....

Now i'm not confused and here is how it is:

Probability of getting nothing for free = 25%
Probability of getting EXACTLY 6 months for free = 50%
Probability of getting 1 year for free = 25%

Probability of getting nothing for free = 25%
Probability of getting AT LEAST 6 months for free = 50%
Probability of getting 1 year for free = 25%

Also what do you mean there by: "a two year membership payment makes a good change to get the whole year for free"?

I don't mean that you should have changed the "change" with "chance" (a thing that you should do) i mean the following question:

There is not any 2 year membership available as i see! Only for ½ year or 1 year!
If you mean buying 2 one year memberships at the same time, then i have another strategy:

1)Buying 2 one year memberships at the same time:
    Current COST = 2·28 = 56 €
    New COST = 2·30 = 60 €
Probability of getting 1 year for free = 50 %
Probability of getting AT LEAST 6 months for free = 50 %
Probability of getting EXACTLY 6 months for free = 0 %

2)Buying 1 one year membership now and the other day another one:
    Current COST = 2·28 = 56 €
    New COST = 2·30 = 60 €
Probability of getting AT LEAST 6 months for free = 75%
Probability of getting 1 year for free = 25%
Probability of getting EXACTLY 6 months for free = 50%

So what we have is that buying with the second method 2 years, you get 75% of having at least 6 months for free or even 25% for 1 year for free. While with "your" proposed way we have 50% for 1 year for free but if we don't suceed we get nothing more....

I would choose my proposed way as i prefer better chances than better prizes, if actually you will allow the BONUS to be valid this way....According to the aforementioned rules for the bonus, my way is 100% legal.....
