Provisional rating is always inaccurate.

harley
Yes but that will soon drop if they are not deserving of it. I have had it happen, suddenly found myself with a great rating at games I'm not especially good at! It does happen, and mine sure dropped fast when I started playing with simlar rated players!
I think it all depends on the ratings of your opponents for those first four games.

Sujet: Re: Rating players regardless of the game
But its curious, that sometimes a new player, who has only played 4 games against players with bad or without rating, suddenly has one of the best ratings.

Sujet: Re: Rating players regardless of the game
If you click on 'established BKR only' it will filter out all the provisional ratings for you, and leave you with the players who have established ratings :o)
But its nice for provisionally rated players to see where they fall in the ratings tables.

Sujet: Re: Rating players regardless of the game
After a player has completed 4 games they are given a provisional rating which will be in italics. Once they have completed 25 games the rating is then changed to standard text.

Likewise with rankings ... after 4 games they are included in the "all players" ranking ... and then after 25 games they will have an "established BKR" ranking followed by their "all players" ranking something like 23(44)

How can you give a player, a number 1 rating when they have not played at least 25 games?..they should be classified as 'unrated'.. california man

ellieoop: This site does not have a holiday schedule. This site does it better!

You can take your own vacation / holiday days by picking which days you want as your vacation/holiday in the "Settings"

Sujet: Loging out.
I played a few games at the liberary today. I logged out, then I was automatically logged back in. So every time I tried to log out it just takes me back to my main. Now anyone who sees this sites name in the address bar at the library computer can mess with my games. So I decided to come home and change my password and find that there is no way to change my password either.

I agree completely, this site is a great place to game. I do not have much experience with other sites, mainly because I have read the general chat boards first. I have found that the majority of the people here are friendly and considerate, and most seem to want to maintain at least the semblance of civility. Hats off to Fencer and hopes the site will prosper.

Did i regret joining Bk.? - No

This is why

List of the plus points

1, Unlimited games.
2. No advertising.
3, No 3rd party Tracking cookies.
4, No Spyware.
5, The most friendly games players on the net.
6, The most helpfull & knowledgable players on the
net.
7. The most helpfull Webmaster on the net.
8, A great range of games to play.
9, An absence of the "Child mentality" that other sites have.
10, Taking into account all the above, the very reasonable cost of a membership.

Minus points

A certain amount of site "Slowdown" at peak times

Looks like the positives out number the negatives by 10 to 1.

Having a paid membership is not just about service. This is a new site, and this is the best site. That is why we keep coming here despite the growing pains. Having a paid membership is a way of contributing to the development of this site, a way to make it better and support solutions. However, I believe the most important reason, IMHO, is to show our appreciation, and respect, to Fencer for all he has done and continues to do. He, and Liquid, devote a great deal of energy to this site and any real returns are still future speculation. I could have gotten along just fine without paying. I paid to show my gratitude. It's not much money for what we DO get.

My Wife is a paid member here and I was planning on buying a membership also. But after seeing howmany times she was unable to get in and the number of times she has been booted out while playing a game. I have decided I did not need to pay for that kind of treatment, I already get it as a free member. =^..^=

I'm also on webtv, and it usually happens after I click on "move and go to next game"... What I do, and it works every time, is when that happens, I click on one of my "fav" buttons to get me back to the main screen. Then I click on a game, and after making my move, instead of clicking on "move and go to next game", I use "move and stay here". From this screen I click on the red numbers that show at the top of the page next to "main page", and that will take me to the next game. I do this 2 or 3 times, and after that the white screen disappears and I can use "move and go to next game" again.

I'm on webtv too, and this does happen once in a while.. I have a feeling it has to do with the cache getting full... but don't quote me... but yes, you need to disconnect and come back to fix it..

I just read my last message and it could be taken the wrong way.. by "Teams can play each other" I mean that a team member may join a 'fellowship tournament' (for members just of that fellowship) and find themselves playing their fellow team members.
I thought I'd better explain that so there was no misunderstanding! :o)
