Here’s my opinion about team tournaments and certainly my message rather replies to the questions of Kookaburra. On my profile, I wrote that team tournaments are my favorite, so I’m ok to join any team that needs a player for a team tournament. However, I must admit that for some games, it can be very frustrating to play in a tournament where the teams aren’t balanced. For example, a team with players with a bkr about 1900-2000 playing with a team with players with a bkr about 1200-1300. The game isn’t interesting : the strong player gets bored, the weak player is disappointed because he has no chance to win. That's why, I usually join the teams on the most popular games, because on these games, the bkr are in the average. And, of course, I’ve my preferences, unfortunately, not the games of checkers, but if a player is missing in a team, so as to join a tournament, tell me, I’ll join the team if it can help.
Crosseyed Mary: Modification : I did a test. It shows only the number of games that friends have on our first page. To see the whole number of games of a friend, we have to modify and go to "opponent" (above the games) and choose the name of this friend.
Crosseyed Mary: For me, it’s the same. In fact, instead of seeing the whole number of games of the friends, it shows only the number of games from the page where we are. It means, for example, that if you have several pages of games, and that you are now on the first page of your games, and that the games of your friends are on the second page, you won’t see any number beside the name of your friends. I don’t know if what I’m saying is clear...
Carnie: If you upgrade, you change immediately and the previous subscription is suitable. Example : you are knight for 2 months and you buy a membership for a rook for 6 months. You’ll get 7 months rook : 2 months as knight are changed into 1 month rook. I’m sure about my answer. It happened to one of my friend.
Sujet: Re: Membership Payments - anyone in DE to help me?
Aganju: Is it possible for you to transfer money on the Paypal account of someone else ? Then, this person could pay for you. I can do this if you need, and if you trust me.
Aganju: I don’t like the idea of the blacklist, I hate the idea showing someone guilty, as in court. I prefer an effective action as do not allow to join tourneys or games (for anyone) while you have a game where it is your move. I think it’s short with one game because there’s always an opponent on line. Five games would be perfect. Indeed, with 500 games running, the player will block himself.
playBunny: Yes, I prefer this idea of a tournament with a predictable duration than to be measured in my moves. I think I don’t like the idea that people could see how fast I am, because sometimes I’m not. I agree with you, it’s not logical that a tournament with 3 days/move can be played in 5 days. 3 days are 3 days ! It’s why I rarely join for more than 3 days because I know it can be 5 days. But I must be honest too : as rook, we see the things differently than other memberships : I don’t like slow players but I don’t really pay attention because these players don’t block me.
SL-Mark: I don’t agree with this. I’m a rather fast player because I’ve few games, usually 50 or 60. When I connect, all my moves are made in the same day. But sometimes, rarely, for personal reasons, I can’t connect for several days. So, with your system, I could be penalized for joining in a tournament. On the contrary, a pawn playing rapidly every day could join it. I think it's not good that a paying member has less benefits than a non-paying member, because it is still a paying member who makes the site live. I understand that some people can’t or don’t want to pay a subscription, it’s their choice, but, for me, tournaments must be open for everyone, people have just to be vigilant about time.
Carpe Diem: Yes, you’re right, we can’t say anything if the player plays at the limit but within the rules. I had noticed you were a fast player : last time, it’s true, we were the 1st to finish our game. I must admit I prefer to play rapidly because I remember my game. When a player makes a move once a week, it’s difficult to remember what you planned to play. Of course, you can note it but it’s not the same. But I say this although sometimes I can’t play for several days because I’m very busy with my job.
crosseyed: Yes, you’re right : each player is not available in the same way : if he works or not, if he’s away sometimes, etc ... Everyone is different.
Bernice: Yes, you’re right, to ignore someone is not respectful. As in games when we say hello and we wish good luck and some players never answer, not a smiley, not the minimum hi gl. It’s the same : to ignore the opponent isn’t respectful. People concerned will recognize themselves...
heavenrose: I see what you mean but he was a very good player, look at his profile and you’ll see he was number one in several games and this is exceptional. We just wanted to recognize his value as player. Sincere thoughts for him and his family.
ellieoop: I don't like fighting with people. I'm here for fun. I don't want problems. Me and my friend have stopped chatting on the board of the gammon club, as you want. We will talk elsewhere. But I'm going to ask to Doris what is possible to do on the board of her f/s. Just try to be a little tolerant with other people. It would be nice. Don't forget : we're here to spend a good time. Thank you.
ellieoop: In a f/s, the BB decides what can be written or not on the boards. For the gammon club : If Doris doesn't want that we talk about differents subjects, I'll stop chatting. On the contrary, I'll go on talking with the other members of the f/s.
Sujet: Re: Will you be warning them they might warts and other things ?
crosseyed: Humm, I think I forgot but is it really important ? There's a great advantage to join my f/s : people can eat frogs legs, wings of flies and taste my potions.
As it becomes more and more difficult to find players for tournaments, I invite anyone interested to join my fellowship "Spells and magic potions". Everyone is welcome. My f/s will exist as long as it's possible, I renewed my subscription for 6 months and I will renew it as long as it is possible to play. Thank you all.
crosseyed: I prefer Mothersday because I do nothing this day. I've a present and I choose what I want to eat and my children and their father make the meal. I remember that a few years ago, I chose something easy to cook, but now they have experience in cooking, so the meal is better ! It's funny. It makes good memories.
In France, Fathersday is the Sunday 2 or 3 weeks after Mothersday, this year the 18 on June. Is it the same in your country ? Is there a Fathersday in your country ?
I hate to play with slow people. I never join a tournament with time more than 3 days. It's not a problem when we are a rook but I understand it's a real problem for pawns, bishops or knights with limited moves.
speachless: Yes, I agree. In France, a young programmer who begins already costs 5000 euros per month without taxes. If you add taxes.... and it depends in which country is the server. And it's necessary too to be helped with a graphic designer. It's a lot of job.
Marshmud: I think that 60000 dollars for this website is actually very expensive, because this site declines. In France, the average price of websites is lower, even for commercial sites with more customers per month and giving more money. But I can understand that Fencer has difficulties to sell his "baby" he created.
