:) i use notes for that .. but i have to admit its tough in espionage .. also because there is a small bug when you go back in the history .. but still this use of auto vacation could be what people call abuse as its lagging the game

10. Décembre 2004, 12:47:46
Hrqls
the question is why you are using vacation days to prevent those games to time out while you are playing other games .. why dont you play the most urgent ones first ?

10. Décembre 2004, 12:42:12
Hrqls
*nod* true :)

right now i think the abusers are just using their left overs before the year ends .. what about limiting the number of auto vacation days to 5 per month as well ? that would make it a max of 2 times (i think)

10. Décembre 2004, 12:37:20
Hrqls
oops it took me too long to write that post ...

i started using notes as well after i made some plans crash .. it works (although sometimes i forget to read them ;))

10. Décembre 2004, 12:35:38
Hrqls
ok

(although i dont see the problem of slowed down games for rooks, but thats probably because i can hardly fit my games in my spare time nowadays, this site is much too addicting :))

5 days should be enough ... i guess i do have to set some fixed vacation days then ... which i was hoping to be done automatically as well (yep i am lazy :))

(hmm could it be done so that only on (team) tournaments it is limited to 5 days ?)

what if someone uses 5 auto vacation days, then makes 1 move, and uses 5 auto vacation days again (plus of course the max of time per move)

10. Décembre 2004, 12:25:27
Hrqls
thad : i am not saying rooks arent bothered by it, but i wonder why they are bothered.

like kevin said, as a rook you can always start new games and let those slackers go at their pace and ignore their abuse

10. Décembre 2004, 11:52:09
Hrqls
about the auto vacation days ... i agree it doesnt matter anything for rooks .. and can save a lot of games and be very useful

i also agree with other that those same auto vacation days can be a pain for pawns or knights if opponents use them to drag on games to take ages

10. Décembre 2004, 11:44:02
Hrqls
take it easy mastermind ... everyone is just giving their thoughts about the auto vacation .. not reason to get personal

i like the auto vacation days as well .. it saved me when i couldnt get online because my gfs grandmother died .. although my opponent was nice enough to lift the game over the weekend .. the auto vacation days could have saved me

i honestly dont see any problems which rooks can have with it .. but as i said before pawns and knights might get limited in their game play when an opponent drags a game on for too long

so for me i love the feature .. but when i think about what it can do for others .. it might need some tuning :)

10. Décembre 2004, 10:27:59
Hrqls
the 'problem' right now is that people can use their last vacation days towards the end of the year as they will be gone anyway when the new year starts (i guess?)

personally i have no problems with people using autovacation on me .. the time out just takes longer *shrug*

i can see pawns having problems with it though
(and knights if it happens in a team tournament)

Sujet: most users online
just being curious : what was the most users online on brainking ? and when ? and what is the average about lately ? :)

9. Décembre 2004, 13:51:20
Hrqls
the only change i could see is that auto vacation days wont be used if a player was online the during the last 12 hours or so

otherwise it shouldnt be that big a problem to rooks does it ?

for pawns playing with someone using auto vacation its another matter though ..

what about weekend days ?

7. Décembre 2004, 15:09:42

do you have to keep track of what everyone has left .. or is there a list of that as well ?

7. Décembre 2004, 15:07:08

can we place bets on how long certain people will stay in the game ? ;)

7. Décembre 2004, 15:05:49

when more than 1 player has the lowest amount .. will they all drop out ?
(i guess so :))

7. Décembre 2004, 14:57:22
Hrqls
we need to know the minds of our fellow players .. will they gamble high or low ...

of course everyone could put in everything minus 2 in the first round .. so you could be the lonely winner if you put in everything minus 1 .. but thats a low chance :)

hmm change the bkr on every round gained instead of at the end of the complete game :)

7. Décembre 2004, 14:46:07

thanks :)

and with automatic vacation days when games have more than 1 day of negative time .. will it use more than 1 vacation day or will they be timed out .. or will they use more than 1 vacation days

23. Novembre 2004, 20:38:40
Hrqls
what happens when game time isnt suspended anymore ?

i mean .. what happens to the games that have negative time left now ..

i guess games which are less than 1 day over time can use an automatic vacation day (when they have it set) .. does this also works for games with more than 1 day negative time left ?

are vacation days still used even though game time is suspended ? :)

22. Novembre 2004, 08:57:16
Hrqls
Sujet: automatic vacation days
can you see how many vacation days someone has left ?

when a game times out and the player has auto vacation days set .. does it add an extra day to the time for all other games that person is playing as well or does it cost 1 vacation day per timed out game ?

17. Novembre 2004, 18:00:07
Hrqls
heh .. those kids sound like me .. i already have troubles dealing with myself when i have a nightmare after i saw a movie .. cant have the kids with it as well ;)

17. Novembre 2004, 17:38:56
Hrqls
i dont have kids (yet) .. but i wont let them watch adult movies .. i let them play outside or inside with toys .. which are much more educational than watching movies

or let them play on brainking of course :)
