IYT did not have ratings because they feared people would cheat, and sure enough, people could probably set up multipls accoutns and play both sides of a game.... and I say....... so what?????

yes, it is disturbing and annoying, but that's just something that will happen qwith a ratings system. Over at Dweebo's stone games a player tried this very tactic, and in fact, he seems to create a new account for a new rating whenever his rating falls. but people know he is a phony.

People will know these players are phonies by reviewing their games won and lost. People kow who the real gamers are anyway. so if someone were creating multiple accoutns for ratings purposes

My roommate and I have two internet connections. She has a PC and I have a webtv in my bedroom. When her computer was in the shop she used my webtv and would play her IYT games on my webtv as well. So we both were using the same internet system to play at IYT. They sent her an e-mail that two accounts cant come from the same place and one of us would have to pay an upgrade on the site for both of us to use the same internet box. IYT would not allow for both accounts to play from the same place.

YEs that is what we were told Gubbe. Let me ask you this and this could make a difference. Are either your wife or you a paid member of IYT? If one is then they will allow it. If not they look at it as you trying to play more games and get more moves by creating another account.

That is why they allowed it then. My roommate does not play at IYT anymore but plays here. I only play at IYT for battleboats and sabotage. When they get those games going here I wont play at IYT anymore. They raised prices and reduced the non paying members moves to 25 a day. There are not too many games you can get done with only 25 moves and if you want multiple games they will take way too long with that restriction.

iyt does not allow multiple accounts, i have a paid membership there, yet they wont let my daughter play! we use the same computer, i wrote to them as requested and didnt even get a reply! ok, so maybe they didnt get the mail?! maybe i should write again, but after what they have done to the non-members, i will not be renewing my membership there... as you say, 25 moves a day is rubbish! 40 was not too good either.. ok if you just moved occaisionally! but for us addicted players, no good at all.
this is a brilliant site, keep up the good work .

Sujet: IYT websupport
since the power outage in december during the snow storms
they have failed to catch up with mails - only occasionally I got
answers, although a reply in between 24 hours to members was
promised. Neither I do think that is okay. :/
for people managing browser profiles properly or, even using
proxy-servers it is no problem though to endlessly create new accounts.
aware of that fact particulary annoying that they give a lot of statics
to honest users by their, rules no obstacle for humbug-drivers ... ~*~

yes i realise it was since the power outage, as thats when i sent the mail, i did write via a members mail...and yes they did have a lot of mail sent then, as we all know they had so many problems then, which i respect. I am an honest player, have never set up another account, just to get ratings up!

the problem you encountered was reported by many users ...
I'm not sure what happens to cast it ... I cAn use my 2nd ID
(granted to paying members even for playing unless in the same tourney)
without problems even from the same browser profile - onto that
a former girlfriend has her own profile on my puter and used it too,
until she left iyt a few months ago ... but as I enter the web in full
stealth-mode anyway, I'm probably not the average user to give advice ... :")

for me monitored boards are one of the main attractions at brainking ...

at the moment I'm playing so many tournaments, it would be almost
physically impossible to monkey around - don't see the sense anyway ... :Þ

about one year ago we used those additional IDs to create little
soap-operas on the boards - for harmless fun ... but meanwhile,
a lot of senseless background noise makes it almost futile, there.

thanks to Fencer and Harley it won't happen here !
Cheers ! :) ... ~*~

chattytea: it may not mean much but my husband and I are on webtv. We signed up with IYT and they do not allow multiple accounts so my husband got the membership and then we wrote to them and then my account was working immediately...so I don't see why your daughter couldn't play...I agree with you on IYT...only 25 moves on there is not good but as for the membership I don't find it too bad. As much as I play here I'm glad you get unlimited moves especially for non members. Keep up the good work fencer :)

Thanks Dakota Spring, I did write to them, but there was no response! which annoyed me a little... as I do have a membership there...and yes as far as the membership goes, i have no fault, I have some very good friends on there too... so I will be sorry to give up my membership there for that reason, but also some of my friends are non members!

yes Fencer its a great site, i joined in november, but didnt play a game till 3 weeeks ago! within a day of playing i had bought a membership! I was that convinced it was a good site now :)
