Tuesday: Tuesday, does he do this whining the mintue you get into the car?? You can try using a technique called desensitzing..I have to use it often in my training of dogs because they have gotten to far beyond their owners ability to help...even had to to it with Damien in the car..he was AWEFUL taking for a ride, you'd get there and your ears would be bleeding (almost, lol)
Tuesday: I have seen that the females are far more affectionate then the males,BUT very goofy at times(think of how human females get moody)..males are more serious, altho just as fun!! Damien will let me snuggle him for about 5 seconds then is like,ok,Mom,seriously.....Miss Nik sits on me for hugs, lol. It all boils down to what each person prefers...I honestly prefer the male...and will never have anything but my GSD's
Artful Dodger: I think any breed can be "child friendly" IF raised around kids...also depends on what you are looking for,big or small, male or female. What kind of kids?? small children that are hyper and running around?? Your local shelter will be more then happy,I am sure to help guide you towards a dog that is suited for your needs and wants. If you want a purebred but can't find one through the local shelter, try to google a breed specific shelter....TONS out there...good luck!!
Tuesday: I know alot of people that have their dogs(s) on the raw diet...which is pretty much that stuff, raw meat and ground up bones....I will stick to dog food for mine,lol....they don't like veggies or fruit..I try to offer them some now and again and they look at me like I was smoking crack!!
ok,now in all seriousness,if you look at this dogs body language, you can CLEARLY see that he is tense and not comfortable with the situation...then the reporter reaches over top of him (a dominate posture in a dogs eyes) so the dog reacts as alot of dogs would...dogs can't SAY..hey,bud,go away..BUT he was trying to tell him by his body language.....if only the guy was more observant, lol
Tuesday: it was too,and like Tuesday said, you could hear that she was giddy with excitement...I mean, even her handlers couldn't see that it was a joke..OMG!! When they started saying about how fun it was to take life away from something and she just LAUGHED....I thought she loved life?? I guess if you are a wolf or moose, your life isn't worth much
Tuesday: You would think they would want to run the ads in cities...ya know, where not a whole heck of alot of people would be hunters,I'm sure alot don;t even know of this horrific practice..god,it sickens me! Did you hear about the 2 Canadian comidians that "tricked" her and her handlers into an interview and then started in a bit about the ariel hunting? I heard it on the radio last night, what am idiot!! lol
Jim Dandy: I know ads have been running the info about the ariel wolf shoting, just not sure in what part of the country, because I haven't seen any of them...I have ZERO respect for her.
Jim Dandy: I was referring to,like the idiot at the pig farm abusing the pigs....oh trust me...my Miss Nik abuses the heck out of Damien BUT she doesn't beat him, shove things up his anus, make him scream in pain and then laugh to a fellow dog friend about it saying that ya gotta make em scream
Tuesday: animals eating other animals and plants ARE a natural way of life tho...differnce is,animlas in the wild kill to eat, they don't poach each other and they don't abuse each other and joke about it before hand....see if you can find the link in your browser history...ya got me curious now,lol :)
Tuesday: I have to agree that the thought of that kind of grosses me out...dunno WHY the thought of a human adult drinking HUMAN milk bothers me and not humans drinking cow's milk...but,yeah,it does...I agree with the whole bodily fliuds thing....I would never eat Ben and Jerry's again, lol
wetware: pretty bad when that can upset cats! Horried stuff.I know it was pushing it BUT I really thought it needed to be posted...the more people that know about what is going on,the more can step in to help the ones that don't have a voice.
Jim Dandy: oh,man,if I knew the comment wouldn't be taken off here, what I could say to that cat = woman thing...BUT if you mind slides into the gutter like mine did...ok! there is the edit that Artful Dodger will hit me with, lmao!! I am outta here before he yells at me!
let me know if this link doesn't work and I will paste the story here...they ARE investigating and they are going to try and prosicute these idiots that did this!
Jim Dandy: I am looking EVERYWHERE on Peta's site for an address, went to the forums...oh dear lord...don't even get me strated on those things! Good thing my account got messed up,telling me wrong password,so I try to reset it and it's like..oh,no..thats the right password..oh! whatever..I would have said summin in there I couldn;t take back,lol...anywhoooooo,I am going to try google for an address, see what I can find. And...OMG Tasers!!! I'm SO in!!
Jim Dandy: what rod03801 said,basically..an animla taking down another animal is nature, they do it to survive. There IS a humane way for a farm to kill an animal, that video is NOT humane. An animal kills to survive...a humane does that because they are frigged up in the head!
Tuesday: I would think so..I mean, what do THEY care...I used the page to write an e-mail to the company....Peta has, what I think is a VERY decent plan in place for the farms to adhear to bu 2011,I think it is...I wrote to Hormel, practically BEGGING them to consider what Peta has to say...I will make sure not to but any of their product anymore...
Tuesday: I saw the guy beating the first pig..and OMG,Tuesady...the screams that came from her from her pain...man..I can't tell you what I felt...I had to stop watching..I couldn't take the screams.HOW can someone do that..God help those animals.
PLEASE know that this video is VERY DISTURBING..I had to stop watching it because..well,I just had to stop....if you can not watch,PLEASE take a minute or two to write to the Hormel Company..PLEASE....I don't think I will be right after hearing and seeing that video for a while now
Tuesday: we have a TON of the mills here around us..It just surprises me that they can get away with the treatment of the animlas like that! I won't go into the type of people that run these mills, but anyone that does a bit of reasearch will know who they are...seems they are exempt from alot of the laws we are held to.I don't get that.Petland, whcih is a petstore close to us buys from a broker out of Pittsburg.I overheard one sales person telling a customer what a close relationship they have with the breeder....My husband said, yeah, now how about telling them what kind of conditions the pups REALLY come from.Wish they would have herad that comment.
Tuesday: It sickens me when I see people going into a petstore to buy a puppy. If they were able to see WHERE the dogs come from and WHAT the conditions the parents live in,it would sicken them.Need to be stronger laws against people that run the puppymills
rod03801: I'm with ya on that one, about caring more about the animals!! I use to work at an animal hospital/humane dept and the things I saw come through WERE really disturbing. How people can do that stuff to an animal is unreal...I think these will be good stories tho (the Vick dogs) to show how dogs CAN be rehabed to fit into society, even after suffering at the hands of humans.
Saving the Michael Vick DogsFRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5 9P FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5 8P FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5 7P FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5 9P FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5 8P FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5 6P In April 2007, the nation was shocked when dozens of traumatized pit bulls were discovered on Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vicks property. Follow the journey of four of the most challenging Vick dogs as DogTown helps rehabilitate them.
Last year’s federal case against Vick dominated the media for months, generating public concern for the dogs seized from Bad Newz Kennels—and for animal victims across the country still involved in this brutal “sport.” The sentence may have been handed down, but the concern and questions still remain. What happened to the dogs seized in the case? How did Vick get involved in this underworld?
Many of these questions will be answered this Sunday night during “Animal Witness: The Michael Vick Case," the premiere episode of Animal Planet’s new series on animal forensics. The one-hour show offers an in-depth look at Vick and exposes the hidden world of dog fighting—and for the first time on national television, lead investigator Bill Brinkman talks about the inner workings of the case.
The episode will also feature interviews with Dr. Melinda Merck, ASPCA Forensic Veterinarian, and Officer Annemarie Lucas, Supervisory Special Investigator, ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement. As reported in ASPCA News Alert, the ASPCA worked closely with federal authorities at every step of the case, first assisting in forensic examinations and later leading behavior evaluations of the seized dogs.
“The involvement of an extremely high-profile celebrity in the horrific sport of dog fighting prompted universal public outrage and condemnation,” says ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres. “This case will forever remain a pivotal point in the history of animal welfare in this country and the world.”
The episode is scheduled to air at 10:00 P.M. EST this Sunday evening, August 24. Please visit Animal Planet online to learn more. Please note, the episode does feature footage from underground dog fighting videos—viewer discretion is advised

wetware: "One is now a therapy dog in Palo Alto." THANK YOU for posting that! thats was an amazing story and those are truly amazing people! It just goes to show that a lil devotion and less fear goes a LONG way!!

ScarletRose: The ATTS (American Temperament Test Society) has standard tests that they give the dogs. The American Pit bull terrier came in with an 84.1% passing rate. The American Staffordshire terrier came in with an 83.9% passing rate. Those are not bad figures when you consider that so called "family dogs" such as the collie passed with a 79.2%, that cute little Chihuahua passed with only a 71.4%, and Americas favorite family breed, the Golden Retriever passed with an 83.8%.
I don't believe that a pitbul has ever had the number one ranking as the most "vicious" dog. When I owned my dalmatian, they were ranked higher then the pit as far as biting goes
Artful Dodger: well,I am blitzing off a STRONGLY worded e-mial AND making a phone call tomorrow to the all breed club..they cancelled the test tongiht but never bothered to notify! With gas at $4.09 a gallon,it cost me more then $10.00 to drive there and back for nothing! UGH! I will have to test Lil Miss NIk next month then and then get her certified right after.
I am off to take my dogs to take their CGC test now, wish us luck,lol...kidding,they don't need luck...well,maybe my Lil MIss Nik does, she likes to play more then do her obidiance.Hoping that next month I will be able to get her certification for her to be a therapy dog :)

Artful Dodger: Damien use to LOVE kids..now he is more muture and a bit older and doesn't tolerate them as well,so I don't let kids pet him. They can look, but not touch, because I will NOT take that chance. A WONDERFUL way to break the ice with a dog is to offer treats..I tell everyone I meet this,it starts to earn the trust of a dog.If a person is truly "bad" the dog knows, and he will let YOU know. ANY DOG that just flys off seemingly unprovaoked has issues, weather it be breeding, socialization (or LACK OF IT) dominance issuses,or terirtorial issuses, but these can ALL be adderessed by the owner being responsible. I train dogs and do you think I will walk up to a strange dog,big or little that I don't know? no way..why? because I am not stupid, lol.I also do not EVER allow my dogs to be offlead,EXCEPT at the training club, and it is under INTENSE training that they can be offlead.I have at LEAST 5 dogs a week run up on us at the park and the owner yelling that famous.."oh!! it's ok!! my dog doesn't bite!!" ummm,ALL DOGS CAN BITE! and what if mine did bite? people are so ignorant when it comes to dogs and it just rubs me wrong!
Sujet: Re: wow! who would have thought THIS..oh,wait,ME!
Jim Dandy: You never hear about the siezure detection Pit. The search and rescue pit that found seventeen 9/11 victims. You never hear about the drug dog, you never hear about the bomb sniffing pit, you never hear about the seeing-eye pit, or the helping-paw pit, do you?
Sujet: Re: When you think of dangerous dog breeds, which animal do you picture: a pit bull or a wiener dog?
srnity: oh!! I read an article of why small dogs seem to have that "superman ego"!! So many owners hold their little dogs all the time, which puts them at a level to look down on other dogs,so when they are actaully put on the ground, they still have this sence that they are "over top" the bigger one. And I agree...I have been bit more times by of all things, weiner dogs, then any other types. Dogs have PREY DRIVE..it is what God intended a dog to have,it is nature. When IRRESPONSIBLE owners tie their dogs out and never walk them or never mentally stimulate them, they go stir crazy and they see kids riding by on bikes and running past screaming, all the things kids do and the dog one day snaps. That isn't the dogs fault,it is the owners fault.Just like it was the owners fault that I got bit by the weiner dog, because anytime that dog would snap at someone, they would laugh,it was cute and funny to them.Wasn't so funny when my leg was bleeding tho, gotta tell ya.
