Artful Dodger: For someone who tries to come across as both niave and street smart, she sure took alot of abuse and came back for more.I don't buy her story for a second
Sujet: Re:Republicans secretly think Obama is the Messiah and are being given a wake up call that he can't fix everything at once
Tuesday: I think it would be foolish to think many Republicans aren't putting a little more mustard on the fastball when opportunity presents itself towards Obama. They got hammered from the left regarding GW,it's payback time in many of their minds.
Sujet: Re:Republicans secretly think Obama is the Messiah and are being given a wake up call that he can't fix everything at once
Artful Dodger: I think in hindsight he could have done better, but at the time there was little uproar. Most were duped into thinking BP had things under some degree of control.
Creepy Old Man: It will be interesting to watch how this plays out.It boggles the mind to think Gen. McChrystal would not be aware of the stir his comments would cause,it sounds like schoolyard gossip. The thing is, it doesn't just damage Obama, it damages the office of President
Sujet: Re: Anyone who can't see that Obama is an empty suit must have blinders on. He came from nowhere without any real experience and he will most likely go back again
Artful Dodger: If Obama had quit politics election night, he would have rivaled RFK in the "what if" catagory. With some people, less is more.He is in a bad position, he will never be able to excite the public like he did during the campaign, he peaked far too early. His only hope is another lousy crop of Republican opponents, and that's a very real scenario
Artful Dodger: The public perception is that republicans are defending BP, this plays into the public perception that republicans defend the rich, not a wise stand to take in my opinion, especially in regards to the suffering New Orleans has endured.
Artful Dodger: So, it falls on Obama, but at the same time Barton,Bachman, and a few other republicans are saying he was too hard on BP?........this was a battle I was sure the republicans would take a pass on.To see certain republicans say Obama has been too hard on BP is not a wise public position.
Artful Dodger: Obama was SUPPOSED to be better than that, he aint, and buyer remorse has set in........you do have to give the Olberman's and the Maddow's credit though, the right wing press backed GW no matter what, at least the left is showing objectivity
re:"He may pontificate about holding BP to account but Obama and his leftist cronies fully intend to exploit this crisis to sneak liberty-stealing cap and trade legislation past the American people."
He could have taken lessons from the Bush admin, they milked 9/11 to the extreme. The Patriot Act is a good example of legislation that was pushed through using 9/11 as leverage, and it is a fine example of removing certain liberties.Heck, Rudy Giuliani can hardly get through a pargraph without invoking 9/11. it reached parody levels.
Artful Dodger: I'm not impressed by the Obama era to this point,he has not fulfilled his promises in many areas.Basically has turned off his base, and been met by the cold shoulder from the right, not a recipe for a 2nd term
Artful Dodger: 3/4 of your comments have nothing to do with the oil spill, that's playing politics. What's with that Barton guy calling the 20 billion a shakedown slush fund? People need concrete action just to put food on the table, he did achieve that for the time being.I think pretty much everybody agreed that BP were the best people to handle the situation early on, hindsight is 20/20
Artful Dodger: Poor Obama, he can't win from losing.I am pretty confident that if he had not expressed the very real frustration of the nation by saying he wanted to find out "who's ass to kick" he would be denounced by the right for being soft on big oil.
Artful Dodger: This kinda reminds me of why I don't like someone buying me dinner. You feel inhibited from ordering what might be the best, but most pricey items on the menu, and can't really complain if you don't enjoy the meal.........Obama has traded the right to call the shots for BP paying the tab on the fixit job and clean up, no matter how lousy a job they do.
The USA should be exploiting their vast reserves of natural gas, he has a point.
Whoever gets the jump in "green energy" will be the leader of the next century.A whole economy and workforce would be energized by becoming the leader in this area.
(V): Oil reaps more rewards than Jaffa oranges.Without the support of the USA, Israel would have been obliterated just for existing.I'm pretty sure Israel would prefer to live peacefully, with no threats to their right to exist.
(V): Peace has been made with Jordan, Egypt.........Jordan had control of the Gaza from 1948- 1967,why did they not give statehood to the Palestinians? Many middle east countries fall over each other in support of the Palestinian issue, they are used as pawns.
Artful Dodger: No argument here,it seems many woulld like to throw Israel under the bus, to appease known terrorist groups who populate boats with well intentioned bleeding hearts as human shields to break down their passage for weapon reinforcements............say that 10 times fast
(V): If she had simply said Israel should blah blah blah,in regards to the Palestinian issue, it would be one thing. The request Israelis be banished to two places that still hold very taumatic memories for Jews worldwide took it over the edge in my opinion. If she was ignorant to that, she clearly is not qualified to hold a seat in the WH press corps anyway.
Artful Dodger: Helen Thomas had a renaissance during the GW era amongst liberals.Longevity seems to be her sole badge of honor, other than being a pioneer for women in the press corps.Let's put it this way, if her comments were regarding a similar scenario regarding African Americans, she would be slammed from all sides.I am frankly disgusted by the comments I have read on typically democrat websites, she is a hero to 90% of the posters I have read.
Sujet: Re: I have no idea what the Apollo missions or a DNA test have to do with determining the correct method/means of interpreting the data on global warming.
Bernice: Cleaning up garbage is a start,we Canadians are used to the typical "your cities are so clean" comments, it's almost considered a stereotype now.I think emmissions are the next mountain to climb. If I was a global warming naysayer, if losing the argument means cleaner air,I think I could live with that defeat
Sujet: Re: I have no idea what the Apollo missions or a DNA test have to do with determining the correct method/means of interpreting the data on global warming.
(V): I'm with astute broadcaster Bill O'Reilly on this one.Even if global warming is a natural cycle, cleaning up the earth isn't a terrible idea anyway.I mean honestly,I can't think of a better error in judgement.
(V): It's a complicated issue with no easy answers.Canada's east coast fisherman have been devestated by restrictions the past decade, and their economy suffers greatly. These days our grocery stores sell farmed fish mostly,if the tag doesn't sat "wild" it is farmed, and the taste does not compare.I think the boat has sailed on this issue, it's too late to restore our waters.
Tuesday: It's come across to me, that Republicans mock educated folks calling them "Harvard types" and other pointed names.I will say it does serve them well.Democrats on the other hand should learn from the success of short, simplified talking points, the Republicans have refined it to an art form.
In a March 9, post titled, "Obama's war on fishing?!?!?!" Michelle Malkin posted the ESPN column's claim that "the Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters." Malkin added, "Longtime readers know I love to fish and have been at war with the anti-fishing nuts at PETA for years."
After fish, what's next? Will Obama ban kittens? And then hold Kitten death panels?
Tuesday: I'm not ready to brand the group anti black, though there clearly is a number of them who feel that way.I just think they can't stomach a Democratic president leading them.It seems they are freaked out about the taking of their liberties, well why weren't they upset when GW implemented wiretapping and other intrusive measures?
