It must be nice to be able to play as long as you want per day. Maybe I should not even play any games since I work long days at 2 jobs and then because I like to have a clean house, spend another couple of hours trying to wash, cook & clean. I guess I am very selfish to want to play in a tournament that was set up for 1 week moves and then actually think I should take a week between moves.

and then Godforbid I get sick as I was for the last month. *shakes head in dismay*

This tournament is for players who are currently playing less than 60 games, and who PROMISE to make at least one move per day!!!

MidnightMcMedic: I have already run three "invitation only" tournaments in three weeks - all of which have finished within a few days. It's a very satisfying way of playing a tournament. It would just be nice to be able to play other people, and when the tournament is advertisesd as "1-day per move", not have players with 500 or so open games join the tournament and use the "automatic vacation" feature when they don't, won't, or can't move once a day like everybody else!

grenv: It's meant for people like me who just wants to get a few games started with a long time limit. If you prefer shorter time limits, or want to see the result of a tournament as quickly as possible, then don't join. There are plenty of tournaments with time limits suiting your taste.

pgt: Maybe create a tournament and just invite people you know are not going on vacation or who are faster movers. It is just a thought since the other option is not available at this time.

There was a discussion some time ago about having a tournament option with no vacation days and no automatic vacations. Has there been any progress on making this an option? It would certainly eliminate a lot of the gripes here, and those of us who like to play a few fast games would not be frustrated with long tedious boring dull tournaments (especially hyperbackgammn!) which go on for weeks and weeks, when 90% of the games are finished in a couple of days.

MidnightMcMedic: What the problem is is that paid memebers enter too many tournaments, play as many games as they want, but DON'T play as many games as they have signed up for, thus frustrating both paid AND unpaid members!

You can also "filter" the tournament list to just show Battleboats Plus games - HERE which there are a few to choose from.

grenv: (And Stevie) I am also frustrated by players who join tournaments and won't move. I am currenltly playing in a "fast" Hyperbackgammon tournament, and most games have finished - it has been running 6 days. But ONE player HAS NOT MADE A SINGLE MOVE YET!! WHy would she enter the tournament? It is very frustrating. Can we PLEASE eliminate automatic vacations for tournaments so that selfish players cannot make 1 week tournaments stretch out ibnto boring three month affairs!! PLEASE!

Stevie: Is it just me or are people really getting upset over games? Don't we have the choice to play in BBW's tournaments? Don't we have the choice to form our own and not let him in? This seems silly - just don't play him and get on with life.... I have no issue with BBW being new to the site - he's been very helpful...

I had at most 250 games. but i managed to move every game that was my move in a day..thats respectable.
but to move only those that time out in a few hours is pigging ignorant

19. Février 2005, 04:15:05

400 moves is only 0.5 moves/game/day for BBW.

if i play 120 moves, it's 4 moves/game/day which is more reasonable, since i usually have about 30 games going.

i'd like to see that stat on everyones profile. That would mean we could choose players to challenge that move as quickly as ourselves.

not off topic for tourny board...youve xplained yourself before by saying you play on many sites etc etc etc..
well maybe you take on too much????
YOU ARE RUINING TOURNAMENTS FOR OTHERS WITH YOUR SLOW PLAY

Actually I just took a look of what team tournaments we currently have, and what games we don't have a team tournament for - so here are a few other ideas:

  • 15th most popular game - Pro Five in Line
  • 16th most popular game - Swap Five in Line
  • 31st most popular game - Fast Espionage
  • 32nd most popular game - Fischer Random Chess
  • 35th most popular game - Spider Linetris

    Plus would like to see:
  • 45th most popular game - Dark Chess
  • 47th most popular game - Small Espionage
  • 63rd most popular game - Crazy Screen Chess

Plus I skiped a couple of some-what popular games since they are not my favorite, but I guess I should mention those also:

  • 17th most popular game - Anti Backgammon
  • 20th most popular game - Battleboats

OK, that is all for now. :-)
