only around 3 days left before the team tourney starts
I actually didn't want to play in such a large tournament because i fear i will die of old age before it finishes, that's all.
Actually that's been a problem with all the team tournaments, one slow player means the sections don't finish.
It would be better if at least a match could be decided by winning more than half the games instead of waiting for everything to finish. Until then I will probably not play them.
i didnt look at the section size .. but people said they didnt want to play with teams of 12 persons because they would have to play too many games that way .. that confuses me
The section size also affects the number of games played. Assuming the section size is constant, the number of team players doesn't affect how many games each player playes - it is simply (games against each player) * (teams per section - 1).
the bigger the teams needed the less games people have to play in a team tournament .. isnt it ?
lets say we have 120 players ... which can be either 10 teams of 12 players or 20 teams of 6 players
the 10 teams of 12 players let all 12 players of each team play against the corresponding player of all other teams .. giving 9 games per player in a team
for the 20 teams of 6 players this would mean 19 games per player in a team
Please try it now. You should be able to join another team of the same game type, even if the team tournament is still running. But you cannot do it if the current tournament is in the "sign up" status, just to avoid joining more than one team for the same tourney.
Well, if players are allowed to leave a team (on the fellowship page) after the corresponding team tournament is started and join another team for another team tournament, it should solve this problem in the easiest way.
Stevie - but if you have a fellowship that could easily enter 2 teams of 5 for Backgammon - why not? rather than players either not playing or transferring to other fellowships (like what has happened this BG tournament). If they cant raise two teams - they enter one.
I can see what you say bumble, but to start creating even more fellowships will create more problems for those who are members of lots as it is (the 'Wombats' one being for a good reason of course).
I just think there should and could be an easier way around something like this. As it is some big boss's are struggling to fill team tournaments as much as they have fellowship members wanting to play, BUT to have such a high target set to be able to enter does not seem right for some of the fellowhips. Alot (even the larger ones) can not as much as would like to get a team together, unless it is Backgommon of course LOL.
MM: We had a problem in 'Wombats' recently. We wanted to enter a team but the big boss, cariad, was in hospital and the deadline was fast approaching. rhiannon started her own fellowship and invited all the members of 'Wombats' so that we could get a team together.
As it turned out cariad was able to enter a 'Wombats' team and rhiannon another team, so in effect 'Wombats' had two teams.
Of course, that isn't practical for a large fellowship but the option of someone creating a new fellowship just to enter a tourney is there.
I see no reason really why a fellowship can not have 2 teams and players decide which one to sign up for. If they have enough for 2 teams, then both can enter. I think this was suggested a few days ago.
Awww, okay, im sorry to jump in this discussion :-) Yep, i would not be willing play that many games.. would not be attractive either as a tourny! I am trying to get my teams formed, but I tell them, i dont' need more then 5 / 8 people :-) Perhaps you can start thinking of forming 2 teams.. this time team 1 plays and next time team 2 plays :-) Hows that for an idea..
I am sure i could Radiant, the point i am making is that how many games you are going to end up playing (thats the reason he left).
22 for every Team that enters (i think lol), thats a hell of alot if you get a few teams entered even for the addicted players.
I agree with what Bry says about Backgammon being the only game that could work with this amount of players.
sorry to hear MM.. but if there are so many other people signed up im sure there is someone willing to be helpful to sign up as the captain.. They all would like to play the tourny, right?! ;-) Goodluck, nevertheless..
I have to agree 12 players is too much (switched colours as well). I had 12 signed up, but my Captain just left as he did not want to be stuck in such a BIG tourny :-(
Sujet: Re: ! True to Yourself ! Battleboats Tourny is won by.....
Radiant tyvm, it was a really good finals match. I think it was 1 of the best 1 I have been in. Think most every game came down to the wire. And Oldhamgirl thxs for making it a gr8888t match.
Can someone tell me if a tournament will not accept more players signing up when the maximum number of players is reached, even if the last day to sign-up has not been reached?
Hrqls was asking for people to join a 5 in Line team ~ send me a message or join Nooks and Crannies and join the relevant team there.
We have 6 players and need at least 6 more please.
