Maybe you are right BBW. But I swear I'm remembering it correctly. I'm not saying the person with the lower score ended up winning the tournament, but tying it.. I COULD be remembering the situation all wrong, certainly..
I agree it would be nice if the program would be able to decide the winner earlier on, in the situations when the outcome of games still going on won't matter.
I had also been thinking about a feature where the creator can have an option when creating the tournatment, to have future rounds start automatically. (and the option to have it the way it is now..)
EDIT: I just went and looked at what the S-B exactly is.. And I see you are correct. I wonder what I was remembering....
I work at a nursing home, maybe it's affecting me.. LOL..
Actually if someone has a lower score, they should never go to the next round. The only time the S-B comes into play is when 2 (or more) players have the same score.
But to have a smarter game engine that could determine when the winner is first noticed would be nice, and also where the next rounds start automaticly without the tournament creator having to do anyting would also be good.
The only potential problem comes when the winner isn't totally obvious. I have run into tournaments where someone's score was lower than mine, but at the end when the "S-B" was figured out, they actually tied me. If the tournament creator didn't know how to figure out the "S-B", or did it incorrectly, that other person wouldn't have been included in the next round...
It probably doesn't happen very often, but it certainly does happen..
EDIT: In reading your post again, I'm now thinking I may have misunderstood what you were suggesting... so excuse me, if I'm totally off..
In the tournements sometimes all games are ready except one or two less important games.Perhaps it would makes sense, that the tournement creator can start the next round if we have the winners of each group? Otherwise there is a long time until the next round begins and the most players perhaps have forgotten this tournement.:)
Could the description on a Tourny page be larger fonts than the rest of the page or made more obvious than the rest, or even an extra box for us to add impotant rules etc, (and maybe even be red) because it is obvious that some people dont read the tourny description and just sign up . So if an important note hits them in the face then they will know if they shouldnt be signing etc more obviously.
I think grouping the games in the waiting room according to game type, instead of alphabetical, would be a great idea. But I personally like being able to see all the available games on ONE page.. Or maybe an option to check off the specific games you want to see everytime you enter the waiting room, (with the option to "see all games").
OH, and I don't know what "rollover unfolding to submenus" means, but maybe if someone describes them, we webtv users can tell you if we have seen that sort of thing working for us. A lot of times things don't work exactly the same for us, but do, in a modified way. One example is when on a computer you click something and it brings up a new "window", on webtv, some of these are handled by putting this new "window" at the bottom of the page.. and the screen scrolls down to it, and if you scroll up, you see the original page you clicked off of. (Not that any of that has ANYthing to do with the "rollover unfolding to submenus" thing, just an example as to how things sometimes work differently for us.. lol)
I also don't like the idea of "rollover" menus and such - making things too fancy can make it harder for some players to play.
I don't use the waiting room, but an idea - how about orginizing the waiting room by game type. For example:
CHESS GAMES:
chess game #1
chess game #2
Loop chess game #1
anti chess game #1
BACKGAMMON GAMES:
backgammon game #1
backgammon race game #1
etc......
I think possible orginizing it like that might be better then just alphabetic.
I used to be on a "chatprogram" Paltalk ..(Paltalk.com) there you can click a users name and chose file transfer.
I have no idea how it works :) Just a thougth/idea.
Okay, than we must have more good chessplayer, than we have more chessgames in the waiting room, more new players see these games ,play and join, again more games in the waiting room ....:)
subpages exist for other menu-items as well.
nice could be a rollover unfolding to different
gametypes, perhaps with a notification - games yes, no, how many.
the left navigation bar is fairly unstructured anyway
and needs a workout - ergonomy says, amount of group-items
should preferably not extend five - the so-called finger-horizon.
But they still wouldn't find any greater number of waiting games. It's not as if the number of waiting games is so great that it's difficult to look through. If the desired game type is absent surely they'll put some up themselves?
Perhaps we should have different waiting rooms, one for chess and variants, one for checkers,...etc.because most chessplayers are not interested at gammons or checker games.
My impression is that , chessplayers which are new on this site and see in the waiting room only battleboats, backgammon or lines, they don`t join but go away to sites where they can find more and only chess.
I know this has been brought up before but I would like to see some ladder tournaments for games like backgammon, chess, etc. How hard would that be to do?
Fencer, I have a friend who would love to come to this site and play Checkers. But the graphics for the pieces are rather confusing. Any chance this will be fixed in BK V.2?
ROFL cheeky mare!! hee hee!!!! I asked for that! Now shush, this isn't a feature request!! :oP (I have to think of something to stop you picking on me!!)
people hung them over doorways as protection against thunder, lightning and other evils. , all symbolizing fertility and everlasting life. , i think our chrismas trees represent some of the same traditions too .
Poor Fencer, you're such a sweety.Better than Santa.I'll get Harley and we'll dress up in those cute little green outfits and be your helpers. She's known for crazy stuff.hehe
Magenta Spiral: When the new version of BrainKing is finished and launched.
Linda J: I've already got one. Unfortunatelly, I didn't have a chance to use it yet. I am overloaded.
