diogenysos & Gabriel Almeida: I have to agree.

There used to be quite a few Code writers here (sadly most have left now) who could have helped. Maybe if Fencer was interested he could look about for someone, make then 2nd in charge (under him of course) or something. It would be such a shame if this site ever has to close just beause there are too many bug problems etc..... to keep it running.

There must be someone interested (if Fencer is of course).....its a shame Tibs started his own site, he may have been.

Anyway, just have to wait and see

Just a thought should Fencer want to pass sometime.....

How about having time-outs the same as they do on Dragonheels Lair

Give your opponent the option to claim the game once the you have timed out. I have timed-out by minutes or hours before, for silly reasons (work or dodgy internet) and i am sure some of my friends here would not choose to win a game this way.

I am sure i am not the only one who has now run out of vacation days, so no doubt i will time-out on lots more before the end of the year, or like was suggested many years ago, give people the option to buy more vacation days with their Brains.

I guess you could always restrict it if people want to be so serious, and say not to have it on red dot games

Fencer...I know you are VERY busy working on the Android Application right now but could you have a little think about something else please

I am sure it was mentioned years ago....

Can you think of a way where Fellowship Tournament Winners can Automatically get posted to a Fellowship Discussion Board rather than our Event Box.

For example, something in Settings where those messages could either arrive in the Event Box or get diverted & the contents posted as a Message on a DB of our choice (as many Fellowships have boards for results anyway)

Would be a lovely thing to have mainly for those who run Fellowships with LOTS of Tournaments & Results to let others know about as trust me once you fall behind it is a nightmare to catch up

Fencer: After just deleting hundreds of various types of messages from the events page (95% of them unread) i would agree with what rednaz23 says

Personally i never read any messages in the event page apart from Tournament is finished OR Team match over.

I know this is personal choice, so i think either a filter OR some sort of Settings would be good. This has been mentioned a few times in the past, even before the Event box was brought in and all messages used to go to the Message box. I never saw the point of all these messages.

Creating a lot of Tournaments means i get HUNDREDS of messages telling me Next round of your tournament is started which i have no reason to know about really, i wish i could turn them off.

Diverting them straight to the Trash was always my idea if we couldn't turn them off

This isnt a complaint Fencer, just something to improve the site and make it easier for players to find what they are looking for amongst a lot of stuff they are not interested in

It would certainly save a lot of time. I just entered a few Tournaments, and it was a pain making sure i entered the correct games in each one

Really, if Fencer was keen on the idea, if he did use the ones in Settings (Game filter), it should be quite simple

Sujet: Tournament sign-up - Favourites
Fencer, just had a very simple idea to start the year (sshhh don't say a word lol)

Often when i goto enter a Tournament which contains all games, i will only enter the same 40 games for example (ones i would call my Favourites). This can of course be a pain, tedious and often i may miss the odd one by mistake.

So i thought, how about some sort of favourite system ? Then when you goto enter a Tournament, a favourite button could show up somewhere on screen, you click it, and it selects all games you wish to enter (that are available in that Tournament).

So, how to set all this up ??? AND it came to me.....we already have it.....use the Game Filter page from settings. Either:

a) a new section could be created there

OR

b) use the top section 'Select games which you want to show up at the Waiting Games page' as your Favourites as well. (which presumably are your favourites)

Of course, this is just an idea to simplify the signing up process, and the way i see it.

Yourself & others may have a better idea

Fencer, just a small request (as it is a Bank holiday here lol).

Would it be possible (well, i know you say everything is possible lol) that when Team challenges are made, that the Boss of the Fellowship gets some sort of notification as well. Maybe a red number beside the Tab in the fellowship if not a message sent to them. Some Teams that get challenged do not have Captains (although Bosses can enter the Teams without one), and some captains just miss the messages i think.

I just got sent a message about a new challenge, and when i got there i have loads waiting

Just a small thing. Would it be possible to give Big Bosses the power to sign Teams up without a Captain ?

I often get a team together, but no one wants to be captain.....not that the captain does much as we know. So i end up joining a team, signing them up and leaving it again, which all seems totally pointless to me.

Fencer: Thanks, that is brilliant, and hopefully will solve a lot of problems. I can confirm it works on Team Challenges between Fellowships, if one is sent, OR when excepting one

I can not tell you if it works on Team Tournament sign-ups, as i have checked and all players are OK at the moment

(Of course, you could always put a GREY player into one of my Teams for an upcoming Team Tournament, and i would be able to tell you then lol)

Sujet: Re: team challanges and tournaments
Bwild: Of course another option could be that when a BB or Captain selects players for a Team, a small script could run looking at when each player was last on BrainKing and if anyone was over a week (for example) the person entering the Team would get a pop-up or something letting them know, giving them a chance to look into it or change the Team

Fencer lol .... In the Fellowships boxes where we join / leave Teams etc... the players go grey when they have not been here for a month i think

Could you please extend it in some way ? When we get a Team challenge and click the link to accept and select players, there is no way to see who has or has not been here in so long without going back to the Fellowship to look. Maybe have the same grey box show there as well, or even better just to the right, the date they were last here. Of course the same applies to signing Teams up for Team Tournaments.

Can we have a Preview button added to the Fellowship Discussion boards please (well, main boards as well would be nice) for when we edit text etc... printed at the top of the Fellowship page. It would be SO handy for us that Moderate & post to the top of the boards

I know this has been asked for in the past (as it is on my list lol) but can we have another column on the main page (under opponents turn) for red dot games to let us know the time we will have to move ONCE our opponent has moved. When i went to bed last night it was 2 days before i had to make any moves, but of course red dot games (as in this set up - Time: 3 days, Bonus: 8 hours, Limit: 15 days, no days off ) do not fall into that ONCE your opponent has moved, hence Time-outs. At least we would have some idea if we had something to go by

coan.net: Same here, i could not care a less either, BUT that is not all that goes in there (like your reply message etc...). I just do not see any reason for ANOTHER line on the page. If we had filters in the message box (that was requested ages ago) then we could decide ourselves what messages go where. i.e. divert messages about a game finished to the Trash

After a while you would have a message box where you only got to see what you wanted

Thom27: saying that, am i the only person who has yet to see the reason for this Events box. Now we just have another place to look at to make sure we have not missed anything.

I think a filter in the main message box would have been better and given us the options of what messages and alerts we want to see, and even keep (as in filter to certain folders).

Thom27: Simply yes he has lots of times.......but as i stated below he did let us have it on Gammon games.

In my opinion (and many others) it makes sense as long as both players agree to it

The point you make about messages being sent with a move is true (and one of Fencers arguements) but that can easily be written into a script.

note: I wish hexkid would come back and repair his greasemonkey script, that was amazing.

vrsTankist: Nice to meet you, and hope you are enjoying yourself here

This arguement has been going on since the early days of BrainKing (back in 2002), and in short the simple answer is that there is very little chance of it happening.

Fencer (the owner of BrainKing) is totally against having Auto-Pass (or Auto-Move, when only one move available) here.

Saying that, we do have it now in Backgammon so who knows, maybe it will happen, just don't hold your breath

To myself and many others, it is needed (in games like Ludo, Reversi etc....) so all we can do is wait

Enjoy your games

I create many Tournaments that i have created in the past (and i am sure many of us do).

I know we can create Templates, and then edit information that needs changing each time, but i had a GREAT (well i think so) thought

e.g. My Random 'Lines' Games Elimination Tournament finishes ( here Random 'LINES' Elimination )

On that page how about a button that just says RE-CREATE !!

Just click that, and it would open up a set up image of that Tournament.

The only thing that would have to change would be the date (but the option to edit, add or remove would be there), then it is done

I know it would certainly save a few of us time

As the new BrainKing is being re-designed, as in similar to Facebook sign up for pages etc..... would it be possible to include RSS Feeds somehow.

At present i get various computer & web Feeds going to Thunderbird, then once every week or so i go through them cutting & pasting links into notepad, and then pasting them in to Cyber Cafe Fellowship so people can keep up with whats going on in the Cyber world.

I was thinking, something like being able to set 'X' ammount of feeds, that would automatically post once a day on a board or Blog as it would become. Still allowing people to comment on what has arrived

Would save so much time for me personally, and be alot better for every one who reads the blog as i never know really what to include

Well, seems a great idea and very useful idea for all sorts of boards...Sports, world news, jokes, recipes etc..etc.. could all use it

Why we need next rounds of Tournaments to start once the winners (Qualifiers) have been decided and not when all games have finished

Jan 2008 Clone Wars started 2 years ago in January. Section 1 is finished & decided, Section 2 is decided, BUT we still wait for one game, that will not effect anything .......... WHY ???

That is similar to how Tournaments first were on brainking. Each round had to be started manually, but that was with all results in.

I think maybe once or twice a day an automatic check to see if anyone (or a Team) has already qualified for the next round of a Tournament could run.........that should be sufficient.
