General talk about movies, TV, radio, and other entertainment discussion.
Discussing favorite movies is a great topic but keep in mind some folks haven't seen the movie yet we may be discussing so don't give the endings away!

Jim Dandy: I like Richter, but don't think it was really a mistake to leave Conan - I mean look at Ed McMahon - he is always going to be a "B class" star - never the top dog, but always remembered by being the assistant to Carson & his infomercials.
Even though TV and movies did not turn out for Richter, I think it would have been a bigger mistake for him not to at least try.
Dark Vamp: I watched lost for awhile, but they started to have a very strange TV schedule where they were skipping weeks - I ended up missing a couple of episodes so after that, I just stopped watching.
Now Dexter - that is an interesting show. I did not start watching until about 1/2 way through the 2nd season, but was able to watch every episode before that to "catch up", and haven't missed one yet.
Season 3 of Meerkat Manor is getting ready to start here in the US.
On Animal Planet - starts tomorrow night, Aug 10th. There is a 1/2 hour re-cap show of the first 2 seasons - with the 1/2 hour season 3 premier right after that.
Now I'm not the type of person to watch shows like this, but this one has me hooked. It's like a reality show - with commentary to always keep you aware of what is going on - but since it is animals, they don't "preform" for the camera or anything like that.
"Though the original title referred only to the mythological faun, the English title refers to the faun-like Greek god Pan. Del Toro has stated that the faun featured in the film is not actually Pan."
WOW - I just watched the preview to this movie - which I always loved transformers so I was probable going to watch the movie no matter what..... but figured it would be some cheezy type of thing - but WOW
It kind of reminds me of Independence Day with Will Smith - just a "BIG" summer movie
Summertop: I seen Rocky Balboa also - my thoughts are it is worth a movie rental if you seen the other Rocky movies - otherwise, you won't miss anything if you skip it.
One movie I watched recently and really liked was Children of Men
Tuesday: Plus I checked, Hardees put their commercials on their website, they have 12 up right now - but they do not have this new one yet (in case others wanted to watch it and comment on it.)
Tuesday: I did not care for the commercial - but I think that is mostly due to the fact I do not like their chili cheese burger that they are trying to promote.
*** This message is mostly directed towards US DVD Buyers
On recent Disney DVD Movies, you can get "Movie Reward Points" inside the movies. This includes many of the Disney/Pixar cartoons, along with the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Anyway, if you are buying these movies and don't plan on collecting the points - feel free to send me a private message with the point code.
When I last looked, the system they had to collect points was not very good. Even if you purchased every single DVD they release, you still would not have enough points for any of the "good" things. So I figured I would start to ask others who may not collect them and see if they wanted to share them.
So keep me in mind if you are not going to use & collect them. Thanks!
OK, there is a new episode tonight (Episode #9) - it's the last one on the list, so either this is the last one of the season, or they don't have the newer ones listed yet.
Oh, I forgot that they have webasodes on the website - will have to watch those later tonight.
Skyking: I watch it - I kind of like it. Kind of "cheesy" at times - would have been a great TV show in the 90's - But I've seen all the episodes and I like it! (Do they still have new shows? I was thinking last week was the last new show - maybe it was this week, or maybe I'm confusing it with another show I'm watching)
Chaosu: Well general discussion can be pretty wide.
But speaking of TV shows, does anyone watch Meerkat Manor on Animal Planet? I started to watch the reruns, and even though it is something that I would not think I would be interested in at all - it is very good. It's a reality show that follows the lives of a Meerkat family - but unlike "people" reality shows, they don't play to the cameras - the cameras have been studing the meerkats for over 10 years, so they just ignore the cameras and do their normal stuff.
Anyway, season 2 starts Sept 29th. (repeats of season 1 still playing)
Chaosu: The board is English, but I don't think it is just for "Americans"
What do you have questions about?
The 100 film titles hidden in picture - that is a desktop picture that a site made which hidden 100 film titles in it, which was talked about on this board a couple of months ago - and just released the answers.
The UPCOMING PREMIERES topic is for us TV views in America (and Canada) - not sure if some of the same shows air anywhere else or not.
The answers are there - very interesting since some items I just figured were there are actuall clues also - then some film titles I never heard of before.
I won't post the answers here in case someone wants to go look first.
Remember when we were talking about this subject! Well they said they would release the answers a couple of weeks after they released the picture, and now after a couple of months - they are going to release the answers on Monday, Sept 11th.
There are 100 film titles hidden in there. I think I was up to 80 something (i'm too lazy to search back). But for those wanting to see what they can find in the next few days - now is your chance. Answers will be out Monday!
CinnamonAndrea: Think I found most of those - I went through all the new (and current) shows to get my weekly schedule. Here are a few not on your list:
Mondays: Vanished (FOX) - started aug 21
Tuesdays: Friday Night Lights (NBC) - oct 3 It Takes a Theif (Discovery) - starts either Sept 12th or Oct 9th
Wednesdays: Twenty Good Years (NBC) Oct 4th 30 Rock (NBC) Oct 4th Ghost Hunters (Sci-Fi) - Oct 4 The Nine (ABC) Oct 4 South park (Comedy Central) - Oct 4 I Pity the Fool (TVLand) - Oct 11
Fridays: Crossing Jordan (NBC) - Oct 20th
---- Plus Medium & Scrubs will be back on NBC as mid-season replacements for shows which don't make it.
King Reza: Actually on the website where that came from, the saw & saw II answers were given as a sample of what to look for, so those are the only 2 that I know for sure.... since the people who made it gave it to us.
They should be releasing the answers soon - I just checked a couple of days ago and they have not released the answers yet, but I will post here when they do release the answers.
OK, so I have about 86 now - and here are a few things which I think is something, but I don't know what yet:
the domino green playing card Gun & bullet on street (*** might have something, but not sure ***) Elephant & man on roof (*** possible elephant man, but I'm not sure about that ***) Castle in the sky (*** have something, but stiff iffy about it) The red balloon Black star next to moon Guy in background, left of red phone booth with a bucket(?) on head and holding a flyswater(?) (*** have earaserman, but what is he holding? - still iffy) The human figure behind this guy Tiger Sattilight Dish (if anything) Something on top of the light poll on the left side of the street. Something just to the right of the green "USA" Plus next to that is the cocktail, but wondering if the picture is something also
Ok, had my wife take a quick look at it, and she came up with a few more:
birds - The flying birds time cop - (police on the clock) black dog - The dog in the street? big foot - The big foot! (duh!) Bullet - movies by this name, but I don't think it was popular enough revolver - movies by this name, but I don't think it was popular enough castle in the Air - Movie by this name, but I don't think it was popular enough
Plus my wife corrected me - it is not puff the magic dragon, but a movie called "Pete's Dragon"
Ok, and to add to my 66 with some of yours, I get these additional ones:
hook - Peter Pan movie Crash - That was a popular movie, so that is the car's crashing! Red Eye - Sounds possible Golden Eye - Bond movie Easy Rider - Sounds possible Eraserhead - That could be it. One Hour Photo - I was wondering if the "darkroom" sign was for something - sounds good Precinct 13 - Sounds good The Eagle has Landed - Never heard of this, but best I have so far Raging Bull - I actually had Matador for the choice, but I bet both of these answers are correct (like the 2 saws which are for both Saw & Saw II) Zula - OK Blade - Sounds good
Black Hole - Hum - not sure if a movie by this name is popular enough. I'll keep a question mark by this one.
Boa (I like mine choice beter - Anaconda)
OK, now I'm up to 78 (maybe 79 depending on black hole for the pothole in the road)
Not looking at your last 3 posts yet, here are the 66 that I have. (again, not adding anything that you have below yet - will look at that in a minute):
Bend it like beckham The Scorpion King The Money Pit Toy Soldiers Dances with Wolves The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Twister Toy Story Snake Eyes Saw Saw II A Clockwork Orange Broken Arrow The Hand That Rocks the Cradle 21 Grams Napoleon Dynamite Big Fish American Graffiti Stealth Bad Santa Taxi The Rock Triple X se7en 4 weddings & a funeral mona lisa smile casino pink panter Green eggs n ham sneaker lock, stock and two smoking barrels airplane Beetle Juice Bethoven Bird on a wire swordfish flipper titanic hills have eyes boomarang jackass ghost / or possible casper since the ghost has a smilet/friendly 12 monkeys The Matador Chicken Little ? Chicken Run ? Layer Cake Red Dragon Dragonfly The Ring Chocolate Blazing Saddles Cocktail Tears of the Sun Man on the Moon / Man in the moon Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundry The Thin Red Line Shark Tailes Mannequin Phone Booth The Pacifier The Tuxedo The Fly Anaconda The Elephant Man (????) Puff the Magic Dragon The Crow
I have not figures out the foot. I'm still baffled by:
the domino green playing card Gun on street Elephant & man on roof The 2 eye balls on the street (Snake Eyes is the double 1's on the dice) The Dog The indian on the right roof Castle in the sky Flock of birds hawk/eagle on the ship 2 cars crashing in background The red balloon Black star next to moon Motercycle knife in tree Guy in background, left of red phone booth with a bucket(?) on head and holding a flyswater(?) The human figure behind this guy Tiger Sattilight Dish (if anything)
All I know is this whole thing is like "Finding Nemo!" :-)
Well I took about 20 minutes or so, and actually took the time to list everything I could find, and I came up with about 66. (I say about because a couple are a little iffy.)
stealth, bad santa (maybe?), taxi, broken arrow, The Rock, Triple X, se7en, 4 weddings & a funeral, mona lisa smile(?), casino, pink panther (at least I think it might be a panther - not sure what else pink it could be),
... plus on that scale, it has a 21 - so I did a quick search, and of course - the movie "21 grams" would be that one.
Rose: Yea, that's kind of like me - bend it like beckem(sp), titanic, 12 monkeys, 2 to tango, toy story, snake eyes, these hills have eyes, boomarang, jack*ss, scorpian king, ghost, money pit, .... I can just keep going.
This place has made a desktop image with 100 film refrences - for example, 2 saws are on the street which represents Saw & Saw II.
I went ahead and made the image my desktop so later when I'm board, I can stare at it to see what else I can find. There are 3 different sizes to choose from - or for those webTV people who can't set a desktop, you should still be able to pick one and view it like any other picture.
The last comic standing will be back on NBC soon. Looks like they are going back to the original way, when the show was good.... luckly NBC did not drive it into the ground completly when they kept trying to get everything they could out of it with all their specials and such.
Also back on USA soon is the 3rd season of The 4400 - I love this SciFi show. A long clip (40+ minutes?) that will catch you up on the first 2 seasons if you did not watch. http://tv.yahoo.com/feature/the4400.html (starts early June on USA)
I posted this on computers, but after thinking about it - it might do well here also:
AOL has a new "TV Station" which you can watch on-line for free (High speed internet connection needed) - Looks like they have 14 "channels" which different shows on. Only quickly glanced at it, but felt I would share it with others.
The In2TV channel on AOL.com was announced in November and began yesterday with 30 series, including "Growing Pains" and "Eight is Enough." The network will also offer games, polls and other interactive features.
The shows are free to anyone with high-speed Internet access. The network is supported through advertising.
Eventually the company plans to offer more than 100 series and at least 300 episodes per month to lure broadband users to the AOL Web site.
The company says the shows will be available exclusively online and not in reruns on TV.
For those of you who liked this "reality" show (like I did), they are starting auditions for this show, so expect it to be on the NBC schedule this summer.
Season #3, NBC "rushed" it and did no auditions and took the comics from season 1 vs. season 2 and it bombed, leading to NBC not even showing the final show (which also upset many), and finaly comedy central aired the last show so people could at least see who won. Hopefully NBC learned their leason and now going back to how the first 2 shows were.
Tuesday: Actually it is being canceled because of lack of ratings. NBC was willing to deal with the controversy, but was unwilling to do with the lack of ratings.
I thought it was a pretty good show - I hope they air the remaining episodes somewhere (like on one of NBC's cable stations)
episode 44: Paper Crossbow
Adam and Jamie unleash a deadly myth from a supermax prison, attempting to make a deadly weapon out of nothing more dangerous than newspaper and underwear. While they are being tested to their wits' end, Grant, Kari and Tory unscrew the cap on some more vodka myths, the latest in an occasional series of tall tales about the popular Russian tipple.
premiere: Jan. 11, 2006
NEXT WEEK:
Episode 45: Shredded Plane
Adam and Jamie have been emailed a photo of a light plane, with precise, clean tears on the side. Is the photo genuine and what caused the carnage? Was it the jilted lover, who took to her ex's plane with a chainsaw and a taste for vengeance? Or did the propeller of another aircraft somehow do all that damage?
premiere: Jan. 18, 2006
IN 2 WEEKS (Should be good - Fans of the show were challenged to try to bust this myth, and they look at the death ray again.)
Episode 46: Archimedes Death Ray
Adam and Jamie accepted the challenge from fans mailbags to retest the "Archimedes death ray." In turn, fans and MIT team were invited to perform this challlenge.
premiere: Jan. 25, 2006
If you get the SciFi channel, I recommend The Triangle - it is a 3 part mini-series with the first of 3 shows tonight. (repeat again tonigh, and repeat again before 2nd show starts tomorrow).
I'm watching the first repeat right now since I did not pay attention very much at first, but the show really caught my attention as it went through.
