TomsWife4Life: I know it's not the best suggestion, but I've seen a few of your games (4 or 5). It appears that you are in the last game in some (probably many) of them. You can always wait the 2 or 3 weeks for each game and then they would end, and you would win some, instead of losing the 104
What happened with this tournament Dice Poker Tournament # 4 It appears that some of the qualified players were not considered when creating "next rounds" and the tournament is now blocked...
No, what I mean is that if a user doesn't login for a month, then their autovacation would be set to off. That is, they would keep all of their remaining vacation days, but the autovacation feature (that automatically reduces the vacation time you still have left, when you timeout in a game) would be suspended. Therefore, instead of delaying a game for two months (until the 30 vacation days are used), the game would end when it times out and if the user logs in again in July, he(she) would have all of the vacation days left.
I'll give an example Gamão (Royal__Flush vs. ennukene00) Under my suggestion, ennukene00 would still use the autovacation days for january 1st, but after that the game would timeout (when the time limit was reached) and he would keep the 29 remaining days for when he logs in again. As it is now, the game will probably only end in late february, the site will be considering a time-out for every hour during two months and an hour of vacation days left will be reduced.
coan.net: Given the "kick off" ... how about the feature I ask every year, at this time, that people that do not login for a month have their autovacation suspended? The checking is already being made (they appear with a grey background in some pages) and it would reduce the two month delay that happens with the vacation days renewal...

coan.net: My idea was more like "check if there are winners in this tournament" (instead of calculating for all tournaments), rather than "I think the winners are A, B and C" But a calculation attached to a finished game would solve the peak in the resources used
happyjuggler0: I believe the reason Fencer pointed out most of the times was that it would be a burden to the site to be calculating every tournament possibilities every... hour. If that is the case, an alternative would be to calculate everytime a game is finished (and only then), or another possibility that the "early calculation" would be "user requested", for instance there would be a button in every tournament where I could go and click "calculate winners" and that I could only use once in a day or a week for each tournament (my idea was that only the user who clicked it would be blocked for a day). I don't understand much (almost nothing) of programming so I don't know if any of them is easy to implement

Dice Cheater: So, you can't stand that the other players impose their playing velocity to you, but you want to impose yours to them... Like it has been said, no one here is forcing you to choose 7 day normal vacation games (in fact you have some games that have smaller time controls). If a player has a time gap to play, (s)he can use it. If it uses more time, it starts losing vacation hours, if even then he uses more time the game will eventually timeout. Yeah, it's kind of frustrating when you see a player with 50 games that connects everyday and it usually has +40 in his turn, but he plays within the time gap he is allowed to, so I can't blame. Moreover, if you have only 7/20 possible games you can have, it is less likely to have a game in your turn. Like it has been said every time this matter comes up, this is not a realtime game site, so it is expected that the games last. Even so, there are countless time gap controls so that each player can use the ones that best fit his play style. And this is not defending slow play... it is just remembering that each of us has the possibility to choose which games we want to play, so we got to face the consequences of the opponents we choose (especially if you are not playing tournaments)
winterangels: you can only have two games in a stair at the same time, and only if you were invited for one and made the invitation for the other. If you started the game you're in, you can't start another until you finish that one.
Like Justaminute, Resher and Aganju, I too am not having any kind of problems when accessing the site in the past few... weeks. Sometime ago, someone suggested it had to do with the URL it is used to enter the site, i'm using brainking.com/pt (no "www"), maybe it could help.

pedestrian: Wouldn't it be better to change the BKR formula, so that it would only change at the end of an hour (or something like that). With this change, it would calculate for all of those games at the same time and no one would be punished (I know it still isn't perfect...)
I just received (at 9AM) a message saying I'm the winner of a tournament, with the text "you are the winner of this tournament". However it does not say which tournament. Moreover, yesterday I had 31 running tournaments and today I have... 31 running tournaments (I don't remember starting any new one). Is this a "spam" message, a bug, etc.?

happyjuggler0: Actually, in 1990s there was a year in Portugal when we didn't change the hour in one of the clock changes, to have the same hour as the rest of the Europe if I0m not mistaken (maybe Roberto remembers it better than me), I think it caused several problems like everyone going to work still with dark night.and in the Summer we had daylight until almost 10pm (when the "normal" is a sunset at 9pm or 9.15pm. Whatever was the case, it was a single year, so... we had that "study" and it didn't work...
MadMonkey: Yes, they are most likely connected. I just noticed that one of my friends had no red number on the main page, but a 9 appeared when I was on the events page and also here.
Přetvořeny oževatelem El Cid (15. řína 2011, 11:45:58)
MadMonkey: That was not what I was talking about. I was talking about the red number right below the "main page" words (separated of the ponds and game invitation red numbers by slashes). In the main page, if I have 15 games in my turn, but only have 5 games displaying when I hoover the mouse on this number (top left, at least on the castle layout) I can only choose bewteen the first five. However, if I go to the second sub-page of my games, or messages, or online opponents, or any game page, or whatever, I can choose between the 15.
However, now that Ithink of it, the bug you said could be caused by the same problem. If you only have 5 games showing in the main page, the red number next to friends on the right only accounts for those 5 games. However, if you go to the friends page ot accounts for the first 30 (or even all) of the games in your turn.
Edit: I think it's just a strange filter on how the site collects information about games in our turn depending on the page we are
Přetvořeny oževatelem El Cid (15. řína 2011, 00:45:43)
MadMonkey: For some reason, that filter only works for the first 30 games with the least amount of time. The drop down box only shows those 30 games too, and on the main page the red number with "games on my turn" only shows the same number of games that I have per default (i.e. if I only have 5 games showing in the main page, the red number also shows only the first 5 games). However, if I move to the second page on my turn (or any other page in the site, other than the first page of my turn) then it shows the 30 games on the javascript menu
Marshmud: How about the option "go to the next game of this type" (or something like that) that appears on top of the board (with a direct link to the next game)
Přetvořeny oževatelem El Cid (18. dobna 2011, 21:09:17)
Although the play later and the select game features now work correctly, I still can't "play and move to the next game" to the next game that has been played more recently. Moreover, the javascript list of games (from the red number next to the main page) still shows the first 30 games within a game page, but only shows the first 5 and then "..." in the main page. I know it maybe asking a lot, since some bugs had to be solved on the last days, but could this options be independently controled (before the update, I had my main page showing 5 games, but had 30 in the javascript menu)
Edit: It seems in the fora page, it also shows more than 5, so it may be a "main page" bug
rod03801: I hope so, it's just that on the last line of the blog it says "I hope I listed all important things here. If not, please leave a comment.", so that's what I'm doing
I tried to leave a comment in the blog, but maybe I'm doing something wrong, so here it is "I don't know if it's me, but I have the "show games on main page" set to 5, however, it shows all of my games. This, however, does not happen with the ponds"

Fencer: By the way, is it possible to "auto-remove" the auto-vacation feature if a user does not login for more than 30 days (I ask this because they are already marked in fellowships, so it is definitely possible to filter by last login date). It is kind of annoying to have to wait 2 months for someone to timeout, just because the game timed out in january 1st or 2nd, and the user gained auto-vacation (wheter (s)he already had them or not). Besides if someone does not login because, for example, he had a surgery, or something like that, when (s)he returns to the site there are no more vacation left for the rest of the year...
Fencer: I also received the 100 tournaments achievement, but in the message it appeared 0/100 (althoughin the achievements page it shows 100/500, for the 500 achievement, and I actually got the 100 as I should)
O čem je toďten plk: Re: seems a bit "one sided" at the moment....
Bernice: Just curious, if someone is banned from a fellowship during a tournament, does (s)he stop being able to play in those games (almost like if a player returns to pawn, when playing on a pond)? I'm asking this, because if a player returns to pawn, although he cannot play in ponds anymore, he still can play in fellowship games and tournaments that have already started..., so the suggestion of not being able to sign in any new tournament, and when the running ones end to be kicked off the fellowship, doesn't seem to logical to me, because you can still play in them so it's not a certain defeat (ok, you are still playing for the good of a fellowship that has kicked you off, but you can just see the game as if it was a personal, and not a fellowship, one)
Bernice: You're looking at the "brain entry" tournaments. If you go to the end of the page, it will show the 9 tournaments you've created (since you've joined the site)
AbigailII: I think 12 to 15 hours would be a more reasonable time period, since if you happen to live on a time zone, where those 12/15 hours would be all of the time that you were awaken, that would be a complete un-playable day (plus 6 to 8 hours of sleep, before and after that 15 hour period)
AbigailII: Sometime ago, I've asked on feature requests forum, that the chosen vacation days only disapear from our profile at the end of the day, and not at the begining, just to avoid this kind of problems. Seems Fencer didn't see it, or didn't care, for the request
Hexis: My point is exactly that, there is no such rule, and I understand that one should be able to remove vacation days, if you happen to regain access to the internet earlier than you expected.
What I'm trying to say is that there should be a way to prevent such an "abuse" with the vacation days (which I admit is a little better since the new "only buy 10 or 5 days of vacation"). However since there is no rule, and it's kind of an original way to protest, the only thing I can say is, at least increase the number of your games, since you don't have many problems with the "low" time controls
Přetvořeny oževatelem El Cid (12. červenca 2009, 12:19:36)
Czuch: I've noticed at least a player (that has two games of a team tournament against me), that has about 15 vacation days set up, and everyday he removes the nearest one, and adds another about three weeks ahead. This way, when he moves, instead of having 5 days per move, he has 25 days per move (and he has less than 50 games...). I already sent Fencer a message telling him who the player is, but since there has been some problems with naming, players, here in the forum, I won't do it. That message was sent yesterday when he had the days between 13th july and 31st july has vacation (and 17 vacation days left). He now has the days between 17th july and 4th august (and the same 17 vacation days left)
Unfortunately it is still possible to take advantage of the vacation system...

jessica: I missed that, because it didn't show on my recent achievements, and I'm allmost sure I have at least one of them I need to check them Edit: They were even on the same game Póker de Dados Triplo (El Cid vs. Vasr)
coan.net: On max score for triple dice poker, or triple 6d, I would suggest win the game with the three bonus scored, or win the game with points in all the squares (including the bonus ones)
