Bernice: Same here. I click on "Yes" to stop running script... hopefully that's the right choice.
I get a different message at another site that tells me a cross script is running. I have no idea what these runny scripts or cross scripts are all about, but so far it hasn't prevented me from doing anything.
Vikings: I sent his user name to you in a pm. Thanks for looking into this. He probably was in a different time zone, I didn't think about that. And it might not have been the same day he sent the email telling me about it. I'll ask him what date he registered. Thanks again for looking into this... I'm looking forward to him finally beating me at chess. ha ha ha ha.. well, not really. :o)
By the way, my son's email is a .navy.mil and not a .com address, so I was wondering if the problem had anything to do with acknowledging his email account. If not, then is there something he can do from his end to speed up the approval process? He said everything went fine with the sign up, and has been waiting to get approved.
My son started an account here on May 25th, but is still not a registered player and can't get on to play games. He is in the Navy and presently overseas, so his email is piped in and out from the ship he is on. He has no problem communicating with me or other relatives, so I'm wondering if the problem getting on here has anything to do with his email account?
crosseyed: Hey, I had a whole three games going a few days ago! But you're right, it really isn't an issue for me. Free is a good price so I have no reason to complain. And it's not a serious enough problem for me to switch over to Chrome. I'm trying to break the 2100 BKR barrier in chess, but haven't been able to do it so I'm limiting my number of games to 5 or less.
I enter with just brainking.com too, so I think the problem must have something to do with locality. That seems to be the common denominator. I tried brainking.com/pt to see what the "pt" does... the language on the login page is in portuguese. Oh well, it never hurts to experiment.
Two points I want to make. One, the problem doesn't originate in Fencers backyard even though it affects the people playing there. And two, the "customer is always right" began years ago at a large department store as a promotional gimmick. It caught on with customers everywhere (no surprise) and quickly became a sort of proverb, often quoted by (again, no surprise) unhappy customers. It's not a rule of any sort, and originally it only meant to convey how eager that particular department store was to please their customers. In reality no one really believes the customer is always right, and Fencer can hardly be held responsible for servers not under his control. So let's all get real, okay? I don't like taking half a day to make two moves but hey, stuff happens.
Or, the gremlins are doing it... that seems to be the most reasonable explanation.
crosseyed: Yes, and especially today. I'm constantly trying to trick the gremlin who is tricking me. If reloading doesn't work I have a few bk pages on my favorites list, so I can leave and come back. This seems to work, but today I'm having to do it more than usual. Fencer said it has nothing to do with this site, but with the various server stations our signals travel through. I don't believe that, I say it's gremlins who are doing it.
rod03801: I'm wondering why all the games on a 3 day per move time limit all showed the exact same time... 5 days and 23 hours. beach said the same about hers, that it showed 5 days and 23 hours. What are the odds of ALL 3 day limit games showing the exact same time? I made moves in those games this morning, and now that my opponents have responded I'm seeing 5 days but different hours for those games... which makes sense, because no one expects everyone they are playing will move at the exact same time. So I'm wondering, if I could have seen the minutes as well as the hours this morning, would those numbers have been different or exactly the same?
You see where I'm going with this? I can't be sure, but from where I'm sitting there appears to have been a glitch of some sort.
beach: Most of my games are showing the same as yours, 5 days and 23 hours (for the 3 day per move games). I've been getting online less because of the holiday, so for whatever the reason the extra time works well for me.
Thanks for the draw info, I suspected it might be something like that.
I have another question. I'm playing someone who tells me one of her games has no time limit, and her opponent stopped making moves over a year ago. Can she get an administrator to step in to void the game? I would like to know too, if something like this ever happens to me in an obviously drawn game that never seems to end.
I sent a draw offer in one of my games, and then got a message that my opponent had sent me a draw offer... but when I looked at the game, there was no draw offer. Did my offer get sent to me instead of my opponent? The game is obviously a draw, but I'm not sure if my opponent got my message or not.
happyjuggler0: that occured to me too, but I don't think I did that. There are only three buttons to look at, send preview and search, and the send button is directly below the writing field. I make mistakes, but I doubt I made the same mistake repeatedly over the course of an entire week.
Vikings: Not so. I attempted to post messages over the course of at least one week. I couldn't have been on temporary standby all of that time, except by extraordinarily repeated coincidences. No matter when I tried to get a message on the board it wouldn't happen, at the same time other ppl were able to post. I don't mean to belabor the point, I'm ready to move on, but frankly I have a hard time believing any of this. For whatever reason it happened I will move on and let it go.
rod03801: Fair enough. I'll scroll back to see if my posts were approved or not, and will not complain about it one way or the other. I'm done with this.
Vikings: Does that mean everyone needs to perstonally ask to get back on? The same thing happened to me last week. I'm not really bothered by this except for the fact that I haven't done anything at that board since my last message posted on May the 24th, and didn't know I would be wasting precious time and thought put into writing just to see nothing happen. My window of opportunity for doing anything here is very small. Is there any way to inform someone before trying to do something they can't do? I'm not trying to flame you, I'm just trying to explain my frustration over this.
Thanks for the fast response, but I'm still puzzled as to why anyone would think my posts need to be monitored. If I've been off topic it's only because I've responded to someone elses post. If someone wants to take pot shots at my religion it only seems fair for me to be able to respond. Compared to what I've already seen there, my posts can hardly be called inflamitory. I was banned from a board at another site many years ago, for no other reason than my point of view disturbed too many people.. in other words, I didn't agree with the majority of people writing to that board. The only problem I've experienced here is someone writing lewd and insulting pms, so I blocked her from contacting me again.. No problem with that, I've learned that sort of thing goes with the territory. Still, I am curious to know what anyone has to worry about me writing to a politics boards.
I've tried to post messages at the politics board but nothing happens. The first time it happened I assumed it was a glitch, or maybe I clicked on the wrong button. If this message doesn't go through then I'll know something is definitely wrong. Can anyone explain why I can't write to a board I was able to write to before this happened?
