O čem je toďten plk: World Championships in Lines of Action, 2011
The Lines of Action World Championship will be played in London on August 22nd 2011 at the University of London Union. This is the standard 8x8 variant. It is my understanding that the event will be a 7-rd Swiss event with 25 or 30 minutes per player and controlled by an International Chess arbiter. Last years' World Championship was won by Andres Kuusk from Estonia. Results after the event will be posted here or can be found at the official website, www.boardability.com.
The event is being run as part of the annual Mind Sports Olympiad featuring Chess, Lines of Action, Poker, Backgammon and many other games. The MSO 2011 will run from Aug 20-28. Full details are available at www.boardability.com. Please see that website or send me a message for further details. It would be good if some enthusiasts who play here were able to make the trip.
Whoever is moderating this group, can you please do something about Gerry's multiple pointless postings. More serious material is just getting blown off the list by this waffle. It looks by its being generated by a scripted bot anyway.
O čem je toďten plk: Mind Sports Olympiad, London August 2009
The annual Mind Sports Olympiad is being hosted in London, United Kingdom from August 21-31, 2009. Many events that are played on brainking.com are being played there, including several World Championships. Some of the games played (which are also played here):
Lines of Action Chess Go Backgammon Poker Chinese Chess Draughts
Its a virtually unique tournament and a great experience. The standard of play and variety of games on offer are usually at very high standard. It would be great if at least some BK-ers could make it to London for this event.
