Jim Dandy: Lmbo! Yes it would be nice to win a painting or something. I am doing a Tshirt one as a prize at the moment and a painting is something that can be considerd in the future. Or how about a signed photo taken by the prize giver or maybe an autograph photo of someone the winner likes. There are alsorts of possibilities. Maybe I could offer one of my engravings as a prize
anastasia: No, I don't even have any games right now, but I'm still in the tournament. I assume I'll be officially eliminated when everyone else in my division finishes their games, but like I said, that could take another year.
Is it possible to drop out of a tournament after it's started?
I started a Nackgammon tournament almost two years ago, and we're not even done with round 1 yet. I finished my last game months ago, so I'm just waiting for everyone else to finish now (which at this rate could take another year). I'm pretty sure I won't make it to the next round anyway, so I'd really like to leave the tournament so I can join another.
I searched around, but I didn't find much about dropping out. Is it allowed?
coan.net: Thanks for your reply, and I will follow your directions. I enjoyed the "no days off" as I played in that tournament and was so surprised of the time spent on that tournament. Many players complain about the times, and some are playing games that started 2 years ago. I can't speak for others, but can suggest from players at the friendship club 2 that they don't like long limit games, and since I make them 3 days or less, many more are playing. I guess if we had "shorter" team tornaments, we could enjoy more team events, Nobody complained to me about the no days off backgammon tournament as well.
Marshmud: And like MadMonkey kind of said, here is how I pick what tournaments to run:
1. Requests - if people request things - then it "moves" up my list. (request in private message the best since I will move it to a "tournament" folder and when i get around to making them, I can easily look at the requests without having to remember which boards/games the requests were made on.
2. How long since last one started/ended. If a game hasn't had one for a long time - it is higher on my list. (with of course popular games also get moved up in the list since people like to play the game) - try to make it a good balance.
3. Balance of type of games. For example, Spider Line4 was a game I might had done with my last batch, but I wanted to get Connect6 in there since it was even longer since we had one of those then the Spider Line4. And when I say Balance, I try to get different types - a gammon, a line, a checkers, a chess, an odd-ball, etc... hopefully a good mix to give everyone something to play.
But again - suggestions are always welcomed. In addition to game type, feel free to suggestion (1) team size and (2) time per move.
I'm very impressed that the "NO DAYS OFF" tournaments started in July for Backgammon & Pente have already completed.... hopefully something that the "fast players" on this site also like.
Marshmud: Shhhh... don't tell anyone, but unless some really cool game comes out soon, Spider Line4 will most likely be the next site team tournament I make.
Is there any reason why we can't get some spider variants or other line game team tournaments? I know others have requested the same in the past, and many line players ask me as well. I don't understand why the same team tournament games are being played again so soon as well.
