Backgammon As You Might Not Know It This tournament is inspired by the bug reported in the BugTracker under number 1945. The essence of this bug is that by manual modification of the URL address bar, it is possible for a player to have up to two moves more than they are supposed to have according to the rules. What does this bug consist in? Let's think of the starting position in backgammon. The White rolls 5+6. Then clicks on Pip 12 and moves the man by five pips forward to Pip 17. Subsequently, the player clicks on Pip 12 again and moves the second man from Pip 12 to Pip 18. Now comes the use of the bug itself. The URL address bar now reads “http://brainking.com/en/ShowGame?g=XXXXXXX&m=1212”. By adding another “12” to the end of the URL bar and pressing Enter on the keyboard, another white man is taken from Pip 12 and moved to Pip 18, and this is possible to be done one more time (i.e. up to 4 men can be moved in one turn, regardless of whether the player rolls a double or not.
Since there are some people who use this bug from time to time and gain an unjustified advantage, alexlee, rabbitoid and I have decided to let the knowledge of this bug spread in order to ensure that it is no longer disregarded.
Of course, the use of the bug decribed above is allowed in this tournament. The winner will receive 50 Brains.
If anything is unclear to anyone, you can send me a PM and I will try to explain it in more detail, if necessary.
