ou need to be a paid member to be eligable to get brains. Once a member, you can earn brains by refering people to pay for membership. Those earned brains can then be used to upgrade your membership or get a new one when it runs out.

Derek....it is like anything else in this world...you must pay for it....MONEY..real money.
Then you get all your friends to sign up and pay for a membership and tell them to tell Fencer that you sent them and you get 25, 50 etc brains depending on their level of membership accredited to you.....then if you have enuff friends that sign up, you might get a free renewal depending on the number of brains you have.

hehehe now i have read that even im confused LOLOLOL

Onderwerp: A couple of questions about creating a tournament..
I want to make one for 20 players. But the minimum number of players is 16. Why is it so low? What I did was make 20 the maximum, will the tournament automatically start when that number is hit? or do I have to change the start time? Thanks :)

Derek.... GO READ THE BRAINS LINK , IT HAS ALL THE INFO THERE!

in a way yes.you pay for an upgraded membership, and certain levels recieve brains.I know this sounds silly,bt when I became a paid member...I gave my brains to the person who recommended the site to me.

18. juli 2004, 02:45:41

Apologies to those who signed for my anti-checkers tourney. I started it when 4 people had signed, as promised, but one person didn't have enough empty slots so it was deleted.

Go back to the tournament page where it lists the players. Just above the list click "remove me from this tournament".

Well once they see the other team's with pictures, I would bet most of them will try to add some pictures soon.

Unfortunatelly not all signed teams have pictures.

Errrm ... I will have to postpone it once more. I've been too busy in my work and couldn't implement last details.
It's a matter of day or two, nothing complicated :-)

Of course it's not the final solution but I had no time to improve it :-)

Right! Thanks :o)

For "1 game for 2 players", a player will ALWAYS need 5 game slots open (Even if they only start 4 games, or even if they start 7 games) - the computer just checks for 5 free slots.

For the 2 games per 2 players, players will need 10 slots open. Even if a player starts 6 or 8 games, they will still need 10 games slots open.

15. juli 2004, 12:53:40
Fencer
No, they still need 10 slots.

15. juli 2004, 12:15:16
harley
Eek, it shouldn't say 4 players! It hasn't been THAT long since I ran a tourney, I'm sure!

How about if I make it 4 players per section? Would they only need 6 slots then? Now MM has joined I can do that. (Thanks MM)

harley: I have entered your Maharajah Chess tourny, but it says only 4 players and you have 7 (well 8 now lol).
If there are too many just remove me :o)

Yes. One or two slots over limit don't matter in this case.

Onderwerp: Re:
OK. So you allow them to go over their limit?

15. juli 2004, 11:53:27

No, it's always 10 required empty slots.

Correct - 12 slots for 7 players - 14 slots for 8 players

Oh, but how can it be 10 slots in all cases? I have 7 people signed - maximum section number is 8, so it would only create one section with all 7 players.

Each player would play 2 games with each other person, making 12 slots needed?

15. juli 2004, 11:48:48
harley
Thanks :o)

15. juli 2004, 11:45:23

And you need at least the number of player which is defined as "minimum players" for the tournament.

15. juli 2004, 11:44:34
Fencer
10 is all cases.

Onderwerp: Quick question....
In a tourney of switched colours, 8 players per section, how many slots would a person need to participate?

And what if I changed it to a maximum of 4 players per section?

And last one - if I change it to 4 players per section, does that mean I need at least 8 players?

How many games per player?

ow about 6 sections with 3 teams each.... make for a lot more in the final round, and more fun and games for most?

Wow - 18 teams are now set up - so 3 sections with 6 teams each!

Then the top team from each section will go and face each other. This is going to be cool - even if say I do really bad and lose all my games, if my teammates do really good, we can still go and win a section!

I have postponed the tournament deadline to Friday, 16th July 2004. The reason is that I had no time to perform all required tests and without tests it would be too risky to start it.

Heh, I've just signed up as well :-) So if I am the winner [which is VERY unlikely], the second one can get the prize.

Llawer o Baben! T-SHIRT Tournament

The prize is a brainking.com T-shirt to the winner of the size and colour of his/her choice (as available).
I've fluttered my eyelashes at Fencer and he's going to flutter his eyelashes at Mrs Fencer to handpaint the words 'Tournament Winner' or 'Tourney Winner' as an addition to the current wording.

If the tourney is won by a pawn then a prize of a 6 month brain rook membership will be offered as an alternative.
