Please stop this argument. The request was placed and acknowledged, no further discussion can make the process faster.

Jason: No offense, but you are a member of 34 fellowships, including having your own, so surely there must be plenty of reading for you here on BK?
Besides with General Chat being a General Chat board I doubt that political converstion will carry on there indefinately, thats the great thing, its open to any & every topic :o)

ScarletRose: I totally disagree! Its working fine on the General Chat Board without Moderators having to do anything! The conversation about politics hasn't involved any swearing or inappropriate language, apart from yourself who got the closest to it by saying 'freaking this & freaking that'
General Chat, is GENERAL CHAT & we should be able to discuss anything of general interest! Besides the current politcs conversation on there is far better than the useless drivvle that is usually on there! Its refreshing to actually read a proper topic of conversation. For those who don't like it its simple....dont read it!
However, I would not be opposed to a General Polics Board aswell

Ah, but General Chat does NOT allow any and all discussions. I have seen many times where a moderator has asked for a topic to be discussed elsewhere. For example, I have seen where a topic has evolved to discussing a proposed feature when a mod came in and asked it to be continued on the feature board. So, the same would hold true for politics.

I just think that with how often (and how negative) political discussion come up, it would be nice to put it somewhere else. I also feel it should be a general board (not a fellowship).

I don't care if there's a public Politics board or not. General Chat is general chat and it should be open for any kind of discussion.

There are fellowships on this site where politics can be discussed without having them on General Chat. I, for one, would object to having a Politics on a public board.

and some debates.. well.. how would one determine if it were debate or flaming.. I think the reason they don't have that board.. is due to the constant stress it would create.. at least in a public board.. haha

Purple, no kidding. I think they would only have to make sure there is no foul language and the topics are political. Of course any blatant personal attacks would have to be deleted. But a certain amount of leeway would have to be given.

Pedro Martínez, well...Just like there are specialized boards for Feature Requests, Tounaments, Fellowships, Poetry, Music, Sories, Jokes, etc. Because Political Discussions are so common (and tend to get heated), I think they deserve their own board.

Too often the General Chat board is inundated with politics. Quite often political discussions turn into heated arguments. I know you (Fencer) are trying to limit the number of general message boards, but could we PLEASE have a "General Politics" board? I can't be the only one that is getting tired of people arguing politics (in the General Chat).

Onderwerp: Re: Ratings graph
i think playbunny means a graph of the distribution of bkrs over all players with a rating on a specific game type

like the backgammon rating in a graph

that way you can easily see how far ahead the top players are from the rest of the group (bkr-wise)

so it would just be a visualisation of the rating list of each game type

you can download a .pdf file of all your past games

It would be interesting to see a graph showing the distribution curve of all players' ratings for a given game. The player's own position could be shown. Perhaps, too, anyone in their Friends List.

there are many ways to work offline if you are creating a .txt OR .doc OR .html file.
then you can upload or cut/paste them when you are online.

I believe it is his own posted words - in a discussion in the Debate Club - Religion fellowship board. If I remember correctly, reza has to pay for each minute he is online so I would guess he types most of his post off-line, then pastes it when he is on-line.

My suggestion would be if you know your post is going to be large, just make 2-3 smaller post that way you will not run into that situation again.

I agree ScarletRose
if it is data froma webpage,a link is sufficient.that way it is optional for anyone to view it or not.
I would feel a little embarassed posted a huge message.

you all know that you can ever pinpoint a paragraph on a webpage-in a link, right?

23. juli 2005, 01:38:37
ScarletRose
If your posts are going to be that large.. wouldn't a link to a web site be more respectful.. and if they are from your written words.. then perhaps creating a website to link to would be fashionable..

Just finished a tournament...
Safe Havens backgammon tourney No. 2...
Round 2 had 3 players... 2 players tied with 3 points a piece...
I believe that the should go to round 3 and have the best of 3 games as the tourney shows... but it ends here...
I think tourneys should have just one winner...
than more than 2 in the case of a tourney in which a 4 way first place...

reza: Hell of a loss too :-( unless it was a cut and paste job from other sources.

Advice for after the horse has bolted:
I've got into a habit of composing long messages in Notepad or some other editor and only copying them to the BrainKing page when I'm done. This is mainly because the message box size is too small, sometimes it's because I might work on a message in two separate stages. But it also means that I tend not to lose any messages.

Since I have recently noticed that there's teh limit of 65535 charecters on sending messages, I suggest that a counter be added to the site so that when we type, or copy-paste from other places, we can understand how much space we have left. I just lost almost half of one of my messages because I wasn't aware of the limit.

Pedro Martínez: what would be the point of waiting for unesseccary messages to be answered.the player could answer it once in his profile.auto messages could cover the rest.
example:
I play scrabble elsewhere.were you specify what dictionary you prefer,in your profile.
if an invitation is sent,it will prompt you with"this player prefers the sowpods dictionary, would you like to sent you invite anyway or auto alter it?"

I dont beleive in being anxious about playing fast.

Onderwerp: re game times
maybe this could help
you could specify in your preferences a range re how fast you like to play.
if some one invites you,the could get an automatic message saying "whatsisname likes to play with a gamretime of from X to Y.would you like to alter your invite?"
