Groucho: I think that if someone starts a story and others can add to it, then, whoever adds to the story makes the twist or the turn. I don't think it is fair to say "This has to be serious" or "This can be silly." The thoughts and ideas of those who participate are what counts and what makes the story original. I would not like to be in your shoes and have to decide "Which way do I want the story to go." This is getting wayyyyyyy complicated. :)
Rose: Thank you for responding. :) I am sorry that his story was ignored. I understand his feelings now. As far as my own stories...I thought that it might be more intriguing for the readers to tell bits and pieces...keep everyone wanting to come back - you know. Also, if I told the whole story at once, I would be typing forever and you ALL would be reading forever. :)
The Whisper: Geez, I made a HUGE mistake in my last post. Congress DID VOTE to raise their wages. They refused a raise to the working class. My apoligies.
The Whisper: Our government just recently decided to NOT raise the minimum wage. Well...the price of everything keeps going up, up,up,up,up!!! How are our citizens supposed to make it on the meager wages we are paid? And our Congress votes to NOT raise their wages. Minimum wage has not been raised since the latter 90's. The powerful control everything. The poor are here for a reason. They do the jobs that others (the wealthy) don't want to do.
gogul: :) I am happy to hear that things are so much better in your country...and they should be better here! Everyone thinks that this is the land of opportunity...but more and more are finding themselves homeless for many different reasons. I would like to finish my story before I go on...and SkyKing...I thought you were going to add on here... not confuse me...LOL
gogul: Hi there. I am not joking about homeless either. As I posted before... one of our families was headed by a Grandmother who could spin a sad story to make it funny. I am only relating her ONE story here.
The children in tow were ages 1 & 3. I could only imagine...and in the rain. The family began asking directions of people on the street. No one had a clue where this family needed to be. The grandmother tried to flag down a police patrol car - waving her arms about. The "unit" drove on by. Along the long walk that they had, the young daughter saw a man on a bicycle and asked directions. The man was obviously drunk as he pointed to two places at 180 degrees apart. The Grandmother reported to me that she said to the daughter, " Of all the people you wanna ask, you gotta ask a wino!"
The grandmother and her troop began walking, and walking, and walking. Then came the rain, and I remember the day. It was a soaking rain. So we have the grandmother with gobs of gauze in the side of her mouth, a son with his children in tow, and a daughter who was wearing high heels (she liked to look cute).
The appointment was late in the evening. The bad tooth was extracted...but, by the time the procedure was finished, public transportation had ended. The family found themselves trying to find their way back to where they needed to be. The family had just recently relocated to our area in the search of services that were not available in the area that they had come from. Thus, they were lost.
Well, the grandmother had a bad tooth. Really bad. In this country (USA), if you dont' have insurance, you are scre... as far as dental care (health care also). I advocated with a free clinic to please help this woman. The free clinic services only those who are working but who have no insurance. I got an appointment for her FINALLY and she had to take the whole troop with her on the city bus. The story of this episode JUST begins.
I told the grandmother about our galaxy...about how there are many solar systems in our galaxy.. and that there are millions and millions of galaxies in the universe. Who knows how many... she was maybe stunned is the word, but was comfortable to be affirmed
Groucho: I almost WAS a zombie. I was very discombobulated...couldn't remember what day it was...it was weird...said things like, "last night" instead of "tonight"...I can't believe I made it through the day. BUT!!! You know what, women are strong!!!
Groucho: Well, she could not believe it when I affirmed that her learning and observations are truthful. What I have a problem with is knowing that people today, are so ignorant.
I have regrets my friends, that I am telling my stories...with much lack of sleep. I must get up each morning @ 5:30 A.M. and go into work to get the agency's van and pick up our families by 7 a.m. Last night, we had to terminate a male from our program and we had to ask for the assistance of the police. I've had about 3 1/2 hours of sleep...then put in a full day of work.
The grandmother...told me about a time in her life... when she was going to school and was learning things about life...and about science. She said that she began to learn about the planets, that these things existed. She went home and told her mother about these things in the sky and her mother slapped her face for talking about blashemy. (I don't think I spelled that right) Her family did not believe that there are other planets in our universe.
gogul: And to address your statement of lack of health care: You are so on target. Even in the United States (God Bless Us! :,) we have millions of people without access to affordable healthcare!
gogul: I have found gogul, that our families bond, some of them do, others attack each other and come whining to me about trivial things. I've seen substance abuse, child abuse, spousal/significant other abuse, tales that make me wonder, why do we have to suffer so? Yes, most of them suffer a malady, and you are correct, there is no reason for hunger on this earth.
gogul: Okay, and what year are we speaking of? So, you chose this lifestyle for some time. Very interesting. Pray tell something interesting that happened during that time.
My first story is about a family that came to our agency on a hot summer day. The family unit consisted of 3 generations, headed by the grandmother - who was only in her early 40's.
