alanback: Same here in little old Wales, all day.You can bet your last pound/dollar/rand/shekel/euro it has nothing what so ever to do with this sigh(pun intended)t.
Would someone be so kind as to send me the new id of this player.Because if your talking about who i think your talking about,i don't want to chance getting in another never ending backgammon race with him! Thanks in advance.
tfra11: "Here in the USA, if we quit, even if we're mathematically eliminated, we're called sore losers".What rubbish!Giving up graciously in a game you can not possibly win has nothing to do with being a sore loser.no matter what country you happen to be born in.One of the top backgammon players on this site (hello Alan) is an American citizen and he will always resign an obvious loss.
tfra11: I consider it very poor etiquette to continue in a game that has obviously been won by the other player.Besides,as a pawn with only 20 games to play at once wouldn't you be annoyed if a player waited until the last minute to play a pointless move in a game they could not win?
Undertaker.: You can make your plakoto rating more realistic by simply accepting one of the invitations i send you and actually playing the game! (Like in everything in life, to be in the top is need "fight").
alanback: Odd indeed. As well as not being a mathematician I'm also not a psychologist. But this has got me wondering. This stalling is obviously being done on purpose so I'm thinking that perhaps there's some minute sense of power being derived from these tactics? To most of us this is a place to play games, nothing more, nothing less. But to a lesser mind, it may be all they have in life that gives them any sense of self importance. As i said i'm, no psychologist so don't really know how a human mind works and thinks. But surely this behaviour is more to be pitied than scolded.
Pedro Martínez: I didn't think of that.Thanks. But I just checked his days and it is set for Wednesday and Thursday? But i supposed that could have been reset yesterday.I also checked when the game started,it was 11th August 08.It's a 7 point backgammon race game with a 2 day limit.16 moves made so far.I'm no mathematician but that seems like a lot of vacation days used!
I don't understand how these work.I'm playing a game against someone with 0 vacation days left, yet when they time out, another 24 hours is added to there time too move? Can anyone shed any light on this phenomenon?
Bernice: So are you saying this is'nt the behaviour of a small child? That it's the actions of a rational adult?I find this very hard to believe.Still,we live and learn.
rod03801: I think we all know who we are talking about here, and i think we should give him a break. It really is'nt any of our business what a young boy spends his pocket money on.If holding up an internet tournament makes him happy,so be it.He'll grow out of it one day i'm sure.
ghingher: Tip of the day #32.If you find yourself in need of refreshment whilst making your moves, you could try eating a McDonalds or maybe drinking some Pepsi.
