Do you miss something on BrainKing.com and would you like to see it here? Post your request into this board! If there is a more specific board for the request, (i.e. game rule changes etc) then it should be posted and discussed on that specific board.
I agree, Baddessi. I have had games where I found the first 4 ships early, then spent 15 or more moves, searching for the "2-holer"... I would like to be able to see where that bugger was, without having to ask.
I also wish I could see at a glance when my board comes back to my turn, the shots I took in the previous turn, highlighted on the board, before I start the turn.
I don't remember now what the people who said it couldn't be done, said. I was just guessing.
I'm a card playing addict. Believe me, I would LOVE to see card games here.

I would love to see card games on a turn based game site!! (As real time card sites are not compatible with WebTV) .. but I think it has been pointed out that most card games would not work well on a turn based site. I can't remember the reason. Too lengthy possibly?..
Though that doesn't seem to stop people from playing anti-backgammon! lol.
IMupChucKing, As far as Friends go, there is an option on your friends page to make a note about them. I use that to put a name in of a person who changes frequently. That only helps if you have that person on your friends list, of course.
.. as long as the captured piece list doesn't reveal the ranks of pieces you didn't already discover with the spy.. (or whatever that piece is here, lol I forget right now) .. that would take away a major part of what the game is about, in my opinion! but a list of pieces captured that you did reveal, would be good.. maybe just a question mark in the place of pieces whose ranks you didn't learn..
I run into that problem a lot too. Even with it set at 100 msgs per page. I too, have been wishing that there was some way for the unread messages on page 2 to still be listed as "New!"
actually, the one person on my enemies list is only there, because I discovered by mistake that I was on theirs. So, I put them on mine, so I could see what was up.. I CAN see what their "last action" was, on my Enemies page, as I assume they must be able to see MY last action also.. I did not even know this person, so was suprised to find myself on their enemy list.. I discovered later, this person is actually an alternate ID of someone else..
I was frankly surprised that we can see each other's actions in this way. I was under the impression that putting a person on your enemies list kept them from "seeing" what you are doing, etc...
So, Ugh if you do want to see this, you will have to put that person on your own enemies list yourself..
Ugh, I believe you can already tell if an enemy is online, by visiting your Enemies page. If they are not online, it shows what their last action was...
(At least it appears that way with the one person I have on my enemies list.)
It seems to me that if every holiday, of every possible culture were to be "days off", then there wouldn't be many days that AREN'T holidays.
I believe other sites have stopped doing holidays, for this reason.
I think the only holiday that really impacts most cultures, is Christmas.
Summertop, one way to make this happen is to put your news item directly on the discussion board page by using the "Edit" option, next to the name of the board.
I use that at Club WebTV. It also stays there until I remove it, instead of disappearing like the news items do, after a time.
I think it would be kind of fun, if each team tournament had a discussion board, only readable and writeable by the people in that tournament. It would be a good place to brag, trash talk (LOL) and report wins and stuff.. When the tournament is over, the discussion board would be gone.
I picture the link to the board being on the main tournament page of that particular one. (The page with all the teams listed and the scores) ... Maybe even a link to it in each game?
Obviously it would need a moderator.. Maybe the person who created the tournament? (That might not always be the best idea, though, lol)
I just thought I'd throw the idea out there. I'm sure others have ideas on how it could work..
The notification by a message was my other thought, Fencer. I was thinking a personal message here on the site, though, not necesarilly an email. (Or is that what you meant?)
The bug tracker is a great idea. Since, at times, there are messages back and forth about the bug there, it would be nice if there was a red number indicating new messages in the bug tracker in that specific "bug"(Like with discussion boards).
(For times when the person reporting the bug updates, or you respond about it, or someone else comments on the bug)
I notice that the message I get saying I won/loss a game in the team tournament doesn't have a link to the tournament. I thought I might be able to get there from clicking "Show Game", but the link to the team tournament is gone from there after the game is over..
Could we get a link in the message? (Like there is for regular tournaments)
I really don't have a preference... I would say their team logo by their name would be cool, but that might be a bit much, and some teams don't have one..
I would say, either by their name, or down in the game information section..
Fencer, I think it would be cool to see the team of the opponent in the game itself somewhere. (In the team tournament, of course)
Would this be possible?
Fencer, terriffic about the green dot! I don't know if this is asking too much, but could the dot also follow the opponent's name on the drop down box? (Move and go to) (Kind of like how the asterik is there for the games that are part of tournaments)
I like playing people who are currently online, and this would make life GREAT!!!
:-D
I really like those little black pawns indicating online status on the Ratings page..
Are there any plans to put them on any other pages? (Main page would be GREAT)
Would it be possible, that when you come back to a battleboats game (all versions) that your previous shots, and your opponent's last shots be still highlighted? (At least until you take your first shot of your new turn)... I know I can scroll down and look at the move list, but it would just be so much easier, if I could see at a glance what he/she did their last turn, and a reminder for me also.. It seems to me, other games show you right up front on the board what your opponent's last move was..
It would be helpful for lazy peoople like me..
:-)
I think it would be a good idea to have this type of tournament here.. I think it would also be pretty unique to Brainking wouldn't it?
I've been planning a prize tournament of this type in the WebTV fellowship.. planned on posting it later in July.. still working on ideas of how to work it.. I may be picking your brain, Stevie!
Fencer, I know I mentioned this over in the test version of 2.0, but would it be possible to have a bigger version of the pics in a person's profile?
As I mentioned, they are very difficult to see on the lower resolution of a TV set.. I know they can't be bigger everywhere, but I thought the profile would be the place that would make sense to put it.. Is that do-able??? (Or making the picture clickable, to just see a "blown up" version? .. that sounds like a lot of work, though.. lol)
I'm putting my face right up to the screen to try and see.. lol..
2 or 3 posters certainly doesn't indicate what a majority think...
Personally, I believe MOST aren't anywhere near as concerned about this as a few are..
(That isn't to say that this concern of those few, isn't important... it IS... ) .. but to assume that in a period of a few hours that 3 or 4 people having a conversation about this topic where 3 of the people appear to disagree with the 1 other, in NO way relflects the views of the whole site. It would be kind of silly to assume this..
I too would like to see ties broken in tournaments until there is a winner. Maybe put a limit to the amount of times the "tiebreaker" can be played. When it reaches that limit, then it is declared a tie at that point.
