Sam has closed his piano and gone to bed ... now we can talk about the real stuff of life ... love, liberty and games such as Janus, Capablanca Random, Embassy Chess & the odd mention of other 10x8 variants is welcome too
For posting: - invitations to games (you can also use the New Game menu or for particular games: Janus; Capablanca Random; or Embassy) - information about upcoming tournaments - disussion of games (please limit this to completed games or discussion on how a game has arrived at a certain position ... speculation on who has an advantage or the benefits of potential moves is not permitted while that particular game is in progress) - links to interesting related sites (non-promotional)

(like the fuegians say) for "looking at each other hoping that either will offer
to do something which both parties desire but are unwilling to do" - a bit short
and too merchandizing imho, but close to informative and, gothic chess after all. thx. ~*~
1. f4 e5?? is a loss for Black. 1. f4 e5?? 2. d4?! gives Black to move and draw. I researched one line about a year ago, another about 4 months ago. All of my analysis is in the opening book that will be distributed with Gothic Vortex 1.2, which will come out after the Computer World Championship tournament this November.
What's that other advert that ends "oh it's chips it's chips, we hope it'll be chips" or similar? "Will there be Gothic fried onion rings you'll have to wait and see".

and no - the f-pawn wasn't on my list yet ... played the trice-gambit
with c2-c4 a few times, but got no answers on similar questions neither
here nor in a perpetually hibernating fellowship of the gothic re-inventor ... ~*~

you feel the gothic alienation effect as I do, Cerebro - same happened to me here,
not only once - indeed you might have heard a faint *BOP* right after you posted
- I had to fall unconscious from happiness real quick, that's what made the sound ... ~*~
For those who don't know, I live in Hawaii. It is morning now here and I just awoke..to 40-some new messages. It appears that Bwildman & Walter have some issues. Were there some deleted posts? Anyway, I have been mulling over a couple of ideas. Mainly, it appears that having three mods isn't working. When one of us does something unfairly, it makes us all look bad. Although I like Walter's suggestion, from a practicality point of view, it's too difficult and takes too long for us to all PM each other and figure out what to do each time there is an objectional post. And most of the time, I don't think it's that big of a deal anyway. After all we're just mods of a board, not CEOs of a big coproration.
However, something needs to be done. Perhaps Fencer could remove one or two of the mods (just as long as he doesn't remove me, please!!). As an alternate suggestion, I propose that either, we each take turns moderating the board alone for one month (October, November, December), or we put it to a vote of the readers of this board to pick one of us. I would agree to either suggestion. For the month proposal, I would take either of the three months.
That's your opinion, i respect that but i completely disagree.
Actually i don't even think this is your opinion, you just say that, since it is obvious you have a problem with Ed.....
>second, nobody is jealous of Gothic,
I agree on that.......
>third, his patent fantasies belong in his own psychosis, they're not a legal issue, if he's broke unlucky.
Nonsense! If you believe that, then create a Gothic Chess board with pieces and make it commercial. Then we will see if it's a legal issue.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry! My question on gambits using the chancellor pawn went pretty much unheeded. Let's be honest. We enjoy the bickering, even more than talking about Gothic Chess.
Firstly, it isn't a very interesting game, second, nobody is jealous of Gothic, third, his patent fantasies belong in his own psychosis, they're not a legal issue, if he's broke unlucky.
What is wrong with people on this site;I thought it was for discussing how to play Gothic Chess, the worlds greatest invention in the chess world; not attacking Mr.Trice to satisfy some jealousy over his having invented so wonderful a game. He has every right to defend his patent in court when someone has the gall to try to use it without permission or paying his very reasonable liscensing fee to use it.
I take it I was the case in question, while I said I'll keep it toned down I made no assurance that it won't happen again. This is to absolve you of future accussations as much as it is to accurately publish the facts.
