Adaptable Ali: Thats why i dont like Firefox. It 'gives" you so many "surprises" you havent asked for / need. Happens many times that you get a message "Firefox is uploading blah blah blah and will start in a few minutes". Not to mention problems like yours with a frozen screen :( No i prefer a reliable browser as Internet Explorer. Those who like new "toys" can play with Firefox LOL
<span>The short story: you’ll need just a computer and to have downloaded Skype and an internet connection (broadband preferred).
All modern home computers can run Skype and you can use the built-in microphone and speakers to make calls. You’ll get much better audio quality if you buy a headset. You can purchase one at the Skype shop or at your local computer store.
The technical bit: You need a PC running Windows, a sound card, microphone (built-in or external) and speakers or headset.
wetware: Havent tried that, but i doubt that that's the problem since that computer didnt work when i had it connected direct to the router either, but of course ill try your suggestion :) thanks
rednaz23: I bought a Microsoft Zune 30 gb...same pricerange, easier to upload music/videos, bigger screen and it has FM radio which i dont think any Ipods have.
anastasia: Do you have a Kodak camera? I have a Kodak and the videos come in .mov format = Quicktime movie. Plays perfect in the computer but not in a DVD-player. There are many programs where you can convert, i tried a free one but it didnt work out too well. Im sure if you do a google serach for videoconverter you'll be able to find one
Rose: My oldest (free) account is from that time too (1997 i think). I wonder how long it will take to be "free", they say "just go to change my account if you want to finish it"...will be another struggle for sure :(
WhiteTower: I second your opinion about Yahoo/geocities..i have a domain/webpage/email there too, i pay $14 / month but each time ill go there i have the same struggle. Last week i couldnt even acces my file manager. Tried to email them but all i could find was FAQs.
Im going to move all my stuff (pics, htmls) to a free account now. Not paying almost $ 200 / year for that crap
Pythagoras: Thanks...but i leave it as it is now...if anyone wants it blinking they have to use Netscape LOL..I wont waste more time on it..especially not now since my computer broke :(
Antje: click the right arrow under 'personals" in the left side of the toolbar..then youll see "Webmail" right of where the temperature is..you can do it!!
Ferjo: Yup..thats the one. Probably my Nero isnt correct installed ..when i go to "choose recorder" i only get 1 option "image recorder", tried to click help but it doesnt work either

Ferjo and Rahvin: Thanks..yes i have tried Nero and the cd works fine using a pc but when i try to watch it on TV (dvd-player) i have "ERROR"
Ill keep trying, the link (yup it works fine now ) seems to have a lot of good info...thanks both.
Stevie we have noticed a speed increase too after installing the router so if you are abnormal ..you're not alone LOL
RAHVIN666: My suggestion is that you go to the routers webpage (is it Linksys?) Im no expert tho. We have five computers here connected to router and a hub..(WITH wires) and it works fine, can be slow if 2 people are downloading music or videos at the same time tho :)
Stevie: we have cable modem too. When Antje is using her laptop she has it connected to a router (wired of course ) I doubt that you can add a laptop to your pc but im no expert :)
Internet will crash in 2006 -Finnish professor to STT
18.10.2004 at 10:36
The internet will crash in 2006, goes the bleak forecast by Professor Hannu H. Kari of the Helsinki University of Technology.
He added in an interview to the Finnish News Agency (STT) that the demise of the internet is very likely when current indicators are considered.
Prof Kari said his vision is not even the worst case scenario, which says the internet will likely crash significantly earlier.
The explosive growth of computer viruses and unsolicited email has contributed to the coming crash. The next phases are the deterioration of computer grid reliability and an increase in the manipulation of internet content, the professor spells.
Finally, the entire system will crumble to bits as the sheer bulk of rubbish circling around in the net exceeds the public pain threshold, confidence in information retrieved online plummets and attacks do away with reliability, Prof Kari, known for his pessimistic internet forecasts, said.
Further, when the internet is no longer operational for business purposes, one has to time warp back 10 to 20 years and make do without information networks, he continues.
"The problem is that we have so many ill-meaning people who intentionally seek to do harm. Earlier, the internet has coped with the excess baggage and the additional needs because everyone wanted the same things and behaved well," Kari recalls.
Preparedness is the best weapon to guarantee future security on the internet, Kari urges.
"We cannot stick our heads in the bush and tell ourselves that everything is OK. We simply have to start from the premise that we have to undertake pre-emptive decisions."
