honestly, I just found out it was out last week lol. I don't worry about FF like I used to with IE. Not as many loopholes so you don't need to update every 14 hours.
<ok so the PC dosn't support 2.0 . Make sure the devices you are using aren't 2.0.
other than that try some of those steps:
if you are using the front usb ports, make sure they are connected right (I've seen them wrong a few times)
make sure the devices work when connected directly into the PC. defective devices do happen.
Make sure all drivers are installed. Some devices will require installing the driver package before plugging in the device. Some devices will also require basic USB files from the Windows CD before the unit will function. The general rule is to always follow installation directions precisely and to have the Windows CD ready when using 98. WinXP has almost every driver made preinstalled so this isn't an issue with XP.
Check the device manager (right click on my computer, properties,) and see if you are having any unknown device driver issues. If so, try to update the unknown device driver from within Device Manager. First try letting Windows search for one. If that fails, go back and choose "Select from a list" and then "Have disk". Browse to the device CD and look for the appropriate Windows folder there. Try browsing to the Windows CD (Win9x folder or i386 folder). Lastly, try updated drivers from the manufacturer's web site.
Try uninstalling the unknown device, unplugging the device and rebooting. Replug when back in Windows.
Be certain that you have the correct drivers! You may have gotten the wrong CD or a CD with drivers for more than one device on it.
Cleaning up in Safe Mode may be necessary. Unplug all USB devices. Reboot the PC. To enter Safe Mode, press the F8 key repeatedly while restarting the PC. Timing is important. Try to press quickly before the Windows logo screen appears. Pressing and holding the CTRL key may work too. Choose Safe Mode and open Device Manager. In Windows 2000 and XP, click View > Show hidden devices. Now locate all USB devices, HID (Human Interface Devices), USB drives and controllers/hubs. Remove all and save the USB Host Controllers for last. When done, restart and replug USB devices one at a time.
If all else fails, just remember that you are entitled to support from the device maker. If you can't get help, do not hesitate to return the device. Some manufacturers only seem to respond to lost business. It's a shame, but it's true. Send them a message - that you won't accept shoddy goods or lackluster support.
Hrqls: What they said. Another thing to look at, is the hub USB 1.1 or 2.0? If you have a 1.1 hub and a 2.0 device, the PC will not see it because they aren't compatible. On the other hand, a 2.0 hub will see a 1.1 device just fine.
I don't know what to tell ya, I just tried it 3 times (once on here and twice on ebay) and it printed the selection just fine for me. You are just highlighing what you want and hitting ctrl-P right?
ummm somethings wrong lol. You should be buying fastern burn rate disc to begain with (52x). How fast is your burner? It should only take 2-4 mins to burn a cd. As for DVD, it takes me about 10 mins to burn a full 4Gb DVD.
sounds more like an overheating/hardware problem to me than a software issue. what temps are your CPU, GC, and HDD'(s) running at normal and when you launch thr apps? I had a problem like the one you are having. Everytime I played a graphics intense game, I would freeze up after a few mins. I found out that my GC was running VERY hot (around 130-140) and that was my problem. I moved into a different case put 6 fans in and now I have no problems what so ever!
Rose: There's another site (I'll have to find it again) that you can get a sat pic of your house for free. I belive the free pics are 50m res and the pay-for-pics are 3m. On the 3m ones, you can read the headline on the paper in your yard.
Bob's easy way to remove problems from computer...
1.) Unplug the CPU (that's the "box").
2.) Very carefully carry it to your car.
3.) Drive at a speed way below the posted limit.
4.) Arrive at the tallest building in your city, state, country, planet, etc.
5.) Take CPU to the top floor.
6.) Toss out open window.
7.) Go to best buy, frys, circuit city, etc.
8.) Buy a new one!
Hrqls: I don't know what you have where you live but here in the US, I have the blackberry 7520 with Nextel. It has full GPS, it's bluetooth, it's a full PDA, and it's even a cell phone lol. The price isn't bad either....
I use the d-link DI-604 and I love it. I host my own webserver and config is very easy. Any feature I like is when I host server's for online games, I have my router setup to only allow traffic at certain times of the day (when I'm at home).
IMHO, software firewall's suck. Get a hardware firewall such as a router.
As for free web space, do you have a static IP? If so, set up your own server. I have my own and a few people here do as well. It's not that hard to do.
You use 12 cords for 2 speakers- 2 sets of speakers=2 power cords-2 input cords-2 left to right cords-2 subwofer cords-2 back speaker cords (one set is surround.)
Also if you have windows XP and upgrade to SP2, the new I.E. has a built-in blocker. If you use a browser like Firefox! has a built in blocker as well!
I have the bellsouth Xtreme DSL service. The line is rated at 3.0Mb down and something like 624Kb up. In real life I get about 2.7-2.85 down. Still, it's worth every penny lol
I got tired of nuke (after about an hour lol) and I switched to IPBNuke so I can run IPB forums instead of the god awful phpBB. Was hard to set up, but I'm happy I did it because IPB is 400x better than phpBB.
Is anyone running php-nuke on any of there sites? I have a local server on which I have Apache, PHP, MySQL and every add-on you can think of. I installed php-nuke last night and I must say, it's very strange. Is anybody else on here running it?
Dano-It's not just IE that's the problem. It's the whole windows OS. I have two XP machines at home just because some stuff I need windows for (certain programs, etc). I also 2 red hat 9.0 boxes that I use for most everything else. Nobody writes virus for linux yet lol
well I use mozilla which has a pop-up blocker built in too. If you have spyware on your system, it's not poping up in IE so much as just poping up in general when you visit certain sites or sometimes (depending on the program) just pops up when not even online. Also another problem is that when you are on a broadband connection, certain web spiders, crawelers, etc can use the windows messenging service (not windows messenger, two different things) to pop-up adds. There's a simple fix for this too, but if you don't know about it, it gets annoying.
spybot-vs-adaware. I use both because they are both free and sometimes one will catch something the other misses.
gooner, the blue screen of death, as we call it, happens on startup sometimes after your computer gets shut down wrong (i.e. the power goes out, using the power button while still in windows, windows froze completly). When the screen comes up, windows normaly does a scan disk to make sure the hard drives are physicaly ok, then restarts.
hummm try to make the error happen again and then either copy-paste the whole error message or take a screenshot and send it to me.
MM the knowledge base has all the error messages, reasons why errors happen, and fixes for errors. It's located Here. When I was working in tech support I used it 15 or 20 times a day.
