MadMonkey: I read all of the final posts, too... I actually like reading the events. Oftentimes, I will click on the tournament link in that final message to see where the tournament stands, and then I will delete the message. Sure, it can also be done before I make my final move, but it's also nice to have it all in one place (Events) in case I wish to reference it later. I never have a large accumulation of event messages... I can play for hours and maybe get up to 20 messages, so I take the 1-2 minutes before I sign off and quickly browse and delete the messages. I can't imagine anyone is finishing hundreds of games in one sitting, not even the people that have 3,000 games going on. Just keep up with your inbox and don't let it get out of control.
And for Fencer: Just remember that it is impossible to make everyone happy. I would rather see time spent to add new games or to fix bugs rather than add/delete features that are a matter of personal preference anyway.
This is a feature request regarding earning achievements, that I know has been brought up before, but I don't believe there has been any response.
It would be nice to be able to view a table so you know which games or tournaments you are lacking in order to earn an achievement. Example # 1: "10 won tournaments of 50 game types" -- As this applies to public tournaments only, it would be nice to see which of my 35 game types that I have already met this. It is nearly impossible for me to tell simply by looking at my finished games page, as I have many fellowship tournaments mixed in with this.
Example # 2: "10 won games of 50 game types" - It shows I have 39. I would like to know which 39 game types have already satisfied this. In looking at my finished games, I have 65 game types that have appeared to satisfy this, but I do not know which 39 of these 65 have truly satisfied the requirement. If I knew, then I could focus on playing games of the other types in order to reach 50. Going along with this, it would be nice to know how many games within each game type have satisfied this requirement... i.e. 9 won games of Frog Finder, so I would know I need to win one more game against a unique opponent.
There are many such examples in these achievements, but I have only listed the 2 above.
Although this post is regarding achievements, it is a feature request. For those of us who have fellowship "won tournaments" mixed in with our public "won tournaments," it is difficult to know how close we are to achieving some of the public won tournament achievements. For example, the achievement "10 won tournaments of 50 game types" means "Win 10 public tournaments in 50 games." Well, my stat says 21/50, but I have no idea which 21 game types I have won 10 public tournaments in, because I have many game types with fellowship tournaments mixed in there (many more than 21 game types in which there are 10 won tournaments). It would be nice to have a more detailed breakdown of which game types have satisfied this achievement, and the number I am lacking in the others as well. This way, I might want to focus on playing more tournaments of that particular game type. There are several of the tournament achievements that could use this more detailed breakdown.
BrainKing is calculating this in a table somewhere, so there should be a way to give the player visibility to this.
coan.net: The more players there are, the more fun this game is, as the bluffing opportunity becomes quite large with 4+ players. But for a 2 person game, your proposed plan below would work.
Yes, you can start out by stating that you have four 6's... you do not have to start with a low number. Like most games, everybody will come up with their own rules.
Having spent several years in China as well as traveling there on business for the last 14 years, I have played this game and it is a lot of fun... however, I'm not sure how fun it will be over the internet. It is fun because of the quick play, usually alcohol is involved. I think this game would need to be played in a real-time setting, like Brainking's current poker rooms.
I like the protected chess concept, as it brings more complexity to the game of chess, which is why I like chess variants so much. However, I would like to see a protected chess similar to a "Knight relay chess," where the protected piece can move normally, but can also move like the piece that is protecting it. So if a pawn is protected by a rook, the pawn has rook capabilities. If a queen is protected by a knight, the queen has knight capabilities (in addition to it's regular queen movements). If a rook is protected by a bishop, it has rook + bishop capabilities, etc.
I like the mortal loop chess concept... every drop brings about a "demotion" until the piece is eventually cleared from the board when captured as a pawn.
Субъект: Re: Crossdresser Chess - new game proposal
ChessVariant: Seems interesting. In theory, if you move 8 different pieces in a row (i.e. move each pawn in your first 8 moves), you could end up with 8 queens. Check-mating strategy would involve "circling the wagons" and hoping for the best.
Mad Monkey had a great idea regarding dice chess... why not have a random dice chess variation or a crazy screen dice chess 10x10 variation... this way, people could place kings in opposite corners, etc
furbster:
I must be blind... I'm a paying member but can't find the charts/graphs anywhere on this site. I did a search and found that it's supposed to be on my user profile page? I don't see anything there... where can I find the charts/graphs?
