Now if someone will just tell me they are guessing 1, then i can guess 2 (and since I know they will lie to me and guess 3, I will guess 4 to counter-act their lie! Muhahahaha
lol big bad wolf, the evil laugh, i found quite appropriate
I believe you will be able to see what everyone else has left - so if you see someone for example only has 30 points left, you KNOW that all you will have to bet that time is 31 points to make it to the next round.
With THIS strategy - with so many people in the game, I believe this game will take a long time - but I believe this is basicly a "test" game to see how it does - I believe Fencer will start having other games with the limit of 20-25-50 players (or something like that.)
Well the bonus is only 500 points, so once it gets close to the end, and lets say everyone has around or below 500 points - if you are the highest, you can guess your max every time, win, and get 500 points and win the game.
... that hard part - get that far and still have the highest amount of points! :-)
But if you guess the highest and tie with someone else, nobody gets the bonus? For example I guess 20,000 and so does someone else, neither of us gets the bonus, and therefore have nothing left to guess in the next round, and be eliminated?
Also, after round 1, someone may have more left than anyone else, and be able to guess their maximum and be gauranteed a bonus for another round of guessing?
It sounds interesting. It doesnt sound like there really can be too many people, but it may take quite awhile anyway.
Basicly your goal is to guess 1 number higher then the lowest guessing player.
So if someone on Turn one guesses only "1", then anyone that guessed 2-20,000 will make it to the next round. (And then in the next round, the person who guessed 2 will have 19,998 points left - while everyone else will have less points to guess with.)
Plus I think there is a bonus of 500 for whoever guesses highest.
Now if someone will just tell me they are guessing 1, then i can guess 2 (and since I know they will lie to me and guess 3, I will guess 4 to counter-act their lie! Muhahahaha
So, is it that we determine how many "point" or whatever they are called to put into the pond, trying to put as few in as possible without being the person with the least amount in (or tied with the least amount)?
Then the person or persons with the least amount in gets eliminated, then do it all again with the remaining players? Something like that?
Note that the time estimates are based on 2 days per move. However with vacations and the auto-vacation feature in particular, a few slow players could make this last a lot longer.
Perhaps as people start dying of old age it will speed up a bit!
Hey, I can always define more ponds with a limit to signed users count :-) But the best way how to test the first pass is with as many players as possible.
Wiktor256: Exactly. As I recommended the game to Fencer, I said to him that the optimal number of the runners should be about 20. It's a little bit perverted now... :-)
It will be interesting to see (and play) - of course soon everyone will start to run out of "points" to bet so I don't think it could ever go 230 rounds - and I'm sure many times there will be multiply eleminations.
I see your point Wiktor. That point is only assuming that everyone is grouped together as one section and only if there is only one elimination every 2 days. However no one but Fencer and Liquid knows how it is going to be setup. It could be divided up into several sections like a normal tournament. However even if we are all together in one section, the odds are there will be multiple eliminations at least in the early rounds. With over 200 people in it, you must figure there will be several people betting the same number of points which may be the low bet.My prediction the whole thing will be done within 6-8 months. Still a long time, but not bad with as many people in the run. Your super sized tournaments with 100 or more people last longer than that.
I would hope it wouldn't take that long.. but, then again.. I've never played it before.. and not really sure of the rules.. so I probably won't last too many rounds..
Currently there are 230 players signed for this new game. In the worst case, there will be 1 player eliminated per round. This means 230 rounds. Since there is 2 days per move, the game will last at least 460 days (not counting holidays). I think there should be some changes done to the rules, because this is not going to work.
It's weird, my wife's disappeared. Maybe I was in a species of BrainKing catalepsy from which her existence or otherwise ceased to register. Fencer, can you put a warning on the front page: "this site may be unsuitable for those who might ignore their wife if thinking".
