I use firefox. I have to refresh every page here, but nowhere else.I get a blank page, hit refresh, click "resend info" when it says it has to, THEN get "firefox blocked a pop up" and have to click allow. Not for each move within a game, just to submit and go to another. I've added Brainking.com as an exception to the pop up blocker.
this is very recent. what do I need to do, please? anyone know? tyvmia

crosseyed: you missed my point which was every site has its problems at some stage i use to get mega problems on here few years ago esp when i needed to make alot of moves that day but for last couple of years never had a problem with white pages
Roberto Silva: Right and even if I've lost the match, I can still get satisfaction out of trying to win the remaining game(s). Every game is an opportunity to hone your skills or learn something.
Carpe Diem: i play also for fun and not for the BKR, but when a loose is 100% the game for me is decided and i loose the interest to play it till the end. i think it's individual, so if you feel to resign a game, just do it.
JerNYC: Agreed. I would only see the point of resigning if you are limited in the number of games or are needlessly dragging down a tournament. Otherwise, what's one more game?
But maybe that's me, as I play in Brainking for the fun of playing games, not for the BKR or number of wins.
Carpe Diem: Always propose that option to your opponent rather than employing it on your own. This will give them a say in the matter. I think most people enjoy playing a game out, even in an otherwise losing cause.
Carpe Diem: Seems like you came up with a good answer yourself :-) I think the option to create n game matches is a bit silly anyway. If this had be 2 win match instead, it would have been over by now. And yes, some people have so many games going that they don't seem to pay attention at all. I have a game where I've literally been winning for years, and my opponent doesn't seem very excited at all about playing on - but still does so.
Just looking for some opinions on this - do people consider it poor form to resign the 3rd game of a 3 game match when you are leading 2-0, just to end it sooner? I'd do it when down 2-0, but I don't want to deprive people of that third game if it's going to bother them. The result of the match has already been determined, but the fact that they don't resign could be an indication that they'd like to play every game. Or they're just not paying attention.
Thinking about it, I guess I'd limit this strategy to people with lots of games going, as opposed to someone who only has 10 games on the go.
crosseyed: Hey, I had a whole three games going a few days ago! But you're right, it really isn't an issue for me. Free is a good price so I have no reason to complain. And it's not a serious enough problem for me to switch over to Chrome. I'm trying to break the 2100 BKR barrier in chess, but haven't been able to do it so I'm limiting my number of games to 5 or less.
MadMonkey: Eusing asks automatically and then backs up the registry before cleaning. Neer had any problems with it on XP or 7.
Though, as a all in one http://slimcleaner.com/ I've found works better on Win 7 as a good registry cleaner and washer of all old internet junk from your caches, etc.
Artful Dodger: Yeah, that is the one i used to use when i used Windows all the time . As i am more Linux person now i dont need to
Really, if you just use your PC for just everyday internet use, Registry cleaners are not needed. If you download and Install (and more to the point UNINSTALL) lots of programs then they are very useful (BUT always remember to make a Back-up)
speachless, crosseyed, ellieoop, Old Biddy: I dont know what you have tried, but give this program a go...I instal it on all PC rebuilds i do, it will certainly get rid of any rubbish slowing your computer down.........
You have to set it up, by ticking what boxes you want it to clean, but it VERY straight forward
(the only ones i don't tick are Passwords & Wipe free space, but each to their own )
Also note, their is also a program included with CCleaner, that will clean your Registry. Cleaning Registries is not always advised, but as long as you back it up first it should be no problem. I always used it and have never had any issues
Is all this will do is make sure you computer is clean, so can run as best it can. It won't help, server issues or connection problems
speachless: I was having problem this morning using internet explorer with the site showing the white pages for ages. So I decided to try using Firefox and I am able to play my games with no problems and it is much faster.
ellieoop: when i had some days ago problem with the slow brainking site i tried several things to see if i have a local problem. therefore i tried with chrome as well, but also with safari, firefox and internet explorer. didn't help at all. also tried to delete the history cause i use to make lots of moves a day, tried to deactivate and reactivate my wi-fi connection, etc.... usually i don't have problems with brainking but the mentioned day i had like lots of other users. it just seams some users had problems and other not.
I enter with just brainking.com too, so I think the problem must have something to do with locality. That seems to be the common denominator. I tried brainking.com/pt to see what the "pt" does... the language on the login page is in portuguese. Oh well, it never hurts to experiment.
Like Justaminute, Resher and Aganju, I too am not having any kind of problems when accessing the site in the past few... weeks. Sometime ago, someone suggested it had to do with the URL it is used to enter the site, i'm using brainking.com/pt (no "www"), maybe it could help.
Two points I want to make. One, the problem doesn't originate in Fencers backyard even though it affects the people playing there. And two, the "customer is always right" began years ago at a large department store as a promotional gimmick. It caught on with customers everywhere (no surprise) and quickly became a sort of proverb, often quoted by (again, no surprise) unhappy customers. It's not a rule of any sort, and originally it only meant to convey how eager that particular department store was to please their customers. In reality no one really believes the customer is always right, and Fencer can hardly be held responsible for servers not under his control. So let's all get real, okay? I don't like taking half a day to make two moves but hey, stuff happens.
Or, the gremlins are doing it... that seems to be the most reasonable explanation.
