Ämne: Arbiter needed
I need some help from the XQ rule experts among you. Please take a look at one of my games. According to my interpretation of Chapter 21 within the Asian rules I am of the opinion that my opponent has to stop chasing my rook and play another move either instead of Ng3 or instead of Ni2. My opponent doesn't agree so I need someone who explains to him why he has to change moves, or someone who explains to me why I have to change moves. Thanks in advance!

435152: sorry, but I don't understand what you mean? If you have only advisors and elephants, then you can't win, and if the other side has additional pieces then this only improves the winning chances of the other side. Or what did you mean?

Ändrat av kleineme (18. april 2006, 22:22:03)
Do you play Chinese Chess?
Do you have a Xiangqi-BKR below 1800?
Do you want to win a 1-Year-Rook-Membership?

Then this is the right tournament for you! Just join and try to be the best - the winner takes it all!

In order to keep the competition within the targeted rating range, three special rules will be enforced:

- No unrated players!
- Players whose BKR goes over 1799 until the start of the tournament will be removed!
- Players whose highest published BKR has been 1900 or above will be removed!

Come on and join!

Ämne: Re: Perpetual check
DragonKing: That's a question which has to be answered by Fencer. Such a feature certainly would be desirable but the rules, especially for perpetual chasing, can be quite tricky. Anyway I don't think that it's an urgent matter on a turnbased site because first you can inform your opponent about the rules, and if that doesn't help then you can always message Fencer and ask him to take measures. That is if you know the rules ;) If you don't and you agree to a draw because you think the same rules as in western chess apply then it's too late ;)

Ämne: Perpetual check
Hi,

seeing that there are still draws by perpetual check, recently in these two games:

http://brainking.com/en/ArchivedGame?g=1160405
http://brainking.com/en/ArchivedGame?g=1049399

I think it makes sense to repeat an important rule: Contrary to western chess perpetual check is not allowed in chinese chess, as it is explained under "Other important rules" on the rules page: http://brainking.com/en/GameRules?tp=68

Hi,
the rules about repetition can become rather complicated. If you want to delve into the details you may go to the bottom of http://www.geocities.com/xqlearner/manual/rule/index.html where you can download an english translation of the Asian rules. Which can be different from the Chinese rules ;)

As a direct reply I want to say four things:
1) If the two players want a draw then they can agree upon a draw, they do not have to conspire to repeat moves ;)
2) Usually you are allowed to repeat moves which do not consist of checks and chases.
3) Usually the player who starts the repetiton has to deviate.
4) Usually you are allowed to attack protected pieces repeatedly.

Hi,
sorry for pointing you to that game ;) My question was more in the direction of the enforcement of this rule. On other sites this rule is automatically enforced by the "system" itself. Whom would I have to address here if my opp doesn't want to quit checking?

Ämne: Handling of perpetual checking/chasing
Hi,
considering the fact that perpetual checking is not allowed, what measures Red could have taken if he were not satisfied with a draw in http://brainking.com/de/ArchivedGame?g=983380 ?
