the dice here do not support one of the basic rules in backgammon about use of the dice when only one can be moved... some people consider it cheating.. others consider it legal because this site supports it... i try to play according to the rules...
Steve, I don't know how many times a day I get accused of this! It is impossible to change the dice at backgammon, they are completely random and theres no way to alter that.
if you were able to move the 6 and moved the 3 instead .. than that move would be in poor taste.... but since there was no move available for the 6 then only thing you could do is move the 3 .. which is a legal move...
I need you to inform the players here that there is no way that I can cheat by arranging the dice to roll what I need in backgammon.
I am fed up with one going on and on about me cheating
Thanks, Fencer...now about those 40 games that timed-out. Do you want to get the numbers from my message box?
And I assume my membership time will be extended accordingly?
I understand this right. In 1 of my games I have all but 2 of my men in home. My last two are close but on same spot. I roll a 3-6. I could have moves the 3 with 1 of my men in home but then would not have been able to move the 6 cause my oppent has that spot covered. If I would have done it that way it would have been said that I was cheating for not using both dice right? If that is so then I'm glad I did not do it that way...
I apologise to the following members of whom whose games I've timed out due to circumstances beyond my control.
These games will be reinstated one day and the tournaments may progress normally.
Is there any chance you could sort out my account today? I have 145 games to move in and I can't and, as you know, I haven't been able to for over a week. This has resulted in my timing-out in 36 games - which I want reinstated.
It's really of no interest to me that everything in my account in BK2 is fine. There's never anyone there when I'm there. Maybe I should invite a few people over?
You all know I was a direct victim of ChiefKM's (Purple GZ) manipulations and internet fraud. I continue to be a victim of Purple through the spreading of more lies. But with Usurper, it is a very different story. If anyone has a reason to hold a grudge againts Usurper, it would be me. However, I have been in contact with him since his return and consider him a close BK friend. I believe everything he says on his profile and my trust in him, and my friendship with him, has been fully restored. Welcome back Usurper.
As many of you would have seen Usurper (Greg) is now back using his old i.d.
As he can not post on boards being a pawn, he has asked me to post for him.
To all of his old friends and game players, please would you spare a minute to read Usupers Profile
Personally i would say its not realy worth it Fencer. With all the copy/pasting that goes on and people allowing others to access there accounts here, is it really worth it ?
Although saying that, $199 spread over all the Rook members is less than a dollar a year.
Bernice's question brings up another topic, related to a security and privacy. The point is that your private data are mostly vulnerable not here on our servers but on the way from your computer to us. HTTP is not a secure protocol and it is possible [I don't say it's really happening but technically it is possible] to grab the data somewhere in the middle [proxy server, ISP] and read them.
Of course, there is a solution. Instead of insecure HTTP, a secure protocol [HTTPS] can be used. However, in order to do it in this way, we would need to buy a certificate which costs $199 a year [or more, I am not sure]. And somebody has to pay for it.
My question is - is it really necessary to support a secure protocol here? Would anybody use it? If so, what about to make it available only for users who pay some extra small fee as an addition to their normal membership fee?
Sure but GMT doesn't change so why does my clock change when it's set for GMT+9? These messages are timed at about half past one for me on this page whereas the time is only half past midnight.
Fencer is just like any other administrator at any busniss. Where I work, I have access to all data, plus all e-mail messages and traffic in and out of my building, plus access to anything on any computer in my building. Yet, the only time I have ever used any "power" was after a user leaves the busniss, to go in there and "transfer" the data to another user who would take over their job. Plus if someone reported a problem (lets say another user sending porn/spam/threats, that would be a case that I would go look - but other then that, like Fencer - we have no time.)
-- similar story. I use to work for a manufaturing building (build Yale/Hyster trucks), that was closing down. The manager was getting very paranoid about everything (very tense time for all workers), and even requested that he be given access to everything on the network, and to limit myself to not see the managers stuff. (I told him no, not possible) - so he started to keep all his data on his personal lap top, and I think stoped using the internal mail system for anything important. I sure was hoping he would have problems with his laptop! <evil grin>
thank you....that is the answer i expected :)
YOU CAN access all private messages, and if you felt there was a problem with someone you really dont need the messages sent to you as you have access :)
It is a case of "being careful what you say behind closed doors"
Bernice: There is a difference between what I can do and what I really do. Some things are obvious and it's not necessary to say them explicitely. For example, all BrainKing data must be stored somewhere, right? And since the data are stored on our servers and we [Liquid and me] are the administrators, we, of course, have the full access to all data, otherwise we wouldn't be able to fix them in case of problems. This is how all web services work.
But, hey, do you really think that I have so much free time to sneak through the whole database and read your private messages? First, I never do such things in any case, I respect privacy of our users [so does Liquid]. Second, I can name 10 more important things I have to do and I really have no time for anything else. Is that clear enough?
Is it possible for you to view all my PM's to friends???
You seem to be able to access everything else, therefore I assume you can access private messages very easily????
is this correct and if so ...why havent we been told of this before???
