Gabriel Almeida: I dont play many games & come here every day so therefore I play very fast too. Games that drag on forever are a total bore in my opinion!
FrancescoLR: I can guarantee: Francsco is VERY FAST! Go, bro...! Bjorn,my opinion is that you must know the fast players. With those players, any time limit is good! For example, against Francesco, I wouldn't mind to play a "30 days" game, cause I know he would never stay 1 day without moving. That's the point, I think!
Bjornalmar: You are still able to play a fast game with someone even if the time limits are set for a week or more....
I would look at the quick players club list and find someone online and send them an invite to play a game through to completion.... its probably better to make the time limit a bit longer than an hour though, just in case someone has a problem for some reason, and you dont want to lose because of a time out.
The very best option though is to become a paying member and start so many games that you always have moves to make in some games.
Bjornalmar: You can create games with 1h / game (each player has 1h to make all his moves, meaning the game can last up to 2h max - usually less). If you create games with such settings either one of three things will occur - you find nobody willing to play such games against you; or you find players to play against you but realize that it's not such a good idea to play very fast games on this site; or you find players that play fast just like you want and all goes well.
Bjornalmar: i believe there are some fellowships which are concentrated on that .. i dont know which though (you need to be a paying member to be able to join fellowships)
there is also a list known as the 'quick players club' which can be found here : HerculesBeast
Just curious if it could be possible to make a place on this site for people wanting to play fast games with a timelimit less than one hour per move/game?
My trouble is that I get involved in games and wait and wait for the other person to make a move. I know this site is a turns based game site, but I am thinking of a site were it will be able to set the time limit for moves to maybe, lets say, more than one minute and less than 60 minutes?
Or a place where we could expect the other player to be "online" through a whole game.... If you understand what I mean?
Bernice: i have found out why he would think that....I havent looked at the main page since forever, but I just went there as an unpaying customer and "casino" is all over the place........
I asked an avid chess player if he had tried this site, and this was his reply... ***I looked at it. I'm a little wary of Web sites that have casino tie-ins. Last time I played on one I almost never got all gthe adware off my computer. ***
This is about an idea i have had for awhile, and here it is in text; I think that Brainking should have a new sister site called Brainking Live that allows you to play fast games of chess and checker variants. Anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour per player per game, it would be similar to Brainking, but it could have these features: 1. ratings that are different to Brainking 2. tournaments once a month 3. chat 4. learning centre 5. past games It could be similar to xymyx.com which was advertised at Brainking here I was hoping that Fencer could do this one day, it would be hugely popular, people can then decide to play at the original Brainking or the new Brainking Live I would be interested to hear what people think of this idea, it sounds great to me
Binabik: In the past few days I have had it happen.. Go to any game that you lost your message in.. at or near the bottom is show message archive.. i had to click it to get mine back
ruby2shoes: If you click it, it takes you to Brainking's "Bug Tracker".
Fencer added it to all pages, so that if there is a bug, and you click the "bug" on that page, bug tracker will "take note" of the page where you discovered the bug. (For example if you click it from a game, the URL of that game will be in bug tracker, so that you don't have to remember to specify which game you have spotted a bug in.)
I don't want to change my page setup to see the chat box, nor do I want to enable Java stuff on all the other pages, nor do I think I want it on the top of my main page.
Is there any way to get a "Chat box" page - with a link in the left column that I people who don't use default BrainKing page setups can use to go to the Chat box? (that of course will show up on the chat page even if someone has the Java stuff disabled in their settings)
Stats of won Cheversi games white 991 (28.54 %) black 2341 (67.42 %) draw 140 (4.03 %)
Well, these are the stats including the games before the rules change (where Black won almost every game). Fencer, do you have also stats of played games after the rules change?
answer is simple for those who were roaming at the different turn-based sites ... here you can feel the presence of the programmer, you can see him playing and responding, you can tell, he loves games too ... here is the atmosphere, european atmosphere which sometimes reminds me about childrens playground where everybody wants to be heard but nobody listens ... but that's ok, comparing to seveal similar in nature sites, here is the life, the energy, the prresent moment ... you are not anonymous, you are not in the middle of soulless servers and always late responses ... I would like to say: thank you Fencer for your courage to manage so many thousands characters and still have time to play and for your private life .... there were many instances I would be better shutting my mouth up, but I was sending emails to Fencer and he always found time to answer ... at least he tried to answer most important questions ... let us support this site as long as we can ... we are not going to find something like this site in the entire cyberspace ... Andy.
Fencer, could you make the Main page link visible again in the Simple set up, when using the chat box please It is still there in it same place it used to be (at top of screen) but you can not see it (only red number on right) as the chat box is on top of it, so it cant be used
