Tuesday: Cats remind me of women, impossible to figure out,but a challange I was raised with up to 2 dogs,1 cat,and a military macaw all at the same time.I enjoy them all individually
Tuesday: They're fighting the good fight, apparently some of them have understandably tough days, but I think they look for those who can make it through,I couldn't,I'd probably take the same hammer to the flunky doing it to the animal
Tuesday: You see, watching another animal taking down its own prey(less the screaming)doesn't bother me nearly as much, not sure why,and I'm probably numbed to human destruction, but seeing and hearing that pig, ripped my heart out
anastasia: I turned it off 2 seconds into the scream, regardless if you eat meat or not, eating an animal who has died in distress apparently impacts the quality of the meat

CAT DIARY
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat-while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Idiots!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously beyond hope.
Subjekt: Re: Dog meat off Chinese menus during upcoming Beijing Olympics
wetware: In some was it comes across as an admission of guilt. If eating dog is ok in their minds, why ban it for any event.................ok,maybe if they were hosting a dog show
Subjekt: Dog meat off Chinese menus during upcoming Beijing Olympics
BEIJING - Canine cuisine is being sent to the doghouse during next month's Beijing Olympic Games. The Xinhua News Agency reports dog meat has been struck from the menus of officially designated Olympic restaurants.Beijing tourism officials are telling other outlets to discourage consumers from ordering dishes made from dogs. Dog, known in Chinese as "xiangrou," or "fragrant meat," is eaten by some Chinese for its purported healthy qualities. Beijing isn't the first Olympic host to slap a ban on the dish.South Korea banned dog meat during the 1988 Seoul Olympics by invoking a law prohibiting the sale of "foods deemed unsightly."
ScarletRose: I think there's a degree of truth in most of these points of view.Do I think studies could show pit bulls to have far less violent temperament than depicted?
Yes, but a percentage of owners train them otherwise,it's the owners who are at fault. There are always going to be out of character accidents, like a toy poodle thirsting for blood, and in some cases a dog(any breed)is just plain mean, owners just have to be careful, animals are unpredictable.
by the way,I too love labs, and have wanted one for years
Subjekt: Re: wow! who would have thought THIS..oh,wait,ME!
anastasia: No,the general public rarely does hear about those thankless jobs trusted to breeds such as pit bulls, but sadly that's the nature of our news.I think you know by now that I'm on your side on most points of this issue.
Subjekt: Re: wow! who would have thought THIS..oh,wait,ME!
anastasia: I was at my local humane society last week,at least 70% of the dogs were pit bulls,a little poodle was shaking and looked terrified from all the barking,it was a sad scene........................in regards to your post, some smaller dogs may be more aggressive, but they don't possess the power to kill like a pit bull, maybe if the individual stood still and let themselves be bitten a few hundred times, but otherwise unless it's a baby, the injuries would be far less than that of a likeminded pit bull
Subjekt: Re: But at least they TRIED to help him ..... true?

awesome: Amazingly, thoroughbred times haven't dropped much in the last 30 or more years,in harness racing a 2 minute mile was once the litmus test of greatness, now they run around 1:50,and that evolved over around 10 years or less.I don't know what that says in breed comparisons,or if it is shown that harness horses are more brittle, frankly all I know about racing was due to overexposure lol
Subjekt: Re: But at least they TRIED to help him ..... true?
wetware: There are probably more racetracks in Asia than the USA,not to mention Canada.I just don't see race tracks to be the "killing fields" some are depicting them to be,or the sport deemed worthy of banning.I have zero interest in the sport, but my mom's folks raised show horses and my dad owned standard breds,he kissed them on the nose before every race or after,no matter the result
Subjekt: Re: But at least they TRIED to help him ..... true?
wetware: I'm not trying to be argumentitive, but based on the number of race tracks in the states, your stats don't add up.Each track has about 80 horses racing per day
Subjekt: Re: But at least they TRIED to help him ..... true?
wetware: Do yo have any idea how many racetracks there are in North America? let alone Asia and the rest of the world. An average racing card is say 10 races, with on average say 8 horses.Based on your calculations,my local track would have(for small) 1 euthanization a week?
Horses get bumps and bruises just like any athlete, and sometimes they never race again, but very very very rarely are they euthenized, and frankly, just like in Barbaro's case,it's to save them a painful death.
I haven't seen this issue raised often, just like those who say "kill all the rotwieller's" when a death occurs,it's knee jerk reactionary behavior.
Subjekt: Re: But at least they TRIED to help him ..... true?
anastasia: I used to get literally dragged to the track,I was never a fan of horse racing, but I did learn much about the people and culture of the sport. Those people can talk horses 24/7,and they really do obsess over their horses.I'm all for anything that improves the safety of both horse and driver or jockey, but I don't think horse racing should be banned.Too often the spotlight is put on something due to a rare incident causing people to overreact,I think this qualifies
Subjekt: Re: But at least they TRIED to help him ..... true?
srnity: That's the one.My dad owned harness race horses,I was around the barn a lot.Don't underestimate the love both owners and trainers have for those horse,it's sincere in the vast number of cases.I don't have the stats, but the incidents of those types of terrible accidents is very rare,I don't see it justifying the abolishment of horse racing
Subjekt: Re: I will always wonder if she truly had to be "put-down" or was it just for insurance purposes after all.....
srnity: Remember that horse that race horse that broke its leg a few years back, and how they tried to save it by keeping it in a harness after surgery?
Subjekt: Matchbox 20 Won't Play Because of Some Bull
Matchbox 20 is canceling a show at Cheyenne Frontier Days which bills itself as the world's biggest outdoor rodeo, over their newfound concern for the animals involved. Did they not know what a rodeo was? Lead singer Rob Thomas and his wife, Marisol, posted this statement on the band's website: "We ask that (fans) please understand that it would be impossible for us to put ourselves in the position of making money from what we believe to be the mistreatment of animals." But get this: the band is still scheduled to perform at the North Dakota State Fair, which also includes rodeo events. They'll figure it out eventually.
Subjekt: Re: that's another issue I need clarified, which sex would match best with two female cats?
Ewe: Very helpful,as anastasia mentioned in a prior post, puppies can be unpredictable long term.I should be looking for a dog who has a past living with cats, reassurance too.I also think it wise to give the girls about 3 months in the new place to themselves.
Subjekt: Re: that's another issue I need clarified, which sex would match best with two female cats?
srnity: I work with someone who is a pug nut,she has 3.I think it's a breed you either love or.......I frankly an not fond of the constant snout licking of both bull dogs and pugs, almost like they have a never ending cold LOL
Subjekt: Re: ..as she gets older she is becoming extremely dominate..so much in fact that she is challanging D for the dom statues between the 2 of them
srnity: that's another issue I need clarified, which sex would match best with two female cats?
Subjekt: Re: I need to call on your experience and knowledge
anastasia: Jenn would be fine, but Molly literally goes catatonic outside my place.I think a natural environment is the best scenario.I may submit a few breeds to my guy at the humane society,if they pop up he could contact me
Subjekt: Re: I need to call on your experience and knowledge
anastasia: My numero uno priority is that they all get along, age is only a factor in regards to my thinking it help both dog and cats grow into eachother(so to speak)I will definitely be adopting from a shelter,I would be hypocritical otherwise, but it has to be the right match,I refuse to return it once it's brought into my home.
srnity:Yes,smaller males sometimes seem to have a chip on their shoulders regarding size, but we compensate with big cars,it's a Feudian thing I think
Subjekt: Re: I need to call on your experience and knowledge
anastasia: I did a little googling,my first choice would be a beagle, but the howling might drive my even more nuts than I already am Both my girls have claws,so that is a worry, but if it's a puppy they hopefully won't be intimidated
Subjekt: I need to call on your experience and knowledge
I may be moving to a home located on a street with many areas for a dog to enjoy.I previosly was against adopting a dog due to already having two cats, they have sqautters rights, and I didn't want to have a dog couped up in an apt.I need some advice in regards to what dog breeds tend to get along well with cats,it will be a puppy, and it must be a smaller breed.I refuse to have the dog diminish my girls enjoyment of their home, hopefully I can find a breed that will co-exist and compliment our family.
