Ewe: noo foolin, they call them "behavioral therapists" or something fancy shmancy like that,no,I was speaking of your poopy cat
wetware: Yes,did the litter thing,we now have one in both washrooms.I'm amazed to see that the "ambush in the hall" is not uncommon,Molly would do it all the time,Jenn would come out looking like she was facing the executioner nightly, though with two escape routes the issue isn't what it once was.I do find the tin foil idea interesting, but she always seems to drop her gifts in high traffic areas,we'd be stomping on it all the time.Thank God she doesn't pee, that would take this situation up a notch.
Ewe: Jennifer was originally adopted by my gf from the humane society, both our girls were.Jenn had got into a fight with a racoon and had to have some surgery,a chunk of her ear is missing, and she has some scaring around her mouth. The prior owner never bothered to pick her up(sweet guy)She had never had this issue prior to the last few years. She was pooing on our hallway carpet,so we removed it,that just led her to find another carpet. The puking is based on her habit of eating too fast(in my opinion)so maybe this is a psychological thing. She is a very loving little girl, other than this issue she has no strange quirks
Ewe: We've had blood tests done, everything.Today has been the worst, she pooped on the front door carpet, brang up on the bedroom carpet (probably due to nerves from me shooing her away as ase was pooping, and then just came out and brang up again. My other cat just shakes her head, she's never done it.I'm on the phone to the vet,but we've done that before too.I'm starting to think a shrink is our only hope
Tuesday: There's no pattern,I've exhausted every angle. It comes and goes like the seasons, and she's fixed....................well,she wasn't actually broke prior,....you get my drift
One of my girls seems to go through periods where she'll crap on the carpet. It's been going on for a few years,3 or 4 months on,4 months off.It never happened for the first 6 years of her life, every scenario has been exhausted,I'm at my wits end
wetware: Yes,I guess my point was that animals (other than humans) are free to just be themselves without constantly questioning themslves. They say our youth are the best years of our lives, why? no responsability
Ewe: I was actually taling to someone about that very thing the other day.Animals are allowed to be who they are and act as they do without being judged to be wrong,it's just them doing what they do.Humans on the other hand are not allowed that same acceptance,we constantly judge our behavior, maybe we just are what we are

Tuesday: It sadly becomes a self fulfilling prophacy.Pitbulls get a rep for being violent,so violent people start to buy them, and the well intentioned owners pay the price.
Subjekt: Re: Ontarians can't newly acquire pit bulls. Existing owners must neuter their dogs and make sure they are leashed and muzzled in public. Offenders' pit bulls must be euthanized.
anastasia: Well, maybe part of the problem lies in the type of owner attracted to owning a pitbull.Corvette buyers don't tend to drive 55,get my drift? I would be ignorant to think that there aren't a very large percentage of pitbulls that are very well tempered and trustworthy, but politicians aren't concerned with that. They see a breed that is usually the one involved if ever an attack occurs, imagine the fallout if they do nothing and someone is killed. It is the safe way to just outlaw the breed.I fully understand your perspective and love of pitbulls, but I also understand the thinking process that goes nto these types of decisions.
Subjekt: Re: Ontarians can't newly acquire pit bulls. Existing owners must neuter their dogs and make sure they are leashed and muzzled in public. Offenders' pit bulls must be euthanized.
anastasia: The problem(as I see it) is that you are in the minority of owners who responsibly supervise and care for your aggressive dogs. Many buy them for insincere purposes(much like the gun debate) and it paints the responsible owners with the same brush.I guess they figured our streets would be safer if they only allowed poodles and other less aggressive dogs to be allowed.
Ewe: I think you nailed it.The problem is in the training. The uproar in my city began when a number of children were badly maimed, and pitbull was the consistent factor in every instance.I think one child was actually killed.I'm a sucker for any dog,and I'm sure if I saw a tail wagging pitbull I'd want to play with it.
Subjekt: Re: Ontarians can't newly acquire pit bulls. Existing owners must neuter their dogs and make sure they are leashed and muzzled in public. Offenders' pit bulls must be euthanized.
anastasia: Pedophiles have been known to escape with less punishment, but I understand your point.
Subjekt: Re: Ontarians can't newly acquire pit bulls. Existing owners must neuter their dogs and make sure they are leashed and muzzled in public. Offenders' pit bulls must be euthanized.
Jason: My take,is that it covers any variation of pit bull.
A judge has upheld the constitutionality of Ontario's controversial ban on pit bulls, despite a challenge by a Toronto dog owner.
Although evidence on the danger posed by pit bulls is inconclusive, the provincial Legislature had a "reasoned apprehension of harm" when it chose to target all such dogs, Justice Thea Herman said in her judgement, released yesterday.
The Superior Court judge ruled that the means the provincial government chose to protect the public were not disproportionate and therefore not unconstitutional, as had been argued last May by lawyer Clayton Ruby, on behalf of dog owner Catherine Cochrane.
"Dog ownership is not a right," Herman said.
In the absence of conclusive data, legislators are entitled to err on the side of safety, she said.
"There is no doubt that individuals in Ontario have been seriously injured by dogs that were identified as pit bulls."
However, Herman narrowed the province's wide definition of pit bulls. She ruled it unconstitutional to include dogs that are not Staffordshire bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers or American pit bull terriers, or those substantially similar in appearance.
She also ruled it unconstitutional to declare a dog a pit bull on the basis of a document from a veterinarian, as this "offends trial fairness and the right to be presumed innocent."
Under the contested amendments to the Dog Owner's Liability Act, violators are subject to a maximum penalty of $10,000 and six months in jail.
In a news release, Ruby declared partial victory, but vowed to appeal.
"These are steps in the right direction, but they are not going far enough," Caroline Wawzonek, Ruby's co-counsel, told the Star.
But a spokesperson for Attorney General Michael Bryant stated that all but two out of 169 provisions in the amended legislation remained unaffected by the judge's decision.
Under the law, Ontarians can't newly acquire pit bulls. Existing owners must neuter their dogs and make sure they are leashed and muzzled in public. Offenders' pit bulls must be euthanized.
"People should continue to leash and muzzle their pit bulls; pit bulls are banned in Ontario, and that has been upheld by the Ontario Superior Court," Bryant told reporters.

Ewe: Yes,and I've yet to hear my girls purr at what I consider inappropriate times.............I'm not a violent person, but if I was nearby when this occured, with a 2 x 4 in hand
srnity: I agree, that's why as much as I encourage adoption,I try to steer people from giving animals as Christmas or Birthday gifts.I would rather they didn't adopt at all rather than return it like some shirt they don't want.
wetware: I think toys and especially pet food is marketed to people not animals. You look at some of the titles of some of the choices like "grilled beef" or "salmon pate" "thanksgiving dinner" "london broil" I'm not making these up,it's so silly

rod03801: I feel sorry for people who invest in elaborate toys bought at pet stores only to find their pets prefer more simple items.Another favorite is the laser pointer a friend brought them a few years back.I can sit back and let them go nuts chasing it instead of risking hip replacement surgery running around the house with a bobble attached to a string
srnity: we have a brita water jug just for them, but they prefer the toilet. The same with toys, one of my girls has about 3 bottled water boxes scattered around our living room, they don't go for store bought jungle gyms or toys.We have some pics of both of them butt up face first in the toilet,my usual refrain as I see them is "hungover again"
srnity: Both my girls drink from the toilet, that's why we flush twice. They seem to like to do it right after it's been used,I have a feeling it is more ritual based than a thirst thing
Subjekt: Re: Humans are a big problem to us mice. There are just far too many of them in my opinion. However I do have friends who say that I should live and let live.
srnity: Yeah, that's why we don't feed racoons or leave grbage outside,it'll be all over the deck by morning and they always return.I know the drill.Feral cats are usually born from other feral cats, they have never been domesticated.Strays that were previosly raised in a home environment won't last long on the streets or in the wild.Feral cats will bolt if you come too close,it takes years to gain their trust,if ever.I don't know about the poison or feed theory,we only heard them,we never saw or interacted with them.I just know they stunk when dead, and we all die,but hoefully not in my exhaust pipes I wish I could offer refuge to wild animals in my home, that's cool that you are able
Subjekt: Re: Humans are a big problem to us mice. There are just far too many of them in my opinion. However I do have friends who say that I should live and let live.
srnity: Cats are one thing, hopefully they don't invade your exhaust pipes.Mice are another story, they rarely say hello or goodbye.Even if they stay celebit and abstain from creating a family death is part of the cycle of life,it has no regard for season. It's your call, but when grandpa mouse meets his reward you'll know it,trust me
Subjekt: Re: Humans are a big problem to us mice. There are just far too many of them in my opinion. However I do have friends who say that I should live and let live.
srnity: We thought it was really cute, hearing them scury about now and again, and it gave us the warm and fuzzies feeling we were providing refuge from the cold.I guess they would need a way to get in and out. Then one day a terrible odour took over the kitchen.Mice don't pick what season they choose to expire, and if it's winter, and they are nesting in your pipes that'll be the place. It would be nice if they had more consideration, but they don't.Be forwarned, the smell is sickening
Subjekt: Re: Humans are a big problem to us mice. There are just far too many of them in my opinion. However I do have friends who say that I should live and let live.
srnity: I too had mice who lived in the exhaust of my kitchen stove area, some died, the stench was sickening not to mention the expense of removing the rotting carcases.Good luck with that
Tuesday: I once dated a vegan. She was also a hardcore activist, she would join the groups of people who sprayed the coats of people wearing fur.One night after a few drinks I was having chicken wings back at her house, she asked for one so I gave it to her.The next day you would think I had violated her in the most dasterdly way.I didn't force it on her,she asked for the

Tuesday: RIN TIN TIN never got over his bitterness of becoming second fiddle to Lassie. To this day the fan clubs hold seperate picnics far apart from eachother, old wounds die hard
Subjekt: Re: I googled to find a Lassie,Vick connection
anastasia: Yes,it would mess with my head too.The "essence" of my prior buddy would be gone anyway,so what's the point.Molly was a ferile cat prior to us adopting her,I spent many hours working with her to attain the trust level we have reached.Pet and people relationships are similar when we consider that the special nature of each of those relationships are based on day to day experiences, there are no shortcuts in reaching that place.I will say, that ever since I had to carry my boy Zeuss off the road after a tragic accident I did search for another black cat who resembled him,so Molly is a bit of a clone, but in a natural way.
Lambyless: She's only 7,let's see in 10 years or so how far it has come. She'll probably outlive me anyway, and I'm going to be stuffed and placed in my comfy livingroom chair.
