crosseyed: Great idea. In single elimination tourneys your seed number is determined by your rating. The total number of players need not be a power of 2.
The formula is: start off with 2 players. The 3rd player will play the 2nd and seed 1 will have a bye in the first round. 4th plays first. Adding a 5th will play the lowest seed, #4, and the higher 3 will get 1st round byes. Each additional seed will play the lowest seed with a bye in the 1st round until there is a power of two. the next lower seed after that will play the lowest seed and all others above will get byes for the 1st round. simple right?
Like on chess.com, there should be games where people can join one side and vote every 24 hours or so, except have one for every variant. At a certain time, the results will be tallied and the most popular move will be played.
There should be a feature where you can open a separate window specifically used for game analysis, where you can move the pieces around and see what happens looking ahead before making your move. It's already been done on gameknot.com. It would work much better with In-Game Javascript as I suggested!
thechosen0ne: This will make it much easier for mobile users, because loading the page each time you flip through or make a move will make it extremely frustrating!
As computer science student I suggest that javascript be used in games, just like on gameknot.com. This will make it a lot easier when making a move and flipping through games, because the page won't have to reload each time.
In addition to the feature of Conditional Moves, whenever there is only one possible move in a game, that move is made automatically as a conditional move, saving time and reducing redundancy. It saves the opponent one login per forced move.
Here's a variant that should be easy to implement: Anti Massacre Chess, where the rules are exactly the same as Massacre Chess except the first person unable to move wins!
