nightmagic: What do you mean by "Firefox is not complete yet"? If you mean that is changing from time to time: yes, it is a product that is constantly improved. But it is "complete" in the meaning that it is totally ready for productional use. All changes are small improvements or new features, but I don't know anything you can do with IE but not with FF. Firefox is actually a very mature browser so to speak.
nightmagic: What is Foxfire? And what is the brainking button? If it is just a button that gets you to BK - you can simply add a bookmark to your bookmark toolbar...
Binabik: Why your icon is named "vddf" - I have no idea. Try to just rename it back to "firefox", that should work ;)
I never had a problem with disappearing bookmarks, but I heard about it just this week. There is an update for both, firefox 1.5 and firefox 2.0 which should fix it.
Firefox keeps a profile for every user on your system. (It's in "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox\Profiles").
Rose: That's because IE is not a browser, but a strategical weapon. Its intent is not to give you a good internet experience. If that were the case, MS would have developed it constantly, but they didn't do anything about it when there was no threatening second browser. Its sole purpose is to be the quasi standard and to let people get used to it. It doesn't conform to any standards - if you try to develop valid in means of w3c-standards, IE will kick your a**.
It accepts a mess and renders it. That might sound good - but is actually bad. It's the main reason why more than 90% of the internet is not standards compliant! And it simply ignores a huge stack of standards, especially CSS (just consider their broken Border-Box-Model). That's why it is hard nowadays to develop both correct and successful in the meaning of reaching out to many people. If you want many people to see what you are doing, you have to consider IE. If you consider IE, your design gets broken.
Just consider you wouldn't have tested your site on FF: You would have thought, that using the "alt" tag was actually correct, and would have expected your users to see those titles. You wanted to do everything correct and cared about the user. The user also did nothing wrong. And despite it might look like FF was lowering the user's experience by simply not displaying the (intended) titles, it was acutally IE which made you think you could use alt when you had to use title.
IE is a pain in the a**. Please, everybody: Use Firefox! If you don't like Firefox, use Opera. But NEVER use the Internet Exploder. It really plainly sucks.
Is explorer running then? If it is, you can see "explorer.exer" in the list on the "processes" tab of the task manager. Also, if explorer is running, hitting WinButton+R should show the "Run" dialog.
King Reza: I know of two scenarios in which the taskbar disappears:
a) Explorer crashes b) It is hidden
If explorer crashes, it usually just restarts. and if the taskbar is hidden, it usually reappears when you move your mouse to the bottom of the desktop. You can hide/unhide the Taskbar through Start -> Setting -> Taskbar&Startmenu.
If your taskbar is not hidden, and explorer doesn't recover, go into the task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del -> Task Manager) and start explorer (click "new task" and type "explorer", then hit enter)
Summertop: I would most definitely call it a downgrade rather than an upgrade. All you get at the moment are some additional restrictions and obscure "security advantages" which are so annoying that everybody will ignore them/ turn them off after a short while. This article ("20 Things you won't like about Windows Vista" may be a good start, although I wouldn't agree on some of his statements, especially on his "OS-Ranking". It definitely shows some disadvantages from the user's viewpoint.
Anyway: I have not heard of any reason to switch to Vista except its improved look&feel (which is IMHO inferior to the look&feel of other modern OSes like MacOS or up-to-date Linux distributions) so far.

Czuch Czuckers: The first extension I install is the All-In-One-Sidebar, which gives you an opera-like sidebar where you can put not only history and bookmarks, but everything which is or might be accessible with a toolbar-icon, and load the content in this side panel. Then I install the Web Developer Extension, Forecast Fox, del.icio.us and AdBlock Plus.
Rose: I know, there are several issues with ZoneAlarm, you can't configure too much yourself and it doesn't tell you very much - just like it would be a MS app ;) I loved Sygate, very sad that #*!°~#- Symantec stopped it...

"Snoopy": I don't know a free combination of spyware/antivirus/firewall, I use avg free for antivirus and anti-spyware(http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1). As a firewall I used Sygate, but during the search for an english download page I got informed that Symantec bought Sygate and stopped serving updates, so I might consider going back to Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/trial_zaFamily/trial_zaFamily.jsp), also I didn't really like it..

Rose: The purpose of Seamonkey is to be more than a browser - it is a browser, an email client, a news reader, an irc client and a wysiwyg-html-editor in one single application. So if you look for a browser, use firefox. If you look for an email app, use thunderbird. Only if you want to have everything integrated consider using Seamonkey (not ;)).
By the way: on the project page they say that Seamonkey has tabbed browsing...
"Snoopy": You have just downloaded it, run it without installing rare extensions, and when you visit BK it crashes? And if you visit other pages it doesn't?
Rose: The only issues in upgrading might be several extensions not compatible yet. But the widely used ones already run with 2.0 - all that I use do ;)

ellieoop: I don't know if it is different on a mac. But in the pc version, you click tools->delete private data... if you click the "details" button in the upcoming dialogue, you can select which data you want to be deleted.
edit: and if you do it like you did it (i.e. click on "history" not on "delete private data"), you can click on "view" (the one just above the history table, not in the main menu) and change the view to "by time visited" - now you won't see the nondeletable folders and you can select all items with ctrl+a. Now the "delete" button should get enabled, and you can delete them all.
Marfitalu: That normally means that you have a problematic driver installed. My WLAN Module caused that over months ;) Maybe you can remove it by updating all of your drivers? (I bought myself a new WLAN card , since mine was from a cheap manufacturer with crappy drivers )
Subjekt: Re: C# serial port sends only 3F above 7F ?
Hrqls: I'm not really sure, as I never worked directly with Serial Port. But parity errors normally occur if a) there occured an error during sending and one bit was changed or b) maybe the parity bit was corrupted by your program? Maybe your connection is set to a bytelength of 7 bit and you overwrite the parity bit? Again: I don't really have a clue, but this was what came to my mind ;) Good luck in finding the solution :)
Czuch Chuckers: As BBW says, you don't need to worry about your bookmarks. Firefox keeps your settings, bookmarks, etc. in your home directory, so they won't be lost except you reinstall windows :) But another question: Do graphics on other pages load, or do you have no graphics at all? Because you can dis-/enable the loading of images in tools->options->content.

The GameList doesn't have any feed! There are only feeds for discussion boards and News! You can find the link by hovering (or clicking) the orange "RSS"-button (this one) on the top of a page. If a BK page doesn't have this icon, it doesn't have a feed. The feed for this discussion board is:
Rose: Brainking doesn't answers to icmp traffic, i.e. you can never ping it, even if it is "alive"! And I don't have problems mostly, but about every 20th attempt to make a move takes too long to wait for :)
Marfitalu: I didn't check it out yet, but there exists a workaround for such cases, the portable firefox. It doesn't put any files in the system drive, so you can install ist on a usb stick or so. It is all described here. Maybe that will help you (of course only, if you have a usb stick)
Summertop: Absolutely. From time to time my brother and I play with the same IP because we see each other and are behind the same router. You can't conclude anything from that fact!
Hrqls: Wow, I just knew it from Mac OS X, and consider it a great feature! Just installed it, and didn't make it to search new and nice ones, but I will :) Already thinking of a Brainking-Widget to tell you about new pms, posts, time left or number of moves to make etc. ;) Or new defined tournaments!
anastasia: if you view a picture on the internet you actually download it. That doesn't mean that you save it to your hard disk, but you have to transfer it to your computer to look at it. So perhaps Rose can fix the other pix for you as well?
anastasia: And if your pictures are 3MB big, that would make 5 pictures. They would propably let you (I don'z know if there are file size restrictions at geocity) but it wouldn't be very satisfying! So you better compress your pictures by converting them to png or jgp format.
anastasia: that depends on how big your pictures are. But even if you would use all your 15 MB and every visitor would look at all files, that would make 200! As you want to use it for private purpose only that should be enough ;)
Fencer: Yes, but that's "lazy spoken". Infact GiB would be correct. In original, 1024 bytes were stated one kilobyte because it is very close to 1000 and computers make it reasonable to think in powers of two instead of 10. But that is incorrect according to the BPMI, because the prefix kilo means 1000. So the compromise was made that 1024 would be called a binary kilobyte, short: kibibyte or KiB. The same applies for Megabyte/Mebibyte, Gigabyte/Gigibyte, Terrabyte/Tebibyte, etc.. But very few people use it correctly.
By the way: the 1.44MB floppy disk has 14400 kibibyte, which is 1.47 megabyte or 1.40 mebibyte.
