Subjekt: Re: I'll take Babe Ruth/ And for home run records
Walter Montego: I'm thinking Alex Rodriguez might be closing in in ten or less years. Ruth held the record a long time. Aaron what, 33 years? Let's see how long Bonds keeps it. There's one record I didn't think would ever be broken, and Bonds did it. He broke the professional baseball season record for home runs. It was 72, set in the 30's I believe. Yes, in the minor leagues, but still 72. Somehow Bonds hit 73 homeruns in one season in the Major Leagues. I still have trouble believing it was done. Does anyone know what the professional baseball record for home runs is? Counting all pro leagues? For the league and also for an indidvidual player adding all of his pro league home runs together? Did the Japanese player, I think named Oh have over 800? Did Bonds hit any in the minor leagues?
After all, he got his 714 home runs in a lot less at bats than either of those guys. At one time Ruth was more than 300 home runs ahead of the second place guy. And Babe Ruth was a pitcher for most of his career with the Red Sox. Some of his pitching records (Yes, even in the World Series on the Red Sox, remember it was them that traded him to the the Yankees and began the Curse) held for a long time too. Bonds wasn't the first guy to be intentionally walked with the bases loaded. Ruth also would pitch and not bat ninth in the order either sometimes.
Willie Mays was the best all around player in my opinion. Hank was great , but Willie was a great fielder , baserunner and played in ballparks that were much harder to hit HR's then Hank and still hit 660 of them...it's a shame he's associated with Barry, by being his godfather...not much class has seemed to rub off on Barry...

Tuesday: Bonds does, and that's everybody he's concerned about. What's amazing is the light this shines on the greatness of Hank Aaron. Even without steroids, Bonds was a great player. But Hank was in a class by himself.
Well 2 trophys for the young Arsenal side as they get ready to take on the BIG 3 again in the pemiership starting next week. All i can say is Go Go Arsenal, Good Luck Lads
Emirates Cup
Robin van Persie's brilliant winner saw Arsenal beat Inter Milan and lift the pre-season Emirates Cup.
Van Persie tricked his way into space to drill a powerful shot past the Serie A champions' keeper Francesco Toldo.
Despite dominating for long spells Arsenal fell behind to a well-placed header from Inter's Honduras striker David Suazo.
Arsenal drew level when Alexander Hleb reacted to drill home the loose ball after Toldo saved his initial effort.
For long periods, it looked as though Arsenal had found no solution to their lack of cutting edge from last season.
Some of the Gunners' approach play and passing was exquisite, but they failed to carve out many chances against a stubborn Inter defence.
Hleb and van Persie were invariably involved in the chances they did create.
Hleb's delightful dummy set up van Persie in the first half but keeper Julio Cezar stretched to save and the Dutch striker drew another fine save from the Brazilian keeper.
Amsterdam Tournament
Arsenal scooped their second tournament trophy of the week with a battling 1-0 victory over Ajax on Saturday night.
Arsène Wenger's side had won the Emirates Cup last Sunday thanks to a late strike from Robin van Persie. It was a case of double Dutch this evening as the striker finished off a marauding run from Gael Clichy three minutes from time to win the Amsterdam Tournament.
The victory was deserved. Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg had been by far the busier keeper, saving point-blank from Kolo Toure and Van Persie during a lively 90 minutes.
Of course, pre-season form will count for nothing when the campaign starts properly at the weekend. However, in the past eight days Arsenal's young side have strung together wins over PSG, Inter, Lazio and now Ajax.
Oceans Apart: Yes, he did great , i do feel sorry for Garcia though, he was leading for so long and playing so well. That first play off hole lost it for him
Good Luck to Amir Khan as he tries to get the Commonwealth Lightweight Title from Scotland's Willie Limond. Also, our local Michael Sprott takes on Matt Skelton for the Commonwealth Heavyweight Title

Well Done Tim Henman, finished his first round match from yesterday on center court. Won 3 - 2 in sets (13-11 in the last), great stuff as he has had such a bad year (need a Tennis smiley for Wimbledon)
MadMonkey: I was surprised to here that Ricky Hatton is live and exclusive on Setanta Sports for his big fight on the 23rd. I thought SKY would make this a pay-per-view fight.
