Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
Pedro Martínez: I am used to be accused of even worse things here. It's a pity that some people are too selfish to see things from a global point of view.
crosseyed: If it is boring, than no other response would be useful to you. The purpose of blog posts is to summarize all important information at one place, so smart people could easily find everything there, while lazy people just keep asking one by one. If you call it "too much crap", you can hardly expect any further help from me.
jouer: There is a Host Tracker link at the top of this page, which is recommended to use if someone has connection issues with BrainKing. It works for any other sites too and now it shows "Connection refused" error from all worldwide nodes. It means that pente.org is down and everyone has the same issue.
rabbitoid: Exactly what is says. It is possible to turn it off on Settings / Calendar page (and since there is no calendar any more, the option will be moved to Settings / General soon).
Konu: Re: "Go to next game of similar type" button
El Cid: There will be 13 groups and 11 subgroups of game types in the next BrainKing version, so I guess the "go to next" action should be a little more meaningful.
Mélusine: I see. It seems the code is not automatically loaded and it works for me only because I use the Chat Box (that loads all smileys as well). Should be fixed soon.
coan.net: It could be done. Until then, you can use the "show this user's messages" filter to list (and delete) all messages from the particular user. Or if you want to clear ALL system messages from your message box, just let me know and I will do it in the database, it should be much faster.
MadMonkey: Messages and events cannot be mixed because their internal structure is not mutually compatible. I would have to write a script that converts old system messages (from Message Box) to current Events but I am not sure if it is worth the effort. You can still archive tournament results in your Message Box and keep new system events in the Events page. Unless you want to do a yearly statistics, it should not be a big problem.
Anyway, I can create folders for Events, it won't be a big problem.
Bernice: It's not our fault that you don't take serious answers seriously. Most likely because your point of view is too selfish to see it a little globally.
Anyway, I give you an explanation. The purpose of Host Tracker is not to measure a connection speed from every single country of the world, but to find out if a temporary speed issue is caused by BrainKing itself (all nodes would show a big latency) or your local ISP/computer/router/network/anything (all but 1 or 2 nodes are performing good). Even you should be able to understand that it would be hardly possible to perform a speed or throughput benchmark from everywhere, so whether the test lists Australia or not is pointless. The global result is the only thing that counts.
aaru: Right, that's a bug. Not a big one. No, it's not possible to transfer messages, at least not now. Maybe later. The problem is that the internal structure is too different from the former one, so I would have to write a converting script first.
Bwild: Of course it does. Please note that new version of Google Analytics is asynchronous, so even if their script is slow, it does not affect BrainKing page loading speed (as it used to do in the past).
Mousetrap: Sounds like a temporary local DNS lookup failure (local = at your place). If it happens again, try to use IP address instead - http://81.91.83.6
Bwild: Sounds like "Yes, I am a loser and I cannot stand anyone else being successful" sort of whining to me. Well, if it makes you happy, carry on.
Everybody else: I don't take ponds as serious games and, honestly, I really don't care if people make some agreements while playing. Actually, I was thinking of making some improvements of the pond system and even started to work on it. However, I don't give it a shit now. You can thank Bwild and his ability to be such a nice person.
