BerniceC: Sorry, let me try to explain what I meant before a little better...
When you click on a link from a discussion board, hold down the option key (or whatever the proper key is), so that the link you've just clicked on opens in a new window (like having the target="_blank" tag, even when there isn't one). Won't that solve the problem you have?
BerniceC: Option-click on links like that so that your window with the DB discussion on it stays intact. Then you don't need to go back, just close the other window when you're done and you'll be right where you left off.
It would be great to see more than one board in separate frames. I have thought of making a fellowship for story tag (kinda like Nirvana's Stories board), but I would want one for the story itself and a separate one for people's comments (like "LOL at that last line!!", etc.) or if I wanted to delete or change a line of the story. I could put an explanation as to why somethng was done and it could be seen in the second frame right next to the corresponding part of the story in the other frame.
Fencer: I'm trying to hlep a friend improve his pente play. I want to set up a whole bunch of games (a 10 points match), played one at a time, where I'm always player 2, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
How do I set up a series of 10 games against an opponent where I am black in all the games? I don't want to play them all at once, I want them to all occur one after another, but when I do that, the colors change each time.
Some very good players are pawns. For whatever reason, they choose not to become Knights or Rooks, but having them on the charts is very important. We all want to see how we rank against **everybody**, especially the best players, whether they are pawns or not.

Hey, you're right. I have 18 days left for this year, but when I switched the calendar to Jan '05, it said I have 30 days! I love little features of BrainKing like that!! I don't know what Radiant's problem was. Hope I didn't steer anyone in the wrong direction.
Because he has used his for this year. He wants to use the new ones he will get Jan 1. They are not available yet, but will be when the new year starts. He will not be here though to set them up and wants to do that now. probably best to send a message to Fencer and tell him of your dilema.
Truthfully? Because they are Espionage games and I need to go thru and figure out what pieces my opponents have left and what have been captured. I wish there were a captured pieces section, but this is opening up another can of worms that probably belongs on Feature Requests or the Espionage board.
Some are simply bothered by games that take 'too long'. I personally am bothered when the game moves so slowly that I can't recall what my plan of attack was when I made my last move, especially when the game is at a critical stage. I'm sure other rooks can add more reasons.
Auto-vacation abuse DOES bother many rooks. You keep saying that it doesn't. I don't want to repeat myself, so please scroll down a bit to my post about it earlier today.
It's not so new that we can't see that there are problems with it. And why should we wait before we discuss possible changes/improvements? Espionage is newer here than auto-vacation, but we CLEARLY need a captured pieces section. Should we wait before we suggest that too? ;-)
True, harley, but usually, in a game delayed by auto-vacation abuse, you don't know that you need to leave yourself a note until long after you made the move.
When a player starts taking very long between turns of a game that is at a critical juncture, it can be VERY annoying. In chess, for example, most moves are not individual moves, but part of a sequence of moves. If you have to try and remember what you were planning a week or two ago, it takes all the fun out of game playing, at least for me. Multiply that by a few games and the slow play starts to suck all the fun out of BrainKing.
Well, then you either enjoyed using most of your accrued vacation in December, or just joined and probably don't have that many games going anyway and can plan accordingly in either event.
(asked in a friendly way) Why wouldn't it be fair? True, it favors players who have been here the longest, but if it treats everyone the same, it's fair. Plus, in your example, you'd know far in advance that you were going away July, so you could plan games you start in May/June accordingly. No harm done.
Many people accrue vacation days over time at their jobs. They don't start out with the full allotment of days. If vacation time were handled that way here, it would be much better. Perhaps give out 3 vacation days each month. It wouldn't solve every case of abuse, but it would reduce and/or eliminate many of them and I don't see how it would create any new ones.

Anti Chess is another game that has forced moves sometimes. In fact, it often ends with a string of moves like that. I think it would be difficult for Fencer to program like that because some games would be in-progress and over at the same time.
I have a waiting game of Open Pente, but I don't see it on the Waiting Games page. Is it normal to not see ones own games? It does appear on my Main page.
