CleverHunk :) too clever, too good looking, (LOL) and dead right in your post below :)
Where do you get these ideas....would love to play you but....im a reversi person, anti or mormal...my intelligence only goes that far ROFLMBO...(((HUGS)) tho and *win* *win*
..well,good or bad.a few more creative ideas about game variations.what do you think?
halma 10X10 variation#1:
"frozen halma"
when an opponents ball(s) are jumped they change color indicating they are "frozen".they cannot move on the players next turn.after which they return to normal.
halma 10X10 variation#2:
"back halma"
when an opponents ball(s) are jumped they are returned to the players starting field.
heres the situation as i see it:
bad timing this is a great site, just a few bugs to work out.name ONE site immune to this.
we understand your frustration, but thank god for fencer tinkering,he fixes things/add improvements fast.better than "absentee landlords"programmers.
can you dig it daddio?
I think you need to seriously need to consider developing some good karma & a trace of patience.
it helps in many thing in life, especially with the fair sex.
no offence intended, just lighten up a little, wound too tight.
I dont want to be rude MKATRIS...but the site does belong to Fencer and if he wants to tinkle with it that is his business.
He is so fair to everyone, and fixes things ASAP...I think we ALL can put up with a bit of inconvenience occasionally.
Big round of applause for FENCER *clap* *clap* *clap*
to clarify what I meant,the idea was to invite a non-member to a specific game,of course via signing up.people get game site invites,but if the inviter knows a game that the invited person likes,it might be more alluring.just an idea...its up 2 u.I know u r busy. /8^}
Okay but if the invited person is not registered on BK, he must create his account first and then find the game invitation. Maybe what CleverHunk wants is to redirect this new user to the game invitation instead of the main page, right?
Fencer, the send invitation page offers the person an invite to the site, where CleverHunks idea would be inviting a person to a specific game, which might be more appealing!
Hope I got that right, CleverHunk?!
...all those times that we have complimented fencer for his speed getting things done.because of this,I feel we dont have to"let-him-know"about problems.I am sure he all too aware & is working on it.a positive approach might be to help.
a proper feedback is better than duplicate complaints, as I assume too ... :")
since about one week the main slowdown starts 20.00 h CET - a time
when early american clockout and european evening's settle-down meet ...
the inflicted higher traffic also seems to be a part of the problem.
merry bug-hunting to our czech coders ! Feeling with you ... :) book'em Fencer ! ~*~
That is so true harley.
I know fencer is working very hard to get the problems sorted & is exhausted right now.
He has achieved so much already in such short time & deserves a well needed rest so lets give him at least a week to recover shall we..
Quite right Dmitri, Fencer is here almost as much as me(!) and he's aware of the problems and working flat out to sort them. Of course he needs to know what problems we're having before he can sort them, but for problems that everyone is having, it is a bit pointless us all complaining about the same thing. Its just taking up his time having to read through all the complaints.
Fencer has about 80 games going, and most of them were his opponent's turn to move last time I checked. This indicates to me that he makes his moves fairly regularly, and he probably knows when the site si running slowly. I could be wrong, but I am not sure it three is any opint in people's writing here every time three is slowness. It seems thel ast few dozen messages have been almost identical-- "The site is slow" with some extra stuff added on to each one. Maybe there should be a separate "the site is slow" messageboard, because eventually people will stop bothering to read this board if every post is about the site being slow.
Alot of us are frusterated with the slowness but I do believe Fencer is aware of it and trying his best to fix the problems we are all getting here.. Hopefully every one can find some patience while he tries his best to see what can be done.
is this site ever going to be running right again. white screens, BK is too busy right now, can't use that kind of info, slowness, can't move a certain piece.....this is going on 5 days, since last Thurs. evening, right on thru this morning, it is the same old s___. PLEASE REPAIR IT!!!
I switched my time zone to Alaska's and now it's on the right time. I imagine I'll be putting it on Pacific Daylight Savings Time come Sunday morning, eh?
Scientists have managed to train rats to play chess by implanting microships in their brain that interface with a new chess program called Brutus. It looks like one of the would get a provisional rating of around 1200.
See www.chessbase.com and then go to the story on Brutus for details.
For me, the solution will be to wait until next weekend when we go on daylight savings time, then my clock will be right again.
For Kevin in Saskatchewan, I'm not sure what the solution is. Maybe he'll have to set his clock to a different time zone to make it correct.
How's that for being analytical?
Web TV is not the only place that white screens occur. I use IE6, but when I click on any of the three 'move' buttons, I get a white screen and have to go back to my e-mail to click on the link to take me to the home page of brainking in order to play my next game. I have yet to see an answer addressing this issue! It's a nuisance and a time waster. I would just like to know: is it or can it be fixed eventually, or not? And I notice other messages from people wanting to know the same thing. ty!
In my checker game with Nurse Ratchett (50386) I am unable to move piece 4F although it is a legal move. Any of my other pieces can move fine. The site will not even let me hilite it with my cursor. Any help?
probs are being fixed I C..thought it would help to know.on webtv,I am not able to acesss 1 game at all.the others when I enter move..i get error message"webtv can not handle that type of information" on a blank whitescreen.never had a prob B4 ever wth BK.this message I usually gets if you are trying to download something, which of course webtv cant do.re-freshing sometime helps,I am finding.
Konu: fencer..another original backgammon variation idea I just had...
..could be based on crowded backgammon.
reducing your count to zero or increasing our opponents count by bumpimg blots to the bar is the obvious key to backgammon.
thus the strategy of the games axis' is based on hitting blots.so why not a variation that make use of this directly.
the idea then:
crowded backgammon, but the extra blots are not on the bar.they are"beside the board".one of thes blots can only be put on the bar when you hit an opponents blot.at this time one of your off board blots & the opponents blot go to the bar.thus you are "rewarded" for hitting a blot & get yout blots into the game faster.this could be a very interesting game.what do you & everyone think, fencer?
as for a name?mmmm
Seems OK here. Clocks in England went forward an hour yesterday, so in theory we are in British Summer Time now rather than GMT. My settings say GMT, yet time is perfectly correct to take into account the clocks going forward last night.
Maybe everyone else has been put forward an hour too?
Hey Fencer, the clock seems to be messed up... the current time is 19:42, but it says 20:42... I checked and my time zone is still set correctly. Just thought you would want to know.
Just a quick note - if I don't answer to all e-mails reporting the current problems, it's because I am trying to fix them. As Dmitri wrote, each site has problems, occasionally.
Good news are that the problem is not permanent and we are slowly getting it under control.
