furbster: you are correct .... hereby i congratulate my future opponents in those tournaments with their wins .... maybe if i come back online when the games are active i might give up .... but not sure when that might be ....
sorry for the delay, but i think i am not the only one like that in those tournaments
bug can be fixed quite easily smetimes if you know how the situations can be reproduced dealing with cheaters needs an almost continuous monitoring and mostly by a human as cheaters are often more clever than the system (or copycats of someone else who was clever)
which games do you like best ? i thnk brainking was mainly focused on chess and its variants in the beginning but i could be wrong dailygammon is the best backgammon site imho jijbent.nl (and its englsh and german version) are like brainking butless chess orientated ... jijbent.nl has a very strong line-game player base for example the other sites i dont know that well ... i joined a few more but left those quite fast for various of reasons
MadMonkey: create a new one indeed! i did as well .... but appreaently i used the same username and same password .. so now my profile says i joined the site at a certain date (my new account) byt it also links to tournaments i played before my joining date (from my old account) :-)
a new account is all fun ... you can build new stats and discover old new games again :-)
mal4inara: then switch to another site ... i am also playing on jijbent.nl which i like a lot its actually quite fun to rebuild new stats on a new account on a new site :-)
mal4inara: that is indeed a problem ... the problem is fencer is the only one who can do something about it, and he has stated some years ago that this is no longer maintained.
Some say he should have closed the site completely to prevent these kind of problems, but he was kind enough to let the site running with the side remark that it is no longer maintained with all consquences
the only other "solution" for cheaters is to contact them directly and maybe talk sense into them
or you could start a witchhunt, making the site a real total mess for anyone who is still having fun playing their normal games
personally i couldnt care less to the amount other people have or wether they are cheating or not .. let them have their false fun by their false virtual ranks and virtual brains .. as long as i can play my normal games and have fun with the people i play with and who i know to be honest i am ok .. but thats just me personally :-)
Nice works: i am sorry it hought me being disprespectful, that was not my intention and i dont think you were being disrespectful either .. i just wanted to point out that brains cannot be used anymore for anything which is connected to real money
brains allows you to enter specific tournaments though
if you have any suspicions about anyone being cheating, or want to accuse someone, you can best send a direct message to fencer
fencer is the only one who can do anything about it by either blocking or banning that player
posting accusations on a public board like this might just cause a witchhunt which is not what this board is for
Bernice: i which way was i "not nice" ? i thought he was referring to the use of brains for buying memberships ... which isnt possible anymore ... so they arent worth any real-money anymore
you can still use them to enter tournaments though which i didnt think of .. so without brains you are excluded from tournaments which gives people with (unjustly) brains an access to tournaments which others dont have
Nice works: ok that is true, you can enter tournaments with them ... i thought you were referring for their use to buy memberships with as you could in the past .. luckily that cannot be done anymore as that would give brains a real-money-value ... but you can indeed still enter tournament with them ..
is this the same person to which you are referring in your profile, who is playing 2 accounts and making them play eachother?
then you should send a pm to fencer so he might block/ban/... those accounts as that is definetly cheating

this site isnt perfect but, in my opinion it offers the best with the least bugs/glitches
this site is especially great for chess types and its many variants
its a problem though that its becoming less active, which causes people to leave, making it even less active
persoanlly i loved this site, and it was definetly my #1 although for backgammong alone dailygammon is slightly better
personally i have achieved most of what i wanted on this siite, so far, and dont see any progress in the unachieved goals .... plus i wanted to play other games on a more active site, so i moved on to jijbent which is the dutch version of yourturnmyturn
if anyone doesnt like playing on this site anymore, i suggest them to move on to another site .... if they still do want to play on this site, then try to make it work better by motivating other players in a positive way
Doris: crossed mary didnt mention that it was for a rook membership so i assumed th 10 days was according to the membership description and the she just complained about 10 being too little
Crosseyed Mary: 10 vacation days .. plus the weekend days you can even switch the weekend days so they fit you best, and change them once in a while so you will have to use less vacation days
ketchuplover: lol ... i like that ... but i guess that would scare quite some people away from a paid membership and increase the likelyhood of cheating
Carpe Diem: i thought this rule was encforced by brainking?
i think the important point is : "all his checkers onto the one point behind player's prime" so it's not about you being blocked, but all your checkers have to be on the 1 single point directly behind the block ... all stacked into 1 big pile
i even think that the rule doesnt apply when you have 1 piece beyond the block, and all your other pieces directly behind the block
Konu: Re: Thousands of games and years to play one round of a tourney
pB: i agree that the time per move is a bit vague with the option of weekend days and vacation days added ... if you really want to be naughty you can even switch your weekend days while playing giving you 2 extra days once in a while ... just to frustrate your opponent :-)
about players knowing what they signed up for ... maybe they didnt know at first ... but i believe people learn from experience .. or at least i hope so ... and after some tournaments which are too slow for their taste they will think twice before joining a tournament which might be slow
due to a busy real life i am retiring on this site, and also on dailygammon, just finishing my running games/tournaments ... which migh take years, but i cant stand to lose on timeout :-) i am only playing now on jijbent.nl (i think the english version is yourturnmyturn.com ?) i think there the default for tournaments is 1 day per move, and a max 6 day pool even then tournaments can take quite long
you are/were quite active on dailygammon as well .. what do you think of the timecontrols there ?
out of curiousity : about how many players are we talking who "abuse" the time control on this site ?
if i have an opponent who plays too slow according to my taste (rarely happens, but sometimes it does just before i go on vacation) ... i then send him a polite private message asking him if he could move in my games first
if an opponent sends me a message asking me to move faster, i then make sure i always move first in his/her games before i move in the others
about the speed rating per player: i suggested this years ago as well as i think its very useful and very informative .. but you have to take into account the different game types .. an average speed would make less sense that an average speed per game type
Konu: Re: Thousands of games and years to play one round of a tourney
playBunny: there are also people with busy lives who don't have hundreds or thousands of games going on
those players can also make their moves within the time limits, but maybe too slow for others
i understand your point about pawns not knowing what they signep up for, and i also can go along with you for the prize tournaments
but for all the other tournaments, which is the most complaining about, the players do (or should) know what they signed up for, and specifically: they had the chance to join other tournaments with a time limit that better suits their taste, or create their own tournaments with their own time limit
for prize tournaments: the creator has chose the time limit for a specific reason

s3v3n: :-( he was a very good line (connect4 and connect6) player as well ... my favourite opponent, had some great games with him, and a very friendly player
my condolences tg everyone who knew him, and strength to his family
Konu: Carnie: your opponent timed out, so it wasn't your turn
Hrqls (1. Kasım 2017, 07:48:21) tarafından düzenlendi
Carpe Diem: I see Carnie won the game and the opponent timed out which shows that it wasn't Carnies turn but the opponents. so the game history was right :-)
Carnie congrats on your win
about the bully subject you addressed aside : i don't see much bullying lately .. and if it does please let me (or another mod) know and we will take care of it
people are not leaving this site because of bullies (afaik) but because the site isn't managed anymore .. the owner (Fencer) has stated that he doesn't have time for it anymore and has other priorities. He is kind enough to let the site running so we can still play though
Mélusine: the brainking app for android doesnt support all game types as far as i remember .. you can play some games with it, and that works quite well
for the other games o0n brainking you have to use your phone browser, which works ok as well
Fencer: thanks for the platform you provide for us to play our beloved games, and learn the games we didnt know yet :-)
I had a great time here for quite some years ... but for everything comes an end ... life changes, work changes, everything changes .... the only time when nothing changes anymore is when you are dead .. and thats still far away i hope :-)
thanks for the effort and time and dedication you put into this site ... far more work and time than most people realize .. but i still do hope someone is willing to take it over from you
Brian1971: i dont renew to support the site .. i do renew to have fun, i like to have enough games going, playing in a fellowship, and join more than 1 tournament .. i renew for myself :-)
its solved! i didnt see i had keryo pente selected in my filter, and i didnt expected the filter from a pevious session to be remembered in my current session
(sakla) If you want to find an opponent with similar playing skills to your own look in the Ratings page of the type of game you want and find a player with a similar BKR. (pauloaguia) (Bütün ipuçlarını göster)
