President Obama when giving a speech at Georgetown University, a Catholic institution, had all images and symbols of Jesus Christ covered so as not to show up in his video frame.
"In coordinating the logistical arrangements for yesterday's event, Georgetown honored the White House staff's request to cover all of the Georgetown University signage and symbols behind Gaston Hall stage," Julie Green Bataille, associate vice president for communications at Georgetown, told CNSNews.com."
In Afghanistan last year, Christian U.S. Army troops engaged in proselytizing the Afghan people by attempting to hand out Bibles written in their native language. The soldiers were stopped, and the copies of the Bible were burned. According to Politico:
Christian Broadcasting's David Brody says "the Bibles were burned because the rules on the base say that all garbage is burned at the end of the day. But just asking here; if the U.S. Military seized a stack full of Korans, would they be burned? You think that might cause a little outrage in the Muslim world?"
So, everyone, please shut up about the Quran-burning religious nuts at that ridiculous church (who at least don't behead or imprison people of other faiths for not being of their own). The freedom to be insensitive to others is part and parcel of freedom of speech. It's no different when talking about building mosques at Ground Zero; burning American flags; or whatever. Feel free to protest and even despise what you don't approve of.
Personally, I am far less offended by their insensitivity than I am by the flag-burning, America-hating subset of the political left (who believe in free speech for themselves and their special interests; but not for you if you disagree with them). In fact, they will defend to the death their right to keep you silent.
Or, to model himself after one specific clueless leftist moron, perhaps Terry Jones could just put the Quran in the dirt somewhere and stomp on it? [link]
"Job growth between 2000 and 2008 was slower than it had been in any economic expansion since World War II -– slower than it’s been over the last year. The wages and incomes of middle-class families kept falling while the cost of everything from tuition to health care kept on going up. Folks were forced to put more debt on their credit cards and borrow against homes that many couldn’t afford to buy in the first place. And meanwhile, a failure to pay for two wars and two tax cuts for the wealthy helped turn a record surplus into a record deficit"

Bernice: There is in the telling of history and of current events, something called being satirical .. from "satire"
Satire is primarily a literary genre or form, although in practice it can also be found in the graphic and performing arts. In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself, into improvement.[1] Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon.
Blame the BBC and their wonderful programs such as "QI" and "Have I got news for you".. I'd like to also thank C4, ITV.

Bernice: How many members are there in that church? 50? I suggest protestors set up a printing press nearby, and for every Koran burned, print two more.
According to the news the powers that be can't do anything about this Pastor burning the Koran.....I would lay money on - if he was burning the American flag they would soon do something about it. Why antagonise the Muslims - aren't they doing enough to make people miserable without making it worse?

A radio commentator here said the following, in a rather sarcastic tone:
"Since when has anything bad happened when people decide it is OK to burn books."
If the idiots in Florida go ahead, the following will happen:
1. Moslems in many countries will make big bonfires and burn copies of the New Testament.
2. There will be massive protests in Islamic countries, and they will put a price on the head of that pastor, just like they did with Salman Rushdie.
3. Al Qaida will come out and say "we told you so", referring to how "American imperialists hate Islam".
3. There will be an increase in terrorist attacks against both military and civilian targets both in the Middle East and elsewhere.
In the mantime that pastor will get more people into his church, which means more notoriety and more money for him. I doubt that his motives are fuelled by a "Christian" sentiment, or any real sense of loss after the tragedy of 911.
I wonder how Christian would feel if somebody did the same with the Bible. Say, a bunch of Communists decided to commemorate the birth of Karl Marx by burning the New Testament. The man who is trying to burn the Koran is either too selfish and too stupid to even realize what he is doing, or he is too destructive and wants to provoke Moslems.

Bwild: A new system of generating green power has just been announced in the UK. It's a form of wave where salt water is pumped into a reservoir which allows it to be used in a hydro electric means.
.. A new type of nanotec for solar which makes them self repairing. Also that soon we might be able to top up batteries with a sugary liquid.
when clinton was pres...they had bin laden in the crosshairs, but because laden was with arab emissaries,,he didnt order to execute ....should we blame 911 on clinton?
Konu: American church plans will kill soldiers ....
.. but the pastor does not care.
A small minority church in the USA plans to burn 200 Qur'ans on the anniversary of 9/11 in a stand against Islam. The top US commander in Afghanistan warned troops' lives would be in danger if the Dove World Outreach Center in Florida went ahead.
... I think the church with only an attendance of about 50 wants to boost it's congregation through this action...... sad.
