The icons might vary depending on the type of game won or the cup image could include the icon. There could be a different icon for each group of games.
Achievements related to Brainking-wide tournaments could be added.
talen314: I like that idea. To build on it a little:
Maybe starting in January 2010 - have a tournament of 1 game time (Backgammon, most popular) - then each month start a new one of the next most popular game. (so by October we will be through the top 10 games.)
I would like to see a simi-shorter time limit of maybe 2 days, 12 hours - but with standard vacations. (Maybe just a standard 3 days?)
I would also like to see the games not count towards a users game/tournament limit, so it would be open to ALL pawns & knights no matter if they have "free" game slots.
And like you mention, don't even really have to offer a prize, but maybe a special icon or something, like a "brainking cup" like you mentioned.
I would like to see Brainking Championships, at least for the most played games, sponsored by Brainking itself which might attract more widespread entry by players. Perhaps a "Brainking Cup" icon or something similar could be made that would appear on the players page attesting to the player's victory in a championship tournament.
Konu: Re: Ties in final round of single elimination
troydaniels: From what i can see the Tournament is a Single Elimination, so only ONE game will be played win, lose or draw. In the event of a draw the player with the lower BKR is classed as the winner
I just finished a single elimination tournament (http://brainking.com/en/Tournaments?tri=510738), where the game in the final round was a tie. I received a message saying that I finished second and looking at the tournament page, the other player is listed as a the winner. Is there some reason that we didn't both win or play a second game?
I'm pretty sure the tournament was a fellowship tournament, so the link might not work for everyone.
Chaos: Well I haven't done that for awhile (SO PLEASE - Anyone feel free to correct me.)
But I believe in the process of paying for the membership, there was an option to do it automaticly or manually (manually is where Fencer would look at it and apply it.)
If you do it manually & then in the notes of the membership let it be known what your wishes are (AKA: Prize for this tournament: XXXXXXXX with link or tournament #), then Fencer can process the payment manually and apply it towards the tournament.
Again, maybe there is a different way? It's been awhile, and the last time I purchased something was using PayPal - not sure if the new methods are different or not.
Hi all, I am creating a prize tournament (no entrance fee), and it says <span>The prize for this tournament has not been provided yet. It won't be started.</font> How can I do this? If I go to paid membership I can only pay for a membership for myself.
With the holiday season and all its rapid pace, I just want to take a little time and wish all good luck and good Pente. Brf, I'm trying to set aside some time to get down to Oregon and would love to meet you and try some homebrew and a little real board gaming.

Hi BabyGirlle! Thanks for the reply.... i did go to edit, the only thing that lets me edit is the tourney description. Start immediately option is no where to be found.
Whats more strange is, those 2 tourneys were create at the very same time with the "start immediately when max is reached". I can't figure out why the first one started properly but not the second! Its not like i created them at 2 separate times....
Babe68: I looked at your tourny and it shows open but has no start date posted. The only thing I could recommend would be to click edit and put a start date or just stop it and make another.
Thank you! I did try that.... but no such luck The only thing i can edit is the description of the tourney. No where is the option to click when max is reached.
I did write Fencer again, he did respond yesterday and said he would look into it... but its still not started so idk whats going on with it!
I guess i could just create another and send the people that joined a message and ask them to join the new one. I'll be patient and give it another day or 2 and see what happens! I appreciate your trying to help though

Babe68: You can also click Edit on the tournament (near top), and believe you can double check to make sure the "start when full" option is checked.... and check it if it is not checked.
Of course with one started & finished, and the other not even started - probable not the issue, but worth a look at least.
Babe68:He's probably sleeping or just getting up. I'm guessing but your tourney will start at the deadline you set unless you clicked the box to start right away if the tourney gets full. I think that's probably it.
I am a member of the espionage league and we are currently going to be having a new player tournament and each member of the espionage league is going to be tutoring a new player. If there is any interest please go to the espionage page or message me your interest in entering the tournament. or if you want me to mentor you specifically let me know. Each player will have 1 mentor and i would only be able to mentor one player. There will also be a prize of a 1 year rook prize for the winner.
This is a special tournament type for backgammon games (and variants) only. The section system is the same as for round robin tournaments - everybody plays one game with every other player of the same section - but the backgammon scoring rules are used to determine the number of points to the game winners:
* 0 points for a loss * 1 point for a normal win * 3 points for a gammon win * 5 points for a backgammon win
Please see the backgammon rules page for the gammon and backgammon explanations.
(sakla) If you click on a person's name and then click Finished games you will have a list of games that have been completed, then click on the name of the game to get a summary of all of these games, then click on the name of the game again and you will have a game to view and analyze.
