Harley, what I mean are those tourneys I've signed up for and they are still to be started. I need to know how many games I'm letting myself in for. As far as I can see, they don't show separately on my profile.
At the gamesite Gameknot (just for chess), there are leagues, with promotions and demotions. League players must accept challenges when they drop below 10 current games; the system works well. If you don't want a high-rated player to challenge you, then you go out and challenge someone with a rating close to your own.
Let's go with this! A top player has to start a pair of games of his own OR accept a top 5 player's challenge, within two weeks. That should keep the top guys honest! It won't really affect players with lower ratings.
Please could you show what opponents' pieces are threatened, etc., immediately we make a proposed move. Then we may update Notes, before submitting that move.
I thought about asking for this - but I quite like seeing when I can't make a move. Otherwise, you suddenly see a board that is totally different from when you last left it! It doesn't make an awful lot of difference to that guy that can move, except speed the game up.
I agree that I can get my outcome by offering 2 games, individual but I have to play both at the same time. That doesn't worry me, because I have unlimited games - but a load of Brain Pawns cannot cope with 2 games at once. I could start with a Black - but then, in my experience, the opponent refuses to play me with White!!
If I get a draw from a 2 game match with a higher rated player, then should I not be rewarded? That's what happens in single games?
I agree that the point of the 2 game matches is one of each colour. However, surely there should be some ratings movement if there is a big difference in the opponents' ratings. Also, if one opponent scores two wins, the rating increases as though he/she had scored only one win. Do you get what i mean? Nice to hear from you.
I like these matches, because of the automatic 2nd invite, which means we play with opposite colours. Also, we only get to play one of the 2 games at a time.
However, an increasing number of players want
1) each game to be seperately rated;
2) both games to show in their stats.
Could this be done?
What determines which 'next' game comes up? I ask, because if an opponent is on-line and playing, his/her game seems to come up next, when they make their move. I think I would prefer it if that game went to the end of the list.
I know that it is fair and just not to get any increase in yr rating, if the other player is too far below. But wouldn't just 1 point be reasonable? Just for the effort of playing an unrated player; after all they have to start somewhere.
Following on from Kevin's 'no move bounce back request', please would you consider conditional moves. For example, in Five Line, your opponent may have to stop a four and you could say 'If (the square where he needs to put his piece), then ...' I appreciate that this would be horribly difficult but it would speed up games enormously.
If I look at my own finished games, I can see the number of moves we made (last column). However, If I look at someone else's finished games, the last column shows the time limit (i.e. 1 day). Could that be changed to numbers of moves, please?
