Do you miss something on BrainKing.com and would you like to see it here? Post your request into this board! If there is a more specific board for the request, (i.e. game rule changes etc) then it should be posted and discussed on that specific board.
I just had a thought. I live in Miami and we have these little freak weather thingys call hurricanes. Now What if one were to knock out my power for a couple of days? How many of my games would time out? Is there a way to stop this???
What if Fencer added a feature that if a game gets down to say, 5 mins before a timeout, it would use a vaction day automaticly? The feature could be turned on or off in our settings. How hard would it be to implament this? If they tell us to get out of town, the last thing on my mind would be my games :)
How could this work with dark or plus if, for instance, the first 'hit' you make is on a 2, and you still have 5 shots left? How will you count misses/hits?
Another Battleboat Idea: Loop Battleboat (Also can be Loop Battleboat Plus, Dark loop Battleboats, etc...)
Overview - if you can hit your opponenets ship with the correct amount of shots without missing, you don't give it time to "sink" and you capture it! You can then place it back into play as one of your own ships!
Details: Sink ship with correct # of hits = let say you make a hit, if you can finish hitting the rest of the ship without any "miss" shots - you capture it. So a 4 ship will take 4 shots from the first one that hit. (If you miss with one of them, the boat has more time to take on water and sinks - not letting you capture it.)
Place back on board: Not one can you place it back on the board, you can also place it in an area that your opponent already shot! (So instead of "hit marks" on the board, you will have a "1", "2", "3", "4", etc.... that way you you can tell when you last tried to shot in an area easier.
There are a few other details I'm working on - but feel free to visit the Battleboat Board to discuss this idea some more!
You are correct in what you say.
At a guess i would imagine Fencer is trying to implement that at the same time as BK 2.0 starts running, but honestly do not know, it may take longer.
If my memory is correct, the teams in fellowships were going to allow "contests" between fellowships. Is this correct? Is this coming soon?
I've participated in a contest between fellowships, but it all had to be done by hand. It was very fun. I would sure like to see this feature added/finished.
Fencer: Would it be possible to see a list of things on your to-do list, like you have above about the games you are working on.
We often see things posted again about things you have all ready made a note of or working on, plus if anyone has an idea they could check the list first before posting.
Dark chess is a bit boring for spectators, how about if we could see on which square the pieces were captured, this information is also clear to both players.
Interesting though this discussion about chess and its variants may be, there are boards specifically dedicated to these discussions so please use them :)
I guess you're talking about loop chess? It was a surprise for me as I was used to shogi, it just means you need to take care about what you promote to.
I wonder if it is normal : A Pawn promote in Queen for example. The opponent captures the promoted Pawn and he collects a Queen !! Else it is a bug else a BIG surprise ... lol
Which is a way when you get ready to submit a move, you can be taken to the next game with the least amount of time - or at least some what to know what that game is easly.
Currently you are stuck going back to the main page each time to see which game has the least time left, then click on that game... and with the main page being the one that takes the most time to come up - if cuts playing speed in 1/2.
Why it is needed - if you have about 10 mintues to play, and you have 10 games with only a few hours left (and 90 with over a day), you want to try to get those 10 games with little time played first.
... and I know it is on Fencers to-do list, but wanted to add that I look forward to this feature also! :-)
on your main page, at the top right of the game list, it should say time left, if the green arrow next to that is pointing down and you hit go to the next game, it should go to the game with the shortest time left
How about when the server is full, and a Knight or Rook level customer wishes to log on, BrainKing would automatically punt the Pawn who has been logged on the longest.
Give the Pawn a message like "Thank you for checking out our site, we hope you enjoyed our features. Unfortunately we are currently at maximum capacity and a paying member wishes to use the site. Please feel free to log on another time." (or something to that effect)
I feel that it might help motivate some Pawns to upgrade their membership and help keep current customers happier. By the way, BrainKing is a great site. Keep up the good fight!
Hey Fencer, do you have an approximate timeframe on the 'choose which order to run 'next game' in' ? I love the little drop-down box for 'go to this game', and the (*) is great, too. However, when you have a lot of tournaments going with many of the same games, it's hard to keep track of which are the 1-day moves and which are 3 weeks. I'd like to run next game in the order of time left, so I'd never have to worry about timing out.
Addendum: Perhaps just add the time left to the drop-down box, if this is possible?
(2) Or maybe sort the drop list in the same order as main page order?
How about the possibility of thematic games for the waiting room? Particularly in chess one might only be interested in games in a certain opening that if left to chance will only occur 20% of the time, so it would be handy to be able to define the first few moves before submitting the game.
Outbreak.. for somewhere down the line. Those listed on the board's introduction are interesting, but how do you do a reversi race, and what's Jungle? (I'm assuming Jungle is somewhat like Sabatoge?)
Another thought on these lines as harley says.
If it is Main board, would it be possible for Moderators to have a second Moderator (helper). There can be times often when Moderstors are not on line and Members etc.. may need a quetion answered or help.
On Fellowship boards, i guess you can have a Deputy Big Boss (which i think has been mnentioned before) to carry out such things.
MadMonkey: I am going to remove the "hide" feature because the related problems will be solved much easier with "approve mode" for board moderators. When it's turned on, no new message will be visible for other users until it is approved by the moderator.
If a Moderator has put a persons messages on 'Hide' on any of the Discussion Boards, is there anyway you can stop them showing up as new messages posted Fencer(as we can't see them anyway).
I know it does not take long to look, but it can get annoying if that person keeps posting on boards and you go there to find nothing.
