I've just made a discovery that has, as they say, rocked my world: Regina Spektor.
+ Us
They made a statue of us And it put it on a mountaintop Now tourists come and stare at us Blow bubbles with their gum Take photographs have fun, have fun
They'll name a city after us And later say it's all our fault Then they'll give us a talking to Then they'll give us a talking to Because they've got years of experience
We're living in a den of thieves Rummaging for answers in the pages We're living in a den of thieves And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious
We wear our scarves just like a noose But not 'cause we want eternal sleep And though our parts are slightly used New ones are slave labor you can keep
We're living in a den of thieves Rummaging for answers in the pages We're living in a den of thieves And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious
They made a statue of us They made a statue of us The tourists come and stare at us The sculptor's mama sends regards They made a statue of us They made a statue of us Our noses have begun to rust We're living in a den of thieves Rummaging for answers in the pages Were living in a den of thieves
And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious And it's contagious
Rock 'n Roll was born today in 1954, if you don't count all the blues, and gospel, and soul that came before as its base. Elvis Presley recorded "That's All Right (Mama) * and "Blue Moon Of Kentucky " at Sun Studios in Memphis TN. The record was released on July 19th, 1954.
And, Robbie Robertson of The Band fame is 64 today. Think he'll retire? I doubt it...I hope not! His Ghost Dance is posted for my Native American friend.
Konu: Re: An Intro but brilliantly done as a music video...
Jules: Outstanding - thank you for posting. Please note I have modified your post. The only modification I have made is adding a + sign at the bottom corner of the message box.
Jim Dandy: Outrageous! I love it. The School's Out was shocking to me at first, but I got over it.
I had the pleasure of seeing this tour prior to the band imploding. This is the only video I could find of my favorite song of theirs.I 'm not intending to bring politics to this board, and my position will remain a private matter.
Jim Dandy: It is great seeing reactions from people who have seen RHPshow for the first time. lol Specially after going to a midnite showing full with TP, and toast! LOL
TexasToest: I think I got that movie out of my system after about the 20th midnite show, but I do enjoy the music and opening.I caught Meatloaf here about two months ago.He is wise to have a top notch band, because he has a very tough time reaching the notes these days.At times you could feel the whole audience straining with him as he tried to climb the range.
Awwww awesome, you love it. Rock 'n Roll is where the creativity is. Jerry Lee, I had to two-step up and down the hall on that one. He's definitely my contemporary. He used to play on Saturday nights in the country outside the town where I was born.

So tell me, JD, you still go see the moving pictures packing your rain gear? I love Rocky Horror Picture Show. Now, you have me thinking about renting it. Or, maybe even buying it. Not long ago, I saw an interview with Meatloaf. He's a changed man, he even got serious about life. I didn't know that he was a serious, and very talented, actor, and that was his passion. How about a little Hot Patootie?
Konu: Re: Sometimes its not the music - but whats being sung that is important
redfrog: That's music. Thanks for reminding us.
Jim Dandy: I kept looking for your horns, but I was distracted. All I can say is....great legs!
Mousetrap: Yes, that's what I've done most of my career, advise, account for, and prepare federal income taxes for individuals, corporations, trusts, non-profits.....you name it.
Eriisa: Yeah, that's kinda what I was saying, except when you have studio equipment, everything is clearer. When you have a 4 piece band in the living room, you can hear lots of stuff, but not a lot of detail. I can assure you this man had never heard any music from the Beatles' Revolver at that point in time, if ever. This was back in 1966, and it had just been released that summer (3 days before my birthday.....is that why I've made my career in taxation? - it's the BEATLES' fault, [exp] them).
TexasToest: I agree, many a song I have been on another planet entirely when it comes to what I hear and what's actually written.I can understand his sensitivity, but I hope they all shared a good laugh after the misunderstanding was clarified
In the meantime, let there be rock!,I'm the kid wearing the horns

I know this isnt a religion board of any sort - but this is not a religious post in nature - its about music - this is a song that has meant a great deal to me - and i thought just maybe others could gain something from the message in the music - sometimes a change in perspective is all that we need in order to deal with pain or suffering....and this music in particular seems to help me....
TexasToest: Most likely he could not understand the words. When I first started listing to the group Newsboys in the 90's, it was months before I could understand the words! LOL
Jim Dandy: You have to admit the accoustics aren't the best in the living room of a suburban tract home. You couldn't hear anything clearly but the instruments. Plus, there is something to be said about the sensitivity of the person who is insecure about his weight anyway, and his lack of familiarity with the "music of the day".
TexasToest: really? I can see it being mistaken for "saxman" and running the risk of offending a sax player.I don't see how they could hear fat, unless of course the singer had a lisp
Jim Dandy: Well, I didn't know if it would be forthcoming, but I should have known you wouldn't leave me out on the cold. Hahaha! AND, I have a story about that song......
Back in the dark ages, my brother played lead in a band. They were practicing in our living room one afternoon, and a guy who worked for our dad came over for some reason. The guys were practicing that song, Taxman.
Well, this guy was rather obese, and he had evidently never heard the song before. He thought they were singing Fatman, and got all puffed up about it. I honestly don't know if he ever got straight with that. When he left suddenly the way he did, it never occurred to us until my mom told us.
Nivabef: Thanks for the link to Antigone Rising. I'm maybe behind the times, but I'd never heard them before.

My new favorite band is Antigone Rising. I'd been familiar with them since about 2000, but I saw them play last weekend and I never realized just how awesome they are.
(sakla) If you want to play a game with an opponent of a similar level, you can define a required BKR range for a new game invitation. Then nobody with a BKR outside this range will be able to see/accept it. (Katechka) (Bütün ipuçlarını göster)
