Niki, thanks for posting that info. I have always liked mushrooms and now that I am sure of its nutritional value, will enjoy them more. I already have listed in my favorites the site you mentioned and will refer to it often. Since July 11th, Joe and I are neck in neck losing but since his brief stay in the hospital for his angioplasty to insert a stent in the circumflex artery to the aorta that was 99% clogged, he is now ahead of me by 2 lbs. So far, he has lost 14 and I have lost 12. He is more conscious of his eating habits now that he still has 2 more clogged arteries and it is a matter of life and death to him. His chest pains have deminished, thank God. We are eating lots of salads, veggies and have limited our intake of meats although we were only eating chicken and fish. The freezer is full of veggie burgers, soy breakfast links instead of small sausages, skim milk, etc. etc. We find that we are eating more with less calories and the substitutes are really very tasty. Try them everyone as they are good and good for you. Edited for additional info.

I am sorry and it will not happen again. I thought maybe my opinion about peace and love to all was worth something and wanted everyone to see it. I shall watch my etiquette more carefully from now on and maybe keep my opinions to myself. Did not mean to start anything. I thought it might help; instead it is causing more problems. Sissie, I have tapes that say your body has a set weight and no matter what, goes back to that unless you reset it. It tells how and when to reset it and I will re-listen to them, will tell you how.

Sissie, would you believe 80 or 90 lbs? Yes, that is how much overweight I am. Everyone says I do not look it but the scale does not lie! LOL

Konu: Weekends are very tempting.
Joe always insists on going for a fishfry on Friday or to a restaurant Saturday or Sunday. I have found a way to combat the calories by eating only part of it and doggy bagging the rest for take home. I do good all week but then the weekend I have to be so careful and eat way too much no matter how much will power I have. I have now lost 14 lbs total so I must be doing something right. Keep your fingers crossed for me so I continue. I told Joe I am cooking tomorrow and probably Sunday as I can control portions, carbs and calories that way. Thanks for your good wishes sissie.

Total pounds lost since July 11, 2004 is 12 and I am getting used to eating less but the right foods. Nothing like patting myself on the back, right?

FL, nice to hear that YOU ARE getting enough calcium from 1% and yogurt. I simply love yogurt. Have a yummy time at you Grams for dinner Sunday and I will envy you eating all that pasta.
I have a lot of running around to do today so I will probably not play my games until late evening. I am trying to catch up on all the messages in the Fellowships and Discussion boards. Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Foxy Lady, I did not know you were pregnant. Congrats and diet or no diet, you have to drink milk for calcium because the baby takes so much of it out of your system. You should learn to drink skim milk; that's what I do. I know too many cases of women having trouble in latter years with osteoporosis and fractures because they did not drink enough milk during pregnancy.
Dolittle, I cannot eat too many raw veggies as I have diverticulitis. I have to steam them to cook them partially and save them in the refrigerator to pick on later. Raw veggies also give me heartburn. I wish my health were not so complicated but it is. My own fault for not taking care of myself properly the last 30 years. It all catches up; doesn't it?

You have a good point Antje and thanks for the info. I USUALLY weigh myself in the morning as I know I always weigh less than evening so don't ask me why I did it late that day.

Dolittle, I weighed myself tonight and I am up 2 lbs so it certainly did hurt!! All I have to do is look at food and I gain. LMAO Tomorrow I will really fill up on fruit and get back on track.

Konu: My diet is working because......
I lost 8 lbs since July 18th. I have been snacking on fruit and more fruit to offset hunger cravings. I am on diuretics so drinking more than 4 glasses of water daily creates a problem as my body retains water. There also is a diuretic in my blood pressure pills. I am not eating anything past 7pm unless I feel I am going to scream and then I eat some grapes. Lots of luck to you folks that are trying to drink 60 oz of fluid daily.

Foxy Lady and sissie44; I have medical problems that prevent me from using any certain type diet. I am following a limited calorie intake of 1200 to 1500 calories and cutting out white flour products, sugar, too many white potatoes, white rice and fats except for olive oil which I cook with, add to salads and fry with. I am eating most foods in moderation and thru experience know what works for me and what does not. Consequently, I cannot give the type as it varies so much. Foxy, I too was raised with foods that were very Italian; like white flour breads and pastas. Both sets of my grandparents came from Compabello in Sicily. I think I spelled it right. Most members of my family are big boned and on the heavy side. Not much to be said about inheriting genes. My boyfriend and I made an agreement to "weigh in" on Sunday mornings and so far he has lost 6 lbs and I lost 4 lbs. It is a known factor that most men lose faster than women. Not so when we started but last Sunday, we were the same weight so it should be very interesting from this point on we are neck and neck so far. I am enjoying the games I play here and enjoy the discussion boards and chatting but find it hard to keep up as there are so many of them and if I miss reading only one day, cannot catch up because there are too many to read. I am sure you are finding the same problem. Well, time to get back to my games. I prefer to only play Five in line. I like the games to be relaxing, requiring the least amount of brain power. LOL Not that I have an abundance of brain power anymore in my golden years. I just turned 64 May 24th. See you again/chat with you soon, I am sure.

Foxy Lady - Eat whole grain breads and not any with white flour. Eat pasta made from spinach, tomato etc. These are available at most supermarkets or go to a health food store; the kind that has fresh produce. Happy Eating. BTW, you look very thin if the pic posted is you so you do not have to worry about carbs that much anyhow. What would you do if you weighed what I started with last week before I went on my diet. There is a reason I only show my head in most photos. LOL
