On a side note, I upgraded from IPB 1.3 to 2.0 and I must say I'll never go back. I love it!!! I fail to see why timeout/resign should be penalized as there is no way more than 1x points could be lost even if the game had been played out.
But timing out or resigning before bearing off any pieces is a tricky situation because there could be a possibility that checkers can be sent back to bar. If I understand it correctly, if they already have a piece removed (and cube not used), then that match is worth 1 point then they should be able to start the second match. If a player is about to lose 1 point in the first match, but does not want to play the other matches - then he would forfeit the points from those also - to the max amount of points.
