Typed out another post about this, but I guess I didn't send it properly.
I'm wondering if it's possible for the creator to choose their own colour in a tournament. I've come across someone who had had white at least 48 consecutive times for one particular game in tournaments this person has created. They are single game matches.
Walter Montego: When I upgraded internet explorer some site don't recognise it. For example I can't use the smileys on here in rich text. I guess we have to wait for sites to up date their sites so to speak.
MadMonkey: Do you know that your question to Artful Dodger of them making unasked for changes and then the new things not working is exactly the one I ask of Microsoft and Facebook?!
MadMonkey: That can't be completely true. AD posted a video on the Music board shortly after your original post here.
The last time I tried adding a video to my profile, I couldn't get it to work too.
EDIT : Oops. Well your post I was responding to, disappeared before I finished typing this. (The one where you said neither old nor new work at all anymore)
MadMonkey: Youtube has changed its codes again. Some embedded codes still work (the older ones) and if you go to that video and copy the new code system it's missing the http plus other changes. I laid the working old code side by side to the current code (for the same video) and there are some minor changes. Apparently those changes don't work. See this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXXZUQrN4fI
Fencer, has something gone wrong with embeding Videos on BrainKing ??
I notice people are just posting links on the music board. OS i have tried with old & new embed code & neither works for me. I have even tried in my Fellowship, with nothing.
Any ideas ? has their code been changed again, or has BrainKing got a gremlin ?
I'm sure this was discussed often before, but I could not find anything: There is an RSS button on the Branking page, and it shows what looks liek an RSS feed. How do I use that? I use Outlook, and I'm considering to connect this. How to do that? Does it work at all?
happyjuggler0: this time of the year is always the time of slow moving due to a couple of reasons:
- it is a week of days off for a lot of people and they might valye their time with friends more important than playing games online - it is a week of days off for a lot of people and they might use it for a vacation and might not be able to be online - it is the end of the year and everyone knows how many vacation days they still have left on this site, so they might decide to use them for not timing out, and use their time for other stuff in the real world
personally i usually am a slow mover during the weekends (spending time with kids and family), and am mover faster during the workweek (what else to do during breaks at work.. ;-))
personally i always try to keep it so that i always have at least 2 days till my next timeout and join only games with 3 days per move or more
personally i keep my vacation days for emergencies (as i needed them this summer) and in the end of the year might use the remainder to spend some time with family or do the stuff in my house which i have neglected too long
personally i never timed out in any game that i remember and i wont do so this year either
personally: if you want me to move faster, please let me know and i might speed up those specific games
personally i think it is as important to move fast, as it is to know which tournaments with which time control you join ..
I don't often contribute to this board, but I do often read what comes up. I've seen the arguments below and many similar to it in the past and have not said anything, but I will say something today.
It seems simple to me. every tournament has a time control. They have a time control and they have a standard vacation option and a weekend only option. Some times they use the clocks with no exceptions. If your time runs out and your vacation days run out, you forfeit the game. Until that happens, it is your time to do with as you please.
Maybe the problem lies not with people using up THEIR time, but with people signing up for tournaments that have liberal time controls. If you sign up for a tournament that is 5 day standard vacation and you are a relatively fast player, then expect to be kept waiting.
I'm not addressing this to anyone in particular. It's an open letter
happyjuggler0: I think Carpe diem's point is correct. If your opponent is not timing out they are able to handle the number of games they have chosen to play. If you want them to play a move every day play games with a 1 day per move time limit.
happyjuggler0: It can happen for a number of reasons. Some people like to have a lot of games on the go so they always have some to play. And some, like me, started out by signing up to a lot of tournaments without realizing what we're getting ourselves into. A lot of tournaments don't start for a number of days, or even weeks, and if you play a lot of different games, you can sign up for quite a large number without fully realizing what you've done. And I can tell you from first hand experience, once you dig a hole, it can take a long, long, long time to get out. I managed to get myself all the way up to 3,000+ games early this year, and it's taken me until now to get down below 1,000, starting no more than a handful of games in that time. When you're that far behind, you have little hope of doing more than keeping your head above water - this means that you're maxing out all your game times, and therefore they take much longer to complete, leaving you in the hole for that much longer. It's sort of a vicious cycle.
I take at least a little pride in the fact that aside from a handful of no vacation games I failed to notice, I dug my way out without forfeiting any games. But I feel bad about the many tournaments that were (and are) waiting for me to finish, and for the pawns that had one (or more) of the few game slots they have available tied up by playing me. Of course I was within the rules, and my opponents knew the time controls when they joined the tournaments, but I appreciate that having opponents that max out all their time controls must be frustrating for those that are on top of things.
Not really sure why I addressed this to you; I guess I just saw an opportunity to get a confession/apology off my chest. :)
That is the number of games where it is your turn, vs the number of games you have to play where it is your opponent's turn to play.
I thank you for your implicit attitude towards making your moves in your games. Far too many players here choose (for whatever reason) to have more games that they have to play in than they can handle in a given day, or any time period for that matter.
Hi, I have a question, if the time LIMIT is set to 15 days, but the game is a 5 games match, does it mean for every single game of those 5 the limit is 15 days, so 5 games x 15 days = max. 75 days? or is the limit of 15 days for all of the 5 games, so for the whole match?
Dear friends: Trying to promote new memberships for my fellowship, I´ve created this Prize tourney: The Chess Club (1. December 2013, 12:42:24) Please feel free to invite all your friends (they must require membership to enter) Regards, tenuki.
Something fishy is going on. When you check this move: <http://brainking.com/en/showgame?g=6535691&i=87> my opponent had a 1 and a 9 (yes, no typo, a nine). There is no image for the nine (but you can check the link's name, http://i.brainking.com/back/small-die9-25.gif). She could not move the 9 either, for unclear reasons (she could have just beared off). Did I miss something? Were the Backgammon rules changed? Or how comes you can roll 9s now?
Looks like the color codes are applied at Checkout, not when you put it in the cart. I tried to put several one-year rooks in the cart, at different times, having different colors, but the cart merges them together into the current color. So if someone wants to buy multiple color codes (which is only interesting if you try to get them all, otherwise you would always use the highest), you need to checkout for each color separately, and produce multiple orders (I'm pretty sure you can still pay them all in one go).
Also, this means that if you are trying to catch the Easter-Egg bonus, you can already prepare your cart, and when it appears - even for 15 seconds only - you can just quickly check-out and get it. :-)
ketchuplover: Easter came early for you remember? You got the 125% bonus that is your good fortune that you could share with others if you must humbly request that all players become paying members. Or you could even pay for some memberships.
7 bonus conqueror/achievements costs 252 euros (saving 108 euros on the regular black rook price and spreading the payment through 7 installments) and can give the recipients an extra 47 to 61 months in addition to the 84 months) Howver black rooks have their own forum! Can you wait to join that excitement?
There is an Achievement which gives you a Black Rook once you have used (bought) all bonus code colors. Question: does it also apply if the buys are for other players? So, could I buy some one a rook for a year with the yellow bonus, later buy a rook for a year for someone else for a year with the red bonus, etc. and get the Black Rook for it? Or do I need to buy all those rooks for myself to get the achievement?
