Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
DeaD man WalkiN: BrainKing is 100% popup free (have you seen any ads here, except plain text ones?). It sounds like an adware/malware/spyware/whateverware installed on your browser or computer.
You may have visited a site which modified your browser settings. Check them. There usually is a pop-up blocker somewhere.
Chrome: control button -> settings -> Show advanced settings -> Privacy -> Content settings -> (scroll down) pop-ups , check "Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)"
Whatever happened to the BrainKing Facebook page ??
The link i have on the Madhouse Board says,
this page isn't available The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.
So i searched for it and cant find it... there are a few others with BrainKing in there name (a few that are something to do with here, and a few other that are just.......well hmmmm)
Heluvagi: i would like that a lot. With a large number of people, many rounds are not interesting, because there is always someone who forgets to bid and falls out. Often half the rounds are kind of random, and then whoever happens to have the strongest position is already winning.
I was wondering what people think to the idea of having ponds that would start with fewer than a minimum of 16 players. A pond with 8 people might be really interesting. What would your initial bid be? I can appreciate that a pond with 3 people at the beginning would only have one round that would really matter, but 6 or more, for instance, might be pretty challenging.
Anyone who has played me recently has noticed that I stopped playing. I have run into some bad health of late and am trying to correct it. Part of my problem is using my hands and the computer. I sincerely apologize and the good Lord willing, I'll try to come back,.... I miss my Fevga...... John
Can't get into brainking.com I can get into .cz, that's how I enter this message however: the graphic files aren't loading so the only games I could play are those where the graphics happened to be in cache
crosseyed: lol yeah but peeps have complained about that sort of thing so I thought I'd cover it. But then, they'd have to read my boring profile to see it in the first place! I used to have an extension that I could do a ctrl * and I could post different prewritten messages with one click. But with the upgrades to Firefox that option didn't work any longer. Like I said, Im a bit lazy. ;)
crosseyed: I put on my profile "good Luck" and "good game" so my bases are covered. ;) I wish there was a button for each as I'm a bit lazy and if I type something, it slows down my rhythm. lol
badgerboy78: There were others besides me that complained? It wasn't the slow play itself as it was that you were putting out new invites for the same game type with faster time limits. My perspective was, hey, why not just move faster in our game? I understand the limits of being a pawn and I play at multiple sites so I don't have to rely on any one place. On Brainking, a game that takes a year is considered fast. Ha ha...
I get annoyed with pawns that send me a message complaining about slow play, even if they chose a game with a 2 or 5 day limit. I generally respond that they should buy a membership so they don't have to beg for moves. I play way more games than most people but I'm retired and that is my choice.
Justaminute: well said, I play a lot of games because I want there to always be games when I log on, that's why I have a membership and that's why I like this site the best
Artful Dodger: That is good advice. Pawns play a small number of games so every game matters to them and they sometimes begrudge a slow player taking up one of their slots. I am playing a lot of games at a 3-5 day per move rate but some at a 10-15 a move rate. I have about 200 games on the go and perhaps make 60- 100 moves a day. The point is the 10-15 moves a day game takes a week to get into my top 100 games if my opponent responds within 24 hours. I could of course reduce the number I am playing to 60-100 so I could move every day in every game but I want there to be games to play whenever I go onto the site. That’s why I pay a membership fee. Similarly if I am playing against a lot of slow players and I am not getting enough games I just increase the number of games I am playing.
I only see the rate of play being an issue for pawns (and admittedly knights) but as AD said the answer is don’t enter a tournament with a time limit you are not prepared to play. I’ve also heard people complaining a time limit is too fast, same applies.
